As I never had a job before, I really wanted to start it. I got my job at the age of 22,When I arrived, I was a little nervous at first, but everybody was so friendly that I felt at ease (舒适的) soon.

My work at first was to help with auditing (审计) information on the computer. I was busy with lots of numbers all day. Being a friendly and great team of eight people to work with, the workers were always ready to help. That really made me know how to work effectively (有效率地) in my job.

Before my work, I did not know what auditing was, but now I do better in the job. I become more confident (自信的) with learning something new for future jobs. I can say that you may feel nervous about your first day at work, but you will soon be a part of the team. Now I work here for three years, and I enjoy my job very much. I thank all the workers for making me feel welcome and a part of the team.

I think people should have a work experience (经历) — it is an excellent way to get skills (技能) and make you feel more confident for future jobs.

Australia is the greatest island in the world. It is to the south of the equator. So when it is summer in our country, it is cold winter in Australia.

Australia is big, but the population(人口)there is small. The population is the same as that of Shanghai, a city of China. Australia is young and diverse nation and Australian people come from many different countries.

Australia has many, many sheep. After a short drive from town, you will see sheep around you. You can also find kangaroo has a “bag” below its chest. The mother kangaroo keeps its baby in the “bag”.

Australia is considered to be a relaxed, informal society(社会). When greeting others, students and young people say “Hello” or “Hi”. Sometimes they will say “How’s it going?” or “G day”. In more formal(正式的)situations they usually shake hands the first time they meet. “Good morning”, “Good afternoon” or “Pleased to meet you” are formal greetings. English is Australia’s national language.

Chinais a great country with the largest population in the world. In order to solve the population problem, our government decides to carry out* one-child policy* in 1980. When it is carried out for some time, many people not only see its advantages but also disadvantages. They think that two-child policy should be carried out now. So, the government in China plans to end its one-child per family policy and instead let families have two children. The plan was announced* on Thursday after a meeting in Beijing.

Maggie Ding, 36, a university teacher said that two-child policy should be carried out. First of all, two-child policy is the gift for some only-child families. When their only child grows up and they grow older, their child marries to an only-child girl by accident, the burden on their child and his wife is really heavy. Their child and his wife have to take care of four old people. Usually, it is a little difficult for a young couple to look after an old couple. If the pressure increase twice, how can they stand it? But if their parents have two children, they can share the burden of taking care of their parents. It would be much better. Secondly, two-child policy can guarantee* the number of Chinese population. It is very important for a developing country.

However, there are still some different ideas. “With two kids, you have less money to give them the best,” said Mao Xiaodan, 29, a Beijing nurse who has already has a son. She said she would not have the second baby because of housing prices and the high cost of schooling. “My husband’s friend has twins,” she said, “and just paying for education has nearly worried him a lot”.

Last Friday, a storm swept through two villages in the New Territories, destroying(摧毁) fourteen homes. Seven others were so badly damaged(破坏) that their owners had to leave them, and fifteen others had broken windows or broken roofs(屋顶). One person was killed, several were badly hurt and taken to hospital, and a number of other people received smaller hurt. Altogether (总共) over two hundred people were homeless after the storm.

A farmer, Mr. Tan, said that the storm began early in the morning and lasted for over an hour.

“I was eating with my wife and children,” he said, “When we heard a loud noise. A few minutes later our house fell down on top of us. We tried our best to climb out the house but then I saw that one of my children was missing. I went back inside the house and found him, safe but very frightened.”

left for work when she felt that her house was moving. She ran outside at once with her children.

“There was no time to take anything,” she said, “A few minutes later, the roof came down.”

Soldiers helped to take people out of the flooded(水淹的) area and the welfare department (福利机构)brought them food, clothes and shelter.

              (A)

In many western countries, heavy industry is highly. Developed. What’s the difference between heavy industryand light industry? Well, they produce different goods.

Heavy industry produces machines while light industry uses the machines to produce smaller things. People in cities need what light industry produces for all kinds

of uses in their homes and offices. So the more cities there are, the more goods people

need. And more factories are built to produce the goods. The growth of industry in a

factory depends on the general level of economic and industrial development. In its beginning, industrialization (工业化) is likely to be costly. To reduce costs, industrialists  (工业家)  in an area usually depend on local resources such as  coal and electricity for

their operation. Factories are usually built in places which can be easily reached

by road,  railway or sea, so that goods and machines they produce can be sent to other

places easily. Then many places which used to be quiet countryside become " industrial

               cities".

