Young children don’t have the skills or knowledge to stay safe in heavy traffic. The following tips(忠告)will be helpful for you to keep your children safe in heavy traffic.

Children learn about road safety by watching others. As parents, make sure that you always set good examples. Your children will follow you and think it’s OK to do like you.

Teach your children to pay attention to traffic lights when you cross the road together with them. This helps them understand when it’s safe to cross. Make sure that you walk between your children and traffic, and hold their hands all the time.

When your children are a little older, you can start to tell them the importance of traffic knowledge. ①Let them start to understand the reasons why they need to be so careful. Talk with them about road signs and traffic rules.

Ask your children to play in a safe place. Never let them ride bikes on the road ______ an adult present (在场) at rush hour.

The most important thing you can do is to keep your children from getting hurt,so parents encourage them to follow traffic rules. After knowing about traffic rules, they’ll volunteer to obey them. In this way, they’ll be careful enough to keep themselves away from danger.

Is it difficult for you to remember things? I’d like to tell you some ways to improve your memory, so you shouldn’t feel upset.

My first advice is that if you want to remember something well, you have to review it regularly(有规律地). (3)You might review the material two days after you learn it, then a week later, then two weeks later, and then a month later. After a month you will find that you can easily remember the material.

My second advice is to use a colored pen to highlight(标注) the important parts on your book. This will help you in two days. First, it will help you pay attention to the most important parts when you learn the language. It is always easier to remember only the key points. Second, this will make reviewing easier. When you open your book, the colored parts will show you the most important things quickly. In this way, you don't have to review all the material again.

Another piece of advice is to use the proper time well. First, review all the information in your mind right before you go to sleep. Your brain is working while you are sleeping. If you think about the information before you go to sleep, you might be able to remember it better.(4)Another good time for memorizing information is in the morning because you have just rested and your brain is fresh and clear. So you might also try to review the important information in the morning.

              根据短文内容简要回答问题。

One day, a baby snail(蜗牛) found that he had to carry a big and heavy shell(壳) at any time.He was confused(困惑的), so he went up to his mother and asked, “ Why was I born with a shell that grew so hard and heavy?” His mother said, “Because we don’t have bones(骨头) to hold us up.We can only move slowly, so we need a shell to protect us.”

The baby snail asked again, “The caterpillar(毛毛虫) has no bones, either, and she can’t move quickly. Why can she live without a shell?” The mother snail answered, “That’s because a caterpillar will become a butterfly. She can fly high into the sky.The sky can protect her.”

The baby snail had one more question, “But the earthworm(蚯蚓) moves like us.He has no bones and he won’t turn into a butterfly. Why doesn’t he carry a hard and heavy shell?” His mother said, “He can dig a hole and hide in the ground, and then the earth can protect him.”

The baby snail then cried, “We are so poor! We have no protection from the sky or from the ground!” His mother smiled at him, “That’s why we have a shell. My dear, imagine that if we don’t have the shells, what will happen to us? Hot sun will dry out our bodies and we’ll have nowhere to sleep. What’s worse, we’ll die in the heavy rain. How terrible it is! We don’t depend on the sky or the ground for protection. We should depend on ourselves.”

Many people run for exercise. But what will you do if you are not a “born” runner or jogger (慢跑者)? You may still want a kind of exercise that’s inexpensive and easy to do. Why not try walking?

Walking requires no special equipment (装备). It is a kind of exercise that almost any normal, healthy person can do. Walking is good for your health like jogging or running; it will just take longer. Jogging and running make your heart work harder than walking. They also put more stress on your legs and feet than walking does.

The problem with walking is that most people don’t take it seriously. But there’s a big difference between serious walking and the walking that most of us do. Walking, like jogging, should have a steady and continuous motion (稳健而持续的动作).

If you want to get your exercise by walking, you need to have your own walking plan. After all, runners and joggers set goals for themselves. Walkers need goals, too. You also need to set a course to walk. Start by walking about 15-30 minutes a day. Increase your time and distance (距离) slowly. And try increasing your walking speed little by little.

If you prefer to jog or run, follow the same advice. Start off slowly. Spend most of the first few days just walking. Then, start walking and running on the same day. Run or jog a short distance, then walk for a while, then, run, then walk. Follow that pattern for 15-30 minutes a day. Slowly make each run longer and each walk shorter. Later on, you can increase your distance, speed and exercise time.

              (1) 将划线短语 a “born” runner译为汉语。

              (2) 列举两条Jogging和running对身体部位的影响。
