China has its own holidays, such as the Spring Festival and Mid-Autumn Day, so we don't have to celebrate holidays from other countries. Some people spend a lot of money celebrating Christmas Day. People buy lots of gifts for their friends and families, but this is not the best way to show their love.

Some teenagers can have a good time during their vacation, but some of them have part-time jobs because they want to increase their pocket money. And most of their parents allow them to do so.

   In my opinion, this is not a bad thing. But I think teenagers should not have part-time jobs until they are sixteen years old. Parents should not allow their children to work under this age and no one is willing to hire(雇用) a child under this age.

   A job is necessary in life. But before we learn to make money, we should first get a good education and we must get the education from the school and our families until a certain age. We can’t teach ourselves if we are only eight or nine years old. Besides, we should also learn how to spend money wisely. We can’t have a kind of “measure” of spending money if we don’t make it.

   On the other hand, having a part-time job makes us get in touch with different people. We will learn how to be more patient with others and with life itself.

Parents now need tobribechildren to make them read at bedtime, a new survey said. Rewards include late bedtime, sweets and chocolate, and trips to parks and zoos.

   Teachers are also offering rewards, with nearly eight in ten saying they give stickers and three in ten promising creative activities, such as drawing or painting for extra reading time. Over a quarter of 251 primary teachers and 501 parents of three-to-eight-year-olds showed.

   Helen Parker, one publisher, said, “In a time when there are so many digital(数码) things, parents have to bribe their children to pick up a book with promises of late bedtime, trips out and even money and sweets. We need books that are up to date, exciting and attractive so that children want to spend time reading.”

   Parents and teachers also questioned the quality of the books for their children at school. More than a third said that the books were “unimaginative”, “outdated and old-fashioned” or “boring”. Teachers said children were losing interest in reading because of “boring storylines, out-of-date content(内容), simple characters and a lack(缺乏) of humor.”

   The research also showed that children who read with their parents most nights are ahead of their classmates who do not. Nearly a third of teachers said that pupils who do not read often with their parents are likely to always remain behind pupils who do.

   Researchers found children who are taught where to put the stress(重) in words and sentences can have a “great influence” on their reading progress.

Many teenagers feel that the most important people in their lives are their friends. They believe that their family members, especially (特别是) their parents, don’t know them as well as their friends do. In large families, it is quite often for brothers and sisters to fight with each other and then they can only go to their friends for advice.

It is very important for teenagers to have one good friend or a circle of friends. Even when they are not with their friend, they usually spend a lot of time talking among themselves on the phone. This communication(交流) is very important in children’s growing up, because friends can discuss something ,these things are difficult to say to their family members. However, parents often try to choose their children’s friends for them. Some parents may even stop their children from meeting their good friends.
