My mother only had one eye. And because of this, I never wished her to come to my school, One day I was terribly ill. My mother came.“Your mom only has one eye?!” asked some of my classmates. I was so embarrassed(难堪的).I wished my mother would just  (1)  from this world. “If you make me laughed, why don’t you just die?” I shouted   (2)   her, not looking at her sad look on her face. She gave me some medicine and then left, without saying  (3)  . At that time, I felt good to say what I always wanted to say, and I didn’t think I had hurt her feelings very much. That night I saw my mom  (4)  in her room, so quietly. Even so, I hated her tears from one eye. I made a  (5)  : I must study hard and leave my mother.Years later,I was quite successful and lived  (6)  . I never thought of going back to see my “ugly” mother  (7)  one day I got a letter: “Dear son… I’m sorry I only have one eye. When you were little, you got into an accident and lost your eye. As a mom, I don’t want you to live with only one eye.   (8)  I gave you mine. I was never  (9)  with you and I never regretted(后悔) what I did because I  (10)  you…”. I cried out aloud. I can’t remember when I started collecting litter. But it was when I got tired of   26 litter nearby that I realized no one else was going to pick it up.

I live near a forest inOhio, America. I can walk there 27 three minutes. I used to love going there to play with my dog. But one day there was 28 much litter there that I became very unhappy. I decided to clean up the forest, and I wanted to 29 happy when I went there again. I made my first trip to clean the forest that afternoon. I took a big black rubbish bag with me. Ten minutes   30 I started to pick up litter, my bag was full! There were cans, bottles, broken glass and newspapers in it.

From then on, I 31 to the forest four times a year to pick up litter. I often stay there for three hours. It makes me feel 32 to do something for the environment. After each trip, I look through all the litter that I’ve collected. If 33 of it is recyclable (可回收利用的), I’ll keep it. I can’t understand why people drop litter. But I will keep on picking it up 34 they stop dropping it. I know I am only doing a small bit 35 the earth, but I still think it is important.

How did we help to save our earth this week? Let me tell you.

Second, we started recycling(循环,回收)this week. We tried to write on   (3)   of our paper, not just on one side. We also divided (分成) our rubbish into   (4)   bags for bottles, paper and food. Mum kept the plastic shopping bags from the supermarket to use them again as rubbish bags.

Third, my family started to save   (5)  . We stopped   (6)   long baths and had short showers   (7)  . We washed the toilet with used water. Mum and dad used less water to do the washing. My sister and I didn’t leave the tap running when we brushed our teeth.

At last, mum and dad began to save gas. Mum used to   (8)   us to school, but now my sister and I started riding our bikes to school. It’s hard work   (9)   good exercise! This week dad and a few of the people in his company also started to go to work in one car and share the   (10)  .

These are great ways to help protect our environment.

A thousand years ago Hong Kong was covered by a thick forest. As more and more people came to  (1)  in Hong Kong, these trees were cut down and burnt. Now there is  (2)  forest left, though there are still some small areas covered with trees. We call these woods.

Elephants, tigers and many  (3)  animals were living in the thick forest. When people came to live in Hong Kong, the  (4)  began to die out. Early farmers grew rice and  (5)  pigs and chickens in the valleys. They cut down the trees and burnt them. They needed  (6)  to keep themselves warm in winter, to cook their food and to keep away the dangerous animals. Elephants quickly disappeared because there was not enough food for them.  (7)  did most of the wolves and tigers. Monkeys and many other animals soon     (8)  in the same way.

You might think that there are no longer any animals in Hong Kong  (9)  in the zoos. But there are still about 36 different animals  (10)  there. One of the most interesting of Hong Kong’s animals is the barking deer. These are beautiful little animals  (11)  a rich brown coat and a white patch under the tail. They look like deer but they are much smaller. They are less than two feet  (12)  .They make a noise rather like a dog  (13)  .In Hong Kong the barking deer has only a real enemy—  (14)  .People hunt these little animals though it is illegal. There are now not many barking deer left. So it is important  (15)  people to protect wild animals.

When you go to the seaside, maybe you will notice(注意) that the wind very often comes from the sea to the land in the  (1)  part of the day, but in the evening, the wind blows in the opposite direction(方向).Why does this happen?

In the morning, when the sun   (2)   ,it begins to warm the land   (3)   the se a. The land  (4)   warm faster than the sea. So while the air above the sea is cool ,the air over the land   (5)  warmer. The air   (6)  the land rises and the cool air from the sea moves   (7)   the land.

When evening comes,   (8)  the sea and the land become cool, but the land cools more   (9)   than the sea. The wind now changes   (10)   direction.
