Have you ever complained why life is so tiring? Does the sky sometimes seem dark to you? Are yourstudies sometimes not successful? Well, friend, cheer up and smile all the time.If you see the world with your warm heart, you'll find that the whole world smiles to you.

While in school, sometimes you are tired of your lessons, but have you ever noticed the happy smile on your teacher's face when you did a good job?

One day it is fine.Just before you want to go out, it suddenly starts to rain.Maybe you would feelvery sad and start complaining about the weather. But dear friends, why don't you sit down and listen tothe free concert that the nature offers you? And with the timely rain, crops (庄稼) in the fields will grow better and better and farmers will have a good harvest.

Although everyone wants to succeed in what he tries to do, sometimes failures can't beavoided.I think failure is not terrible, and the terrible thing is that we are afraid of it and give up hope. When we face failure, we must be confident in ourselves, draw a useful lesson from it and try our best to finish what we have decided to do.As a popular saying goes, "Failure is the mother of success."

Attitude decides everything. With a positive attitude life is easy and pleasant.

As a child, I was really afraid of the dark and of getting lose. These fears were very real and caused me some uncomfortable moments.

Maybe it was the strange way things looked and sounded in my own room at night that scared me so much. There was never complete darkness, but always a streetlight or passing car lights, which made clothes on the back of a chair take on the shape of a seem to move when there was no wind. A very low sound in the floor would seem a hundred times louder than in the day. My imagination would run wild, and my heart would beat fast. I would lie very sill so that the enemy would not discover me.

Another of my childhood fears was that I would get lost, especially on the way ho me from school. Every morning I got on the school bus right near my home. That was no problem. After school, though, when, all the buses were lined up along the street, I was afraid that I would get in the wrong one and be taken to some other strange places. On school or family trips to a park or a museum, I wouldn’t let the leaders out of my sight.

Perhaps one of the worst fears of all I had as a child was that of not being liked or accepted by others. Being popular was so important to me then, and the fear of not being liked was a serious one.

One of the processes(过程) growing up is being able to realize and overcome our fears. Understanding the things that scared us as children helps us achieve greater success later in life.

Whenever the sun dropped and the blue sky came up, my father and I used to climb the mountain near my house. Walking together, my father and I used to have a lot of conversations through which I learned lessons from his experiences. He always told me, “You should have goals like climbing the mountain.” Without the mountain-climbing that we both enjoyed, we couldn’t have enough time to spend together because my father was very busy. I really got a lot from the mountain-climbing. It gave me time to talk with my father and to be in deep thought as well as develop my patience.

Once we climbed a very high mountain. It was so challenging for me because I was only ten years old. During the first few hours of climbing, I enjoyed the flowers and trees, and the birds’ singing. But as time passed, I got a pain in both of my legs. I wanted to give up climbing, but my father said to me, “You can always see a beautiful sky at the top of the mountain, but you can’t see it before you reach the top. Only there can you see all of the nice things, which is just like your life.”

At that time, I was too young to understand his words. But later after that, I got to know the meaning of hope in life. I found myself standing at the top of the mountain, and the sky was as clear as crystal.

A group of swans flew down to a beach where a crow(乌鸦) was jumping around. The crow watched them with disdain(鄙视).“You have no flying skills at all!” he said to the swans.“All you can do is to move your wings. Can you turn over in the air? No, that’s beyond you. Let’s have a flying competition. I’ll show you what real flying is!”

One of the swans, a strong young male, took up the challenge. The crow flew up and began to show his skills. He flew in circles, performed other flying tricks, and then came down and looked proudly at the swan.

Now it was the swan’s turn. He flew up, and began flying over the sea. The crow flew after him, making all kinds of comments(评价) about his flying. They flew on and on till they couldn’t see the land and there was nothing but water on all sides. The crow was making fewer and fewer comments. He was now so exhausted that he found it hard to stay in the air, and tried his best to keep himself from falling into the water.

The swan pretended(假装) not to notice, and said,“Why do you keep touching the water, brother? Is that another trick?”“No,” said the crow. He knew he had lost the competition.“I’m in trouble because of my pride! If you don’t help me, I’ll lose my life…”

The swan took pity on him, and took him on his shoulders and flew back to the beach.

Two traveling angels stopped to spend the night in the home of a rich man. The rich man and his wife were very rude. They didn’t let the angels stay in their warm and comfortable guestroom. Instead, the angels were given a room in the cold basement (地下室).

As they made their bed on the hard floor, the older angel saw a hole in the wall and repaired it. When the younger angel asked why, the older angel replied, “Things aren’t always what they seem.”

The next night, they came to rest at the house of a very poor farmer. The farmer and his wife were very friendly. They didn’t have much food, but they shared it with them. Then they let the angels sleep in their bed. When the sun came up the next morning, the angels found the farmer and his wife crying. Their only cow died.

The younger angel was angry and asked the older angel, “How could you let this happen? The first man had everything, yet you helped him. The second man had very little, but you let his cow die.”

“Things aren’t always what they seem,” the older angel replied.“When we stayed in the basement, I found that there was gold in that hole in the wall. Since the owner didn’t want to share his fortune, I sealed (密封) the wall so that he wouldn’t find it. Then last night, as we slept in the farmer’s bed, the angel of death came for his wife. I gave the angel a cow instead. Things aren’t always what they seem.”

