One day as I was sitting in a coffee shop, I noticed a girl working on her laptop. Two people (A)passed byand accidentally knocked over her drink. To avoid the embarrassment (尴尬), the girl pretended (假装) that (B) ___ had happened and continued working on her computer.

This reminded me that both in China and Britain, when something strange happens around you or when you are in an embarrassing situation, (C) people tend (倾向于) to use this common way not to catch other people’s attention.

A lot of the time, Britons（英国人）use self-depreciating humor (自嘲式的幽默). This is a well-known British characteristic (特色). For example, imagine walking (D) ___ your friends and you fall over. Your friend may just say (E)“旅途愉快!”Or you may just laugh about how clumsy (笨拙的) you are. For many Britons, making fun of yourself is a way of showing your strength of character.

Also, British are considerate when it comes to embarrassing others. For example, students (F)usuallyhave a birthday party every year. So during the school day, a student will give out invitations to the class. If one person doesn’t get an invitation, but the rest of the class do, he or she will feel embarrassed. To avoid it, it’s common for students to even invite people who aren’t (G)theirfriends.

My name is Mariusz Kedzierski and I’m 23-year-old Polish artist. Mostly, I make drawings. There is nothing special, except for one thing – I was born without arms.

But for me disability（残疾）doesn’t mean that I can’t live my own, great life. It doesn’t mean that I have to give up my dreams. Art has been my way of life for 7 years. Since that time I have drawn over 700 drawings that took me 15,000 hours. Thanks to my hard work and determination , I got 2nd prize “Best Global Artist” in Vienna in 2013. I participated in exhibitions in Cracow, Vienna, Oxford, Wroclaw and more.

Now I am travelling around the Europe, drawing on the streets of Berlin, London, Paris, Barcelona, Rome, and many other cities. I called this project ‘Mariusz Draws’. This way, I want to encourage all the people and tell them that all the limits are in our heads.

I am writing to my parents from the centre of Australia . At the moment , we are staying near Ayers Rock .On the first day , we took a plane tour over the rock , and I was surprised at how big it was : 3.6 kilometres long and 348 metres high! During different periods of the day , the colours of the rock turn dark blue , purple , yellow and red .

  The Australians have a close relationship with the British . Many have British relatives , and they are like us in many ways . The foods that Australians like most are ham and beef with lots of salad . They also grow grapes and other fruits .They love all sports.( A)But the game that they like most is Australian football . Because most Australians live near the coast , they also love going to the beach for swimming and surfing or just lying in the sun .

  (B)尽管是12月，但这里是夏季。The sun is very bright , and near the coast the countryside is very green . There are lots of sheep in the fields and on the hills , but the middle of the country has no trees or grass , just rocks and sand ...And kangaroos!

  On the second day , we went horse riding . The horse that I rode was lazy , so I was left far behind the others . But I enjoyed the slow and relaxing ride .

  Later this evening , we are taking the plane back to Sydney and coming home . It has been a wonderful trip .

When a leader visits another country, he or she sometimes goes to the country’s most places. It’s to show respect for the local culture. For the leaders, it’s also a good time to relax during a tiring foreign trip.

He thinks theForbidden Cityis a beautiful place to visit. He said, ”I will come back with my family.”

On Wednesday, he took a quick tour of the Great Wall at Badaling. There, he enjoyed a moment of peace. 2 He had a good time there.

Tom and Jerry

Tom the cat and Jerry the mouse are two of the most popular（A） ________characters in the world. In the short cartoons, Tom is always trying to (B)_______ Jerry, but he never has any success. Almost every cartoon (C)ends with Tom in trouble and Jerrylaughing athim. (D)The stories are full of fun and have a long history.

The first Tom and Jerry cartoon was shown in cinemas in 1940. It was a great success. Over the next 17 years, they made many Tom and Jerry cartoons. Most of them are (F)around seven minutes long.

Robert is 12 years old and he is from England. Now he is in China with his uncle. He studies(学习) in a new school in Beijing now. His school is big and nice. There are a lot of trees and flowers in it. Behind the school there is a lake(湖) and it’s very nice. Robert goes swimming with his classmates in summer.

Robert has three friends at school. Jane is an American girl. Guo Hai and Wang Linfeng are Chinese. They are nice to him and helphima lot.
