Father is always busy with his work. He knows nothing about housework. He never eats if everyone doesn’t cook for him.

One day, Mother was ill in bed. Father had to cook himself. First， he had to go shopping. But he didn’t know what to buy. So Mother wrote all these things on a piece of paper：

Father went out with the paper in his hand. Half an hour later he returned home, with a smile on his face. He brought out all the things: ONE cake, TWO eggs, THREE tomatoes, FOUR fish, FIVE bottles of milk, SIX bags of salt and SEVEN fat chickens. Mother was very surprised and she couldn’t say a word.

Once upon a time, a fox was walking along a road. He saw some beautiful grapes hanging over a high wall. He stopped to look at the grapes. They looked nice to eat .The fox wanted to eat the grapes very much, but he cou1d’t reach them. So he jumped as high as he could. Sometimes his nose touched a grape, but his mouth could not reach it. The fox jumped and jumped until he was very tired．

    Finally he stopped jumping and walked away with his nose held high. He said, “I don't need those grapes. They look nice but I'm sure they are sour.”

Banks and money

Banks are usually open between 9:30a.m.and 4:00 p.m.on Monday to Thursday and 9:30a.m.to 5:00p.m.on Friday．Travellers can change money at all the banks and some of the larger hotels．

During the day we work and play，and at night we sleep. Our body rests（休息）when we sleep. In the morning we are ready(准备)to work and play again. Our body grows most when we are asleep. Children who are tired usually need sleep. We can get better at our lessons after having plenty of rest. Boys and girls who are eight or nine years old need ten hours of sleep every night. Our body needs plenty of air when we are asleep. If we do not get enough fresh air, we will feel tired when we wake up(醒来). While in bed we must not cover(盖)our head, our lungs need to get enough fresh air. If we open our windows at night, we can have plenty of fresh air. Cool air is better than warm air.

Instead of welcoming each other with open paws, the dogs can’t get along well at first. When the two dogs find themselves on the mean streets of New York City, they have to team up and work together against a cute but criminal(犯罪的) rabbit named Snowball.

“The story is really funny,” Kemper says. The movie also has an important message. “Animals have feelings too,” she says. “That sounds corny, but we should be kind to animals.”

Miss Bailey taught me English in junior school. She cycled to school, and then when entering the school gate, she would give her bicycle to anyone of us to park it for her. It was a privilege(特别恩典) when Miss Bailey gave her bicycle to you. One day Shankar stood at the gate. Shankar was a hunchback(驼背的人).Katherine and Michelle laughed and said, “Move out of the way, Shankar! Miss Bailey is going to enter!” Miss Bailey drove in and we all rushed to offer our hands to her. But Miss Bailey looked past us all. “Will you park it for me?” she asked. We looked back to see who it was and were surprised to see it was towards Shankar. “I don’t think so, Miss Bailey!” stammered(结结巴巴地说) Shankar. “Why? You lazy fellow!”said Miss Bailey playfully. “You don’t want to help your teacher, do you?” “Of course I want to, Miss Bailey!” whispered Shankar. “But I might drop your cycle!” “If you drop it, you pick it up!” said the teacher with a smile.

With that she gave her cycle to Shankar and didn’t look to see how he’d manage. Pretending she had confidence in his abilities, Miss Bailey turned and walked to class. We watched Shankar as he held her bike. We held our breath as we thought it was going to fall. Dinesh rushed to help. “Leave it!” Shankar said, and we all stopped. It seemed that his hump(驼背) disappeared as he drew himself up to his full height, and then with growing confidence, he pushed Miss Bailey’s cycle to the parking lot. The school bell rang, and we rushed to class. Shankar was the last one to enter, but we were surprised; it was a different boy who walked in.

Miss Bailey didn’t even look at him as he walked to her and handed her the keys. From that day on, Shankar was ready to answer the questions in class, his grades went up and often a smile appeared on his face.