If just once you are  deceitful and tell a lie, it will greatly change people’s opinions about you and their way of acting toward you. When you tell a lie, you lose that person’s trust forever or have to work your whole life to get it back.
It is my personal goal to achieve great things in life and honesty(诚实) will sure help me get there. For me right now losing somebody’s trust would be a truly terrible thing. My parents would be stricter on the things they let me do and the places that they used to let me go to. My friends would never again tell me a secret or believe many things I told them. Whatever you do for a living or wherever you live, honesty is something very important.
Honesty gets you much higher in life while telling a lie can make you get into more problems. I can already tell that the great people I have met so far are all honest people.
I hope that I’ll never fall into a situation where I’ll lie. Honesty is just as important to me as my family. Already, I know it is something that will improve my future and my relationship with all people. It is something about myself that I hope never to lose no matter what happens. Honesty will help me no matter whether I’m at school, home or just hanging out with friends. It is something that I hope my children will also have and value.

"BANG!" the door caused a reverberation (回声). It was just standing there, with father standing on one side, and I on the other side.

We were both in great anger. "Never set foot in this house again!" shouted father. With tears welling up in my eyes, I rushed out of the apartment and ran along the street.

The street lights were shining, causing rather sad-feeling. I walked aimlessly(漫无目的).

A young father who held a child in his arms walked past me. I felt as if I saw my childhood from another space: happy and carefree.

But now…I don't know whether it is because I have grown up or because Dad is getting old. We are different in our ways of thinking. He always puts his opinions and rules of behavior on me.

We are just like two people coming from two different worlds. It feels like three is an iron door between us that can never be opened.

I walked on the streets, without an aim in mind. My heart was frozen on this hot summer night. There were fewer and fewer people on the streets. I walked on until I had only the street lights to keep me company. When I finally reached where I lived. I saw all the lights were off except father's. I thought to myself, "Is father waiting for me, or is he still angry with me?"

Dad was always like this. Maybe he didn't know how to express himself. After an argument, he never showed any moments of regret. However, he always has the habit of moving quietly and putting my arms underneath the quilt in my sleep.

This was how he always was. He has been a leader for so long that telling everyone else what to do has become his second nature.

The light was still on. "Am I wrong?" I whispered, maybe... With the key in my hand, I was very nervous. At last, I decided to open the door. As soon as I opened the door, I saw my father making my bed, my tears running down my cheeks. I suddenly realized that the iron door that I had imagined between us disappeared completely. Love------it's second to none.

One windy spring day, I noticed young people having fun using the wind to fly their kites. Colorful creations of different shapes and sizes filled the skies like beautiful birds flying and dancing. As the strong winds blew against the kites, a string (线) kept them in control.

Instead of blowing away with the wind, they rose against it to achieve great heights. They shook and pulled, but the restraining (控制的) string and the cumbersome (笨重的) tail kept them in control, facing upward and against the wind. As the kites struggled against the string, they seemed to say, “Let me go! Let me go! I want to be free!” They rose beautifully even when they fought therestrictionof the string. Finally, one of the kites succeeded in breaking loose (松散的). “Free at last,” it seemed to say. “Free to fly with the wind.”

Yet freedom (自由) simply put it in the control of an unkind wind. It fell down to the ground and landed in a mass of weeds and string against a dead bush. “Free at last”, free to lie powerlessly in the dirt, to be blown helplessly along the ground, and to stop lifelessly against the first obstacle (障碍物).

How much like kites we sometimes are. The Heaven gives us adversity (逆境) and rules, rules to follow from which we can grow and get power. Some of us break away from the rules so hard that we never reach the heights we might get to. We keep part of the rules and never rise high enough to get our tails off the ground.

Let us each rise to the great heights, knowing that some of the rules that we may be angry about are in fact the strong power that helps us achieve.

Billy Dengler, a 14-year-old boy, is in the eighth grade. A month after he was born, Billy’s mother, Terri, noticed that his eyes weren’t quite as big as a normal baby’s. She took Billy to the hospital, and the doctor said Billy would never be able to see.

Although Billy can’t see, he has never let that hold him back or make him different. Billy began teaching himself computer programming by using a screen reader when he was just seven years old. He is a certified Google developer (谷歌认证开发者) now. Google even tried to offer him a job last year when he discovered a problem in one of its systems, but Billy wasn’t old enough.

Billy’s dream school would be Stanford University or MIT, where he could get a very good education in computer science. After he leaves school, whether he will go to work at a company like Google or design a software(软件) company of his own is still to be decided. However, he says he will definitely (绝对地) do something great.

“It’s a sighted world,” Billy said. “You can’t let anything get in the way of your dreams, and if you do that, you can’t move forward and make your dreams come true.”

What’s the most important thing for you to have in your life? Somebody says hard-work; others suggest knowledge, love and luck.

If you arrange the 26 English letters alphabetically(按字母表顺序)and use the numbers to count each of them, for example, 1 for a, 2 for b, 3 for c..., you can change an English word into a number. So hard-work become 8+1+18+4+23+15+18+11=98, meaning 98 is its mark; knowledge : 11+14+15+23+12+5+4+7+5=96, while love: 12+15+22+5=54,and luck: 12+21+3+11=47, a small mark. None of these words can give one a full mark. What about money or prayer(祈祷)? They can’t, either.

Then what else? Don’t be worried. You can always find an answer to a problem in your life, when you change your way of looking at things or doing things, or your attitude(态度). Yes, the attitude is the word. See for yourselves: attitude:1+20+20+9+20+21+4+5=100, a full mark.

Different attitudes lead to different courses of life. Most time people hope for a better life. It is possible that one will have a change for the better after one has changed one’s attitude.

When you change your manner and become friendly to others, you’ll meet more smiling faces to you. In the same way, if you take a positive(积极的) attitude to failure(失败), you’ll find it’s also rewarding though it has caused you losses.
