A Chinese student went to England to study by plane. His English name was Sun. It is spelt S-U-N, just   (1)  the word “sun”, the sun in the sky, is spelt.

England is a country with bad weather. It is often   (2)  and rainy, so the people there don’t get much sunlight in the year. When the Chinese student arrived at the London Airport, a tall Englishman   (3)  his passport to check the visa(签证), and was interested in finding the name “Sun” in the passport. So he said to the student, “I see your name is Sun. You are   (4)  here.”

The Chinese student felt surprised, “Is there  (5)  wrong with my visa? Do I have to   (6)  to my country?” “What?” shouted the Englishman, “No, we’ll never let you go away.”

The Chinese student was   (7)  . He was sure that he had been in  (8)  . So he asked again, “What has happened ? What have I done?”

It was then that the Englishman began to  (9)  . He said “You don’t know what you have done, Mr. Sun? You have brought   (10)  to England! So we don’t want you to go away.”

However,    (2)  a friend’s secrets to you and not telling the world about him is what makes the relationship grow strong and last long. You need to develop trust and understanding with each other     (3)  you start sharing secrets with each other. With a true friend, secret talks never seem to    (4)  and it can be really exciting to know what has been going on in your friend’s mind.
There is a time in life    (5)  one starts having a personal field in life and parents are kept     (6)  it. It is because there are certain things that they     (7)  but there are certain problems which we can’t discuss with them. It is then that friends become the best secret sharers.
It is a general idea that only girls share secrets.    (8)  boys have their own secrets that they discuss with only their closest friends. The secret talks can be about relationships,    (9)  with parents, secret tasks, and anything else that is not    (10)  to be known to others! If you think secrets are     (11)  to only teenagers, get your fact right!    (12)  can be shared at any age not just among young people.
Sharing secrets with a friend is not just fun, but it also helps to     (13)  a lasting trust on one another. Sometimes, sharing secrets will tell you more about the person. You will come to know whether your friend is trustable and    (14)  and whether it is worth sharing your secrets with him or her. You can call it a(n)    (15)  of friendship and if a person fails it, he or she is surely not worth being made a trustworthy friend.

Mr. King lives in a city. He has some shops and gets a lot of money. His son, Mike, studies in a middle school. His father has   (4)   time to stay at home and doesn’t know anything about it.

One day, Miss Read, Mike’s teacher   (5)  Mr. K ing on the telephone, and she told him everything about the boy. She wanted him to help the boy at home. The man heard this and wasn’t   (6)  . When his son came back from school, he gave him a good beating(痛打). But soon he felt sorry for it   (7)   he saw Mike crying in the bedroom. The next morning, before Mike went to school, he said, “Study hard, my son! I   (8)   you a car if you pass the exams next year.”

Another term (学期) was over. Mike didn’t pass the exams once more(又一次). Mr. King looked

                (9)   the school work and asked,“What did you do this term, Mike?”  “I learned to   (10)  a car,” answered the boy.

I always remember the last class I had in the university. On that day, our teacher said with a smile, “Today, let’s talk about   (1)   question.”

“Which is the highest mountain in the world?” Hearing this, everyone laughed. “That’s   (2)   . It’s Qomolangma.” “Then which is the second highest?” We looked at each other.   (3)    could answer it. Our teacher wrote the sentence——It makes no difference between the second place and the unknown on the blackboard.

“Someone wanted to boil water. When he made the fire, he found he didn’t have enough firewood. What should he do?” Some said he should go to find more,   (4)   said he should borrow or buy some. Our teacher said, “Why not   (5)   some water in the pot?”

“My last question---long long ago, there lived a man. He wanted to learn some useful skills  (6)      himself. Finally, he decided to learn   (7)    to kill dragons. He studied hard and practiced day and night. What would happen to him?” We all said he would become a hero who   (8)   by everyone. Our teacher shook his head and said, “This man will never be a hero, because there aren’t   (9)   at all.”

In this class, my teacher wanted us to understand how to be a man, how to do things and how to learn. Being a man is trying to be outstanding and the best so that others can remember you. When we do something, we should be brave enough to be creative and try to use different methods. When we study, we should know how to turn the knowledge   (10)    effective ability. There is no way behind closed doors.

Once, a circle lost a piece of its own. The circle wanted to be whole. So it went around, looking for its  (1)  piece. But because it was not complete, it could only roll(滚)very slowly. It enjoyed the flowers and the sunshine  (2)   the way. It talked with worms. It found lots of different pieces, but   (3)  of them fit. So it left them all by the side of the road and kept on   (4)  for the lost piece. Then one day the circle found a piece that fit   (5)  . The circle put the piece into   (6)  . It could be whole with nothing lost. It was so happy and began to roll. As it was a perfect circle. It could roll very fast. Too fast to see flowers or talk to worms. It realized how different the world was when it rolled so quickly. It felt so sad   (7)   it stopped. Left its found piece by the side of the road and rolled very slowly.

Sometimes we are perfect when we lose something. A man who   (8)   everything is poor in some ways. He will never have hopes dreams or something  (9)  . He will never know someone loves him or someone is giving him something he has always wanted or never had.

We couldn’t be perfect. But we must be brave enough to love, strong enough to forgive, kind enough to share   (10)   with others and clever enough to know there is enough love around us and then we can always have a wonderful time in our life.

Mr Clarke lived with his 10-year-old grandson in the countryside. Each morning, he got up early reading his book.

One day the little boy asked, “Grandpa! I try to read the book just like you but I don't    (1)  it.  And I always forget what I do understand as soon as I    (2)  the book. What good does reading the book do?"
The grandfather answered, “Take this coal(煤炭)basket down to the    (3)  and bring me back a basket of water.”
The boy did so, but all the water leaked (漏) out    (4)   he got back to the house. The grandfather laughed, “You’ll have to move a little    (5)   next time.” The boy tried again and ran faster, but again the basket was empty before he returned home. He told his grandfather he couldn’t carry water in a basket at all. Grandpa answered, “You’re just not trying   (6)  .” The boy ran hard a   (7)   time but the basket was empty again. Out of breath, he said, “See Grandpa, it’s useless!”
“So you think it is useless?", the old man said, “Look at the basket.” The boy looked at the basket. He was surprised to find that the basket was   (8)   for the first time. It was changed     (9)   a dirty old coal basket into a clean one, inside and out.
“Grandson, that's what happens when you read the book. You   (10)   not understand or remember everything. But when you read it, you'll be changed, inside and out!"
