Gifts are given for many reasons. For festivals , for thanks, for birthdays, for important days. But it is known that teenagers can’t afford to buy expensive gifts. So what do you  do if you want to give gifts to the important people in your life? Here are some ideas you can try:

              Gifts for your parents:

You can help your mom clean the room, help your dad wash the car or the bike. Sing a song, draw a picture or write a thanks letter to them. You could also say “ I love you, and thank you very much.” and then given them a big hug.

               Gifts for your teachers:

Sometimes students put their pocket money together to buy a gift for the teacher. But the real special gift can’t be bought in stories. You can   (1)   it by yourself. For example, make a nice card with the words of thanks inside. It will make the teacher feel   (2)  .

              Gifts for your friends:

                    (3)   time is the best gift for friends. Just spend a day chatting with him or her   (4)  and happily. Even just sit together without   (5)   anything. It’s a small thing, but it could mean a lot to him or her.

              Ladies and gentlemen:

It gives me a great pleasure to join you for this important invitation as the UN marks its 70th anniversary(联合国纪念成立70周年). Education is very close in my heart. My father   (1)   up in a very small village in China. In those days, not many villagers could   (2)  . So my father opened a night school to teach them how to read. With his help, many people   (3)   to write their own names; with his help, many peoplelearned to read newspapers for the   (4)   time; with his help, many women were able to teach their   (5)   how to read. As his daughter, I know what education means to the people, especially those without it.

                (6)   generations(代,辈) of hard work, China has come a long way in education. I myself am a beneficiary (受益者) of that progress. Without education, I would never become a soprano(女高音) and a musical professor . I am   (7)   my father’s footsteps(足迹) by teaching at China’s Conservatory of Music(中国音乐学院) to help continue China’s success story.

I was once asked   (8)  my Chinese dream. I said I hope   (9)  children especially girls can get good education. This is my Chinese dream. I believe one day education first will no longer be a dream, it will be a reality   (10)   by every young woman on this planet. Thank you very much.
