The corridor (走廊) windows at the Hangzhou Entel Foreign Language School look a bit different than other schools. They are all decorated (装饰) with beautiful papercutting art. But they are not just for decoration. )(1) They are also used to stop birds from flying into windows.
Chen Zitong, 14, a Junior 3 student at the school came up with the idea. In early January, she wrote a letter to the headmaster and suggested this. She often saw birds fly into the clean windows and get hurt. After some online research, she found this solution. “Some people decorated windows with stickers (贴纸) or posters. (2)  Then I thought of using our traditional papercutting art to take place of them” Chen said.
                 (3) 令她惊讶的是,校长采取了她的建议。The school organized a papercutting art competition. Students’ works that got awards were pasted on the corridor windows. (4) 事实上,在2011 年我们学校就有了剪纸艺术课。“We have classes once a week for a month to teach papercutting,” said Fan Ming, an art teacher. The teaching building even has a display (展示) wall to show students’ works of art.
Through the class, Shi Jiawei, 14, fell in love with the art of papercutting. “It’s very fun. I can design my own patterns (图案) and present interesting things through it,” she said. She created many works like bears, elephants and magpies (喜鹊).
Papercutting also helps students become more patient. Wang Yiyou, 12, was once an active boy. But now, he can carefully design a delicate (精致的) papercutting work with scissors and gravers (刻刀).(5)“ I am proud that I can make it look so perfect,” he said.

For everybody, there must be a prince (王子) or princess (公主) living in their hearts. As for me, Jay Chou is certainly my prince, (1) because I prefer singers who can write beautiful lyrics on their own. And Jay Chou is exactly such an amazing singer. Lucky for people in Changsha, a live concert was held from Nov. 18th to Nov. 19th in Helong Stadium. I guess (2)那天晚上很多人肯定都去参加了演唱会because Jay Chou's performance was posted through Wechat or blog by thousands of fans. The whole city was excited about the coming of the super star. (3) However, I was not allowed to stay out to enjoy the concert. My parents agree that music can make me relaxed and they have nothing against music. (4) But they believe that this will get in the way of my schoolwork. And, in their eyes, I should spend more time on study and make an effort to be a top student. They do seem to have a point. Most of my classmates are taught to pay attention to our grades and health. I really hope life is not always about study. There must be something else we can do to color our life. (5)在我们的空闲时间,我们不仅应该努力学习,而且还要学会享受生活。
