Her father didn’t agree her trip, but with her grandmother’s help, she decided to start it. She only has two partners, a cock named HanHan and a pig called Pangpang. First, Moana looked for the super hero, Maui, because he stole(偷) the goddess(女神), Te Fiti’s heart. Because of this, the goddess was angry and became a devil(恶魔), which covered the world with black clouds and fire. After Moana found Maui, she boated with him to the open sea and had a difficult experience to give the heart back to Te Fiti. Te Fiti became normal and brought everything back to peace. Moana then returned to her homeland, where everything was back to life and the villagers began their normal life. Moana took her father’s place to be a new leader.

We can learn a lot from the movie. We should be thankful to the earth. If we always get everything from it without stopping, we will be punished(惩罚). We should face our mistakes like Maui and find the true ones for ourselves like Moano.

Studies show that laughter(欢笑) is good for our health and may even be the best medicine.

A newspaper said that Dr. Miller measured the blood flow (血流) of 20 healthy people before and after they watched two different movies-Stwing hivate Ryan(a war movie) and Kingpin(a comedy). The results were opposite. He found that their blood flowdecreasedduring the war movie and increased during the comedy. As we know, exercise can make blood flow increase. Dr. Miller pointed out that laughter might be almost as healthy as exercise.

Dr. Wei Jiang of Duke University studied over l,000 heart failure patients. He discovered that those who often felt sad had a 44% higher risk of death. In other words, being happy is good for our heart and helps us live longer.

The studies show that laughter is important for us to keep healthy. And it is free and has no bad effect. Many doctors today encourage patients to laugh. Some hospitals even have comedy rooms with TV comedy channels. And they believe the best way to live a long, happy and healthy life is to have a good diet, exercise regularly and add in a few laughs every day.

Idioms(成语) are phrases and sentences that do not mean exactly what they say. Even if you know the meaning of each word you see or hear, you may not understand the idiom because you donˈt understand the culture behind it.

For example, if an American boy asks his mother whatˈs for dinner tomorrow, she may say “Iˈll play it by ear”, that means she doesnˈt have plans for dinner and she will decide later. “Play by ear”used to mean playing music using the sheet music(活页乐谱), but now people often use it when theyˈre not talking about music.

There are many idioms in English. If you learn to use them, your English will be more vivid and colorful. English idioms are more common in spoken English. They can be difficult to remember sometimes. Next time when you hear somebody saying to you, “Give me a hand”, you donˈt necessarily reach out your hand to him/her, but you do need to be helpful. And when the situation is out of hand, you usually can do very little to manage all that. What about a green hand? Itˈs not about the color of your hand! Youˈre a green hand when you are very new at your work and donˈt have much experience. If you and your partner always work together hand in glove, you two certainly work together very well.

Can you guess the meanings of some common English idioms to do with parts of your body?

There is a new rule (规定) for students. They need to run 1,500 metres each day. How do they like the new rule? Are they ready to run?

Wang Tao:I’m 12 years old. I’m from Beijing. As Grade 8 students, we usually run 50 metres,200 metres or 400 metres in PE class, but never 1,500 metres. But I think the new rule is a good idea. It can help us keep fit. Running can also make us active (活跃的) in the daytime.

Liu Tao:  I’m 13 years old. I ’m from Dalian. Many students worry about the new rule. We only run 400 metres in PE class. Some students say that they may feel tired andsleepy in class after running. But I am OK with it. I can run 1,000 metres in 3 minutes.

Shi Ming: I’m 14 years old. I’m from Qingdao. Students in our school run 600 metres in Grade 7

and 800 metres in Grade 8 in PE class. In winter, we run about four laps (圈) each day. That is close to 1,500 metres. I think it’s good for us.