It's hard to imagine that just 25 years ago, Berlin was a city split (分开) into two by the Berlin Wall. I'll never forget how people were excited as the Berlin Wall came down in 1989. Since then, Berlin has become one of the coolest cities in Europe. Here are the main reasons why I think Berlin is cool.

It's affordable. Berlin has cheap hotels and everyday objects. You don't have to worry about spending too much money when visiting Berlin.

It has fantastic, festivals. Berlin knows how to give parties, and there is a festival here every month of the year. Perhaps the most famous is the Berlin International Film Festival.

It has great architecture (建筑设计). Berlin has beautiful architecture of its own. The Brandenburg Gate, built in the 18th century, is one of the city's moat famous buildings, symbolizing more than 200 years of history. The TV Tower is as good. as the Eiffel Tower in Paris and the London Eye.

The art scene is flourishing (繁荣). Berlin is a city of living art. Artiste are allowed to create works of art on the sides of buildings.

If you want to visit an affordable European city with culture and lots of colors, Berlin is the place to be. What are you waiting for? Get to Europe's coolest city before everyone else discovers it.

              New Technology Revolutionizes(变革)Learning

More and more people believe that technologies are great for learning.Today, such teaching tools as ipads are used in a lot of courses, including language, history and science.

Many teachers are supporters of using iPads in language learning. They say that students now have much more time for discussion in the classroom.Instead of spending valuable class time listening to texts or watching teaching videos, students can do this on their own and come to class prepared for discussion.

The teachers also say that iPads allow students to learn at their own pace. Some students might listen to a dialogue only once and understand it,so they can save time for doing other things.Other students, however, might need to listen to the same dialogue again and again to understand it.Using iPads is especially helpful to stodents who are learning a language at different paces.

The students who are using the new tool in some courses are also happy. They believe that using ipads is a more enjoyable way to learn(such as listening to stories and watching movies). The class has become much more interesting and creative.

There are other advantages for students.By using iPads, they can pay more attention to the material and learn more.Teaching notes are stored in their iPads and are easy to find. Some students spend more time studying now."I can listen to my language material or watch teaching videos on the bus, instead of having to wait until I get home,"a student explained.

Many adults complain that technologies such as iPads are doing hama to students. They worry that students might use iPads to download teaching notes and use them to cheat during exams. Some believe that [pads may separate students from each other. If a student spends more time watching videos on an ipad,he will have fewer opportunities to have face-to-face communication with others.

However, technologies are already a part of most students'day-to-day lives. As for cheating, teachers can ask students to hand in their iPads when they take exams.Education needs to make

changes with the times as technology is playing an important part.We should look forward to a wonderful future when [pads and other technologies can add a lot to the classroom.

We are used to seeing plastic all around us. From bags to bottles and toothbrushes, plastic things fill our homes, schools, and offices. But what happens at these things after we use them?

In the United States, recycling centers received tons of plastic every day. Experts say that does not stop plastic trash from polluting the sea. Plastic can end up in the ocean if the wind blows it there or if people litter. "The ocean is getting worse everywhere," says Charles Moore, an expert.

In 1997, Moore traveled from Hawaii to California by sea. On the journey, he discovered a huge "island" in the Pacific Ocean. The "island" was mostly made of plastic trash and it was twice the size of Texas(德克萨斯). It became known as the Great Pacific Garbage Patch(垃圾堆). Moore has been watching the "island" ever since he found it. "It's 100 times worse now than it was then," he said.

All this plastic in the ocean puts sea animals at risk. Animals can become tangled(使缠结)in plastic. They can also take pieces of plastic for food by mistake. "The plastic makes them

feel full, but they're not getting any good from that," says Jambeck, another expert. "They usually starve to death(饿死)."

The plastic problem doesn't just appear in the Pacific. Each year, more and more plastic ends up in all of Earth's oceans. If we continue with business as usual, the plastic in the sea

will double by the year 2025. But there are things we can do to stop it. Jambeck suggests choosing reusable things and picking products with less packaging(外包装).

Moore says, "It's everybody's problem." But it's one we can all help eliminate.

Many teenagers(青少年) feel that the most important people in their lives are their friends. They think that their family members and even their parent don’t know them as well as their friend do. In large families, it is quite often for brothers and sisters to fight with each other and then they can only go to their friends for advice.

It is very important for teenagers to have one good friend or a group of friends. Even when they are not with their friends, they usually spend a lot of time among themselves on the phone. The communication(交流) is very important in children’s growing up, because friends can discuss something . These things are  difficult to say to their family members. However, parents often try to choose their children’s friends for them. Some parents stop their children from their children from meeting their good friends.
