①A recent report found that kids 30 years ago could run faster and longer than kids today. ②The report found that today’s kids were 15% less healthy than kids from 30 years ago.

You’re a 13-year-old girl. Your mom was the same kind of kid when she was your age. Now imagine we could set up a mile race between you and your mom from 30 years ago. The study shows your mom would probably beat you in the race by 1.5 minutes. It was the same for boys. A boy from 30 years ago would beat a boy today.

The scientists who did the study think there are some reasons for the big fall in health. First, too many of today’s kids are overweight. That makes it harder for them to run fast. Second, kids today don’t get enough exercise. The doctor says that kids should take exercise at least 60 minutes every day. That’s why ③学生在学校上体育课是重要的。

So what should kids do? If you don’t want your mom and dad to think they are faster than you, don’t spend a lot of time looking through the Internet, watching TV or movies. Instead, do things that will get you up and to move.

              阅读下面短文,按要求完成各项任务。

I went through some difficult times, dealing with the pressures of growing up. I found it hard to communicate with my mother. Relations between us became difficult.

One day, I ran away from home and stayed away for many hours. When I returned home at night, I saw all the pain, anger and disappointment on my mother’s face. ① _________. We agreed to have breakfast together the next morning. It was a turning point in both of our lives and our relationship.

We decided to go to a restaurant. On our way to the table I noticed my mother had two notebooks. I asked her what they were for. She explained to me that sometimes it was easier to write down our feelings rather than talk about (A) them. We would write down our feelings in the form of a letter. It could be as long or as short as we wanted.

Our first topic was “Why I’m so angry?” I wrote a half page, and my mom filled up nearly three pages. (B) I watched tears run down her face as she wrote. I never realized anyone could hide so much anger. After we finished writing, we exchanged our notebooks. As soon as I started reading my mother’s words, I began to cry and so did she. When we finished reading, we discussed our feelings. ②________. Our talk helped me realize so many things I had never thought of before, not only about my mother but also about other people.

My mother and I continue to use our notebooks as a way of communicating our anger and worries, and our happiness as well. We know that no matter how we feel about each other, our notebooks are a safe place to express our feelings. We have come to an agreement that at the end of each letter we write, “I love you.”

Look around and you’ll see people busy on their smart phones(智能手机). Smart phones do make our lives easier than before. But have you ever thought about what they mean to your eyes?
According to a study, half of British people own smart phones and they spend an average of two hours a day using them. There has been a 35% increase in the number of people in the UK who are shortsighted(近视) since smart phones were introduced there in 1997.
Looking at smart phones for a long time gives you dry eyes. When looking at something far away, your eyes automatically blink(自动眨眼) a certain number of times. However, when you look at things closer to your face, the blinking will slow down and this will be bad for eyes. Another bad habit is using smart phones in dark rooms before going to sleep. If you look at a bright screen, your pupils(瞳孔) will become larger and too much light will enter your eyes. This can do harm to the eyes and cause a disease called glaucoma(青光眼).
There are a few things you can do to protect your eyes. Hold your phone at least 30 centimeters away from your eyes when using it. Take a break every hour and try the following: look at something at least five meters from you and then try to look at the tip of your nose. Repeat this several times and it should reduce the discomfort in your eyes.

Although smart phones are useful, please use them in a right way.

              阅读下列短文。根据所给语境,按要求完成下列各题。

Have you ever heard of e-waste(electronic-waste电子垃圾),which can be produced every day? How do you deal with your computers, MP4 players and mobile phones when they’re broken or you want a new one? Most people just throw them away. With the development of electronic industry, e-waste pollution has become a serious problem. According to the United Nations, in 2014, people around the world produced 41.8 million tons of e-waste and only recycled 6.5 million tons. The U.S. was the biggest waster, producing 7.1 million tons. China came second, with 6 million tons.

Whether e-waste can be valuable or harmful depends on how we deal with it. People should pay much more attention to e-waste. E-waste is a valuable urban mine(城市矿藏). The value of the metals, like gold and silver in the waste around the world, is amazing. And the metals can be reused. But if people throw them away, the toxic(有毒的) chemicals can get into the earth or air, affecting(影响) the environment and people’s health.

What can we do if we don’t throw the e-waste away? We can recycle them. Now some companies have set up their recycling programs. First, they recycle people’s used products from those who buy new ones from their company. Then they test and repair the used ones and sell them at lower prices. To help reduce (减少) e-waste, we can take new computers and phones from those recycling programs offered companies or buy a second-hand one.

(1)According to the United Nations, in 2014, people in China produced ________ of e-waste.

(2)In 2014, what country produced the most e-waste?

If your friend is thinking about running away, tell him or her that it is difficult to survive (幸存) in the streets. Try to help your friend feel less lonely.

(1)Whatever the problem is, there are other ways to solve it.  Maybe you can’t think of the ways right now, but an adult (成年人) will know how to help you. And running away isn’t a solution for either of you. (2)Itonly makes more problems and danger.

Many people run for exercise. But what will you do if you are not a “born” runner or jogger (慢跑者)? You may still want a kind of exercise that’s inexpensive and easy to do. Why not try walking?

Walking requires no special equipment (装备). It is a kind of exercise that almost any normal, healthy person can do. Walking is good for your health like jogging or running; it will just take longer. Jogging and running make your heart work harder than walking. They also put more stress on your legs and feet than walking does.

The problem with walking is that most people don’t take it seriously. But there’s a big difference between serious walking and the walking that most of us do. Walking, like jogging, should have a steady and continuous motion (稳健而持续的动作).

If you want to get your exercise by walking, you need to have your own walking plan. After all, runners and joggers set goals for themselves. Walkers need goals, too. You also need to set a course to walk. Start by walking about 15-30 minutes a day. Increase your time and distance (距离) slowly. And try increasing your walking speed little by little.

If you prefer to jog or run, follow the same advice. Start off slowly. Spend most of the first few days just walking. Then, start walking and running on the same day. Run or jog a short distance, then walk for a while, then, run, then walk. Follow that pattern for 15-30 minutes a day. Slowly make each run longer and each walk shorter. Later on, you can increase your distance, speed and exercise time.
