              Have you ever seen people building houses? To build a house, you need workers. They use their hands, tools (工具) and machines to put things together. In fact, building the ISS(国际太空站) is the same. The difference is that the workers are astronauts. They walk in space and use robots' arms and hands to do their work.

                 In the space station, astronauts always feel easy, because the temperature there is always about 21℃. But outside the station, it can be too hot or cold for people, In the sunlight, it's about 120℃; in the shadow of the station, it's about -85℃. So when astronauts walk in space, they have to wear heavy clothes — spacesuits. These special clothes can make the astronauts feel as comfortable as in the space station.

                Spacesuits also keep astronauts safe from flying rubbish (垃圾) in space. Each time people go into space, they leave rubbish there. So astronauts should be careful because there's a lot of rubbish—some rubbish goes many times as fast as a plane!

                 Space walking is not easy, and it can be dangerous. So getting ready for it takes a lot of time to learn. Astronauts will need to do 160 space walks to finish their work in the ISS. That will take about 1,900 man-hour of work.

              How to stop germs? Yeah, hand washing. You might pick up germs here and there. So when you wash your hands, you wash away germs.

              But how to wash your hands? That’s easy: wash your hands with soap and warm water (not cold or hot). Don’t forget to wash around your fingernails. This is one place germs like to be. Wash for about 15 to 20 seconds—about how long it takes to sing “Happy Birthday” twice.

              Foggy weather (雾霾天气) always makes people uncomfortable. When it comes to our health, it becomes more dangerous. When winter comes, we see a lot of foggy days in North China. The air is very bad for our health. The government decided to fight air pollution until the end. On December 5th, the Ministry of Environment Protection made a plan for cutting down air pollution for the coming years. According to this plan, China tries to cut the PM 2.5 pollution at least 5% by 2018 in117 cities. Human activities are the biggest reason of the PM 2.5 pollution, especially like motor vehicle emissions (机动车排放物).

                    Health experts say that smaller particles (颗粒) are far more dangerous and may get bad results on hearts and other important parts of our bodies. They can not be stopped in our nose, so they can travel into our bodies.

              “The beginning of the plan is to improve air quality and solve the PM 2.5 problem. This problem has a bad result to many people,” said Zhao Hualin who works for the ministry. He added that the key point is to protect people’s health.

              To finish the five-year-plan, China will use clean energy (清洁能源). At the same time, the country will use more city buses and subways to control the number of new cars.

              I’m a middle school student from America. I live far away from my school. So I often go to school by bus. It takes me about twenty minutes from my home to school.

              But at my school and other schools in our town, there is a “Walk to School Day”. It is on Wednesday every week. On that day, parents send their kids to a bus stop. There are many bus stops in our town. At each bus stop, two adults lead us to walk to school together.

              “Walk to School Day” stops us taking cars or buses. That is good for the air and we can get exercise too. On the way to school, we talk to each other. We can also make new friends. I like “Walk to School Day”. I walk about five kilometers with other students on that day. Our school will give some students beautiful backpacks if they do well. And I got one last year.
