Rob Frenette had problems with bullies(欺辱) at school for eleven years. He was often lonely and scared. When he was fifteen, however, he decided to do something about his problems. He walked into a newspaper office and told them about the bullying. His story went into the newspaper and soon all the TV stations in Canada wanted to talk to him about his experiences. They also wanted to hear his ideas to stop bullying.

      After that, Rob continued his studies at school, but in his free time he helped other people

with bullying problems. With a friend Katie , he made a website called www.bullyingcanada. ca. Visitors to the website can find advice, stories and poems about bullying, in both English and French . When people are upset, they can talk on the phone or online to Rob and his team . Every weekend Rob has to answer e-mails to the website. He also speaks to children, teachers and members of government around the country about bullying.

      Rob’s most important message is: “When bullies are unkind to you, it isn’t your fault. There’s nothing wrong with you, so you should try to keep trusting yourself. And remember that people care about your problems. You just have to findthose people.”

      One of Rob’s ideas is “Blue Day”, a special day for stopping bullying in schools. Students have to wear blue clothes and in class they learn how to stop bullying. More than 150 Canadian schools now celebrate Blue Day, but Rob won’t stop until there’s a Blue Day in every school in Canada.

Malls（购物中心）are popular places for Americans to go to. Some people spend so much time at malls that they are called mall rats. Mall rats shop until they visit hundreds of stores.

People like malls for many reasons. They feel safe because malls have police stations. Parking is usually free. And the weather inside is always fine. The newest malls have beautiful rest places with waterfalls and large green trees.

The largest mall in the United States is the Mall of America in Minnesota. It covers 4.2 million square feet. It has 350 stores, eight nightclubs, and a large park! There are parking spaces for 12,750 cars. About 750,000 people shop there every week.

The first indoor mall in the United States was built in 1965 in Edins Minnesota. People love doing all their shopping in one place. More malls are built around the country. Now malls are town centers where people come to do many things. They shop, and of course, they also eat in food courts（广场）that have food from all over the world. They see films at theaters. Some people even get their exercise by doing the new sport of “mall walking”. Others go to malls to meet friends.

In some malls, people can see a doctor and even go to the church. In other words, people can do almost everything in malls. Now people can live in their favorite shopping centers in fact.

Most American families are smaller than the families in other countries. Most American families have one or two parents and one or two children each. 

 Children in the US will leave their parents’home when they grow up. They usually live far from their parents because they want to find good jobs. They often write to their parents or telephone them. And they often go to visit their parents on holiday.

 Parents usually let their children choose their own jobs. Americans think it important for young people to decide on their lives by themselves.

 Children are asked to do some work around their house. And in many families, children are paid for doing some housework so that they learn how to make money for their own use.

Many teenagers（青少年） feel that the most important people in their lives are their friends. They think that their family members and even their parent don’t know them as well as their friend do. In large families, it is quite often for brothers and sisters to fight with each other and then they can only go to their friends for advice.

   It is very important for teenagers to have one good friend or a group of friends. Even when they are not with their friends, they usually spend a lot of time among themselves on the phone. The communication(交流) is very important in children’s growing up, because friends can discuss something . These things are  difficult to say to their family members. However, parents often try to choose their children’s friends for them. Some parents stop their children from their children from meeting their good friends.

Every year, many foreign students go to America to study English. Some of them will live in an American family, but others will make a different decision.  They’ll live with friends who come from their own country. I believe that if a foreign student thinks carefully about the two ways, he’ll decide to live with an American family. Even though there are one or two disadvantages to the first way, there are far more advantages.

    In making his decision about how to live in the USA, the foreign student is careful to think about one or two disadvantages to live with an American family. First of all, he must know that he’s going to feel homesick(想家的) at first. Living in an American family may make this feeling become stronger. Also, the American family may do too much to take care of him.  They may ask him where he’s going, when he leaves home, and when he’ll return.

    If a foreign student lives in an American home, he’ll know the country and its people much better. For example, he’ll see how the parents teach their children. He’ll feel better because the American family will help him get used to a new life. In an American family, he can learn English fast. Family members can help him with his homework. When he speaks English, they can help him correct the mistakes he makes. In this way, he can learn English more easily.

   Although there are some disadvantages to live in an American family, there are more advantages.

This “night birds” lifestyle has made many students nod off in class. Li Ming said that it is during afternoon classes that he feels most sleepy. “My parents are usually happy to see me studying so late,” he said. “They think I work very hard and they make me cups of coffee.”

However, not all the parents are happy about this “My daughter gets up so early. She looks tired and it really hurts me,” said one of the parents. Why don’t so many students get enough sleep? Now many members of society began to think about it.
