Happiness is for everyone ,Why? You don’t need to care about the rich .They have big houses but they may often feel lonely because they have few friends to talk with, They have cars but they want to walk on the country roads in their free time.

In fact ,Happiness is always around you. When you are in trouble , your friends will help you. When you study hard at your lessons ,your parents are always taking good care of your life and your health. All these are happiness.

When you are poor, you can also say you are very happy, because you have something else. Money can’t buy that. When you meet with problems, say loudly that you are happy , because you have more chances to challenge (挑战) yourself.

If you get a chance ,take it and you can be a happy and lucky man.

Whenever the sun dropped and the blue sky came up, my father and I used to climb the mountain near my house. Walking together, my father and I used to have a lot of conversations through which I learned lessons from his experiences. He always told me," You should have goals like climbing the mountain." Without the mountain-climbing that we both enjoyed, we couldn't have enough time to spend together because my father was very busy. I really got a lot from the mountain-climbing. It gave me time to talk with my father and to be in deep thought as well as develop my patience(耐力).

Once we climbed a very high mountain. It was so challenging(挑战性的) for me because I was only ten years old. During the first few hours of climbing, I enjoyed the flowers and trees, and the birds' singing. But as time passed, I got a pain in both of my legs. I wanted to quit climbing, In fact, I hated it at that moment, but my father said to me, "You can always see a beautiful sky at the top of the mountain, but you can't see it before you reach the top. Only there at the top, can you see all of the nice things, which is just like your life."

At that time, I was too young to understand his words. But later after that, I got new hope and confidence. I found myself standing at the top of the sky, which was as clear as crystal(水晶).

When you think of a forest, what do you see? Just trees? Or do you see many other things, such as singing birds, colorful plants and wild flowers? The forest is a whole world of its own.It is full of many different living things. But even though they are all different, they have one thing in common: they all need each other in order to live on.The trees feed the forest “people” by making food in their leaves; by using sunlight to join water and minerals(矿物) from the soil and air.Their roots joins the soil together and stops it from dying out, making it possible for living things to live in it.

People are like the living things in the forest. We need one another in order to live.We need farmers to grow our food, railroad and truck drivers to bring it to our shops and clerks(售货员) to sell it to us.We need people to prepare our food and cook it and others to take the rubbish away. Then,of course,we need doctors, nurses, government leaders, mailmen, telephone operators, and many others. We need people for friendship,to talk about our problems, exchange ideas.Think how lonely and unhappy you would be if you lived alone.Life is giving and taking.Think what a good feeling you have when you do something for someone else.We need to help other people and we also need other people to help us.

Once my mother told me a story. In Africa, when an antelope(羚羊)wakes every morning, the first thing it thinks about is, “I must be able to run faster than the fastest lion, or I’ll be killed.” At the same time, a lion wakes from his dream. The first thing the lion thinks about is, “I must be able to catch the slowest antelope, or I’ll starve(饥饿) to death.” So almost the same time, the antelope and the lion get up and start running toward the rising sun.

This is life: full of chances and challenges. Whether you are an antelope or a lion, you must go ahead when the sun rises. For students, it is just the same. If we do not study hard, sooner or later, we will fall behind the other students. At first, I didn’t know what the word “exam” meant. Later, I knew an exam was a kind of competition. In competitions, there are always winners and losers. As I grew up, I got to know competition well. In one’s life, there must be competitions, so people can improve.

Each time I saw children playing games, and heard their laughter, I wished I were that age again, However, I remembered my parents’ words: “You must work very hard in order to have a good future.” So I picked up my pen and began to study hard again.

I was still not sure what competition really meant. One day, I was taking part in an English-speaking competition. When I went to the stage, I saw other students looking at me kindly, I suddenly knew what competition was. It is not as cruel as my teacher and my parents told me. In fact, competition is the opposite: it is kind and necessary.

I learned a lot from realizing this fact. Now I understand more about the world. Competition is important for us all.

Flow like the river of change

Little stream ran down from a high mountain through many villages and forests. Then it reached a desert. “I went through so many difficulties. I should have no problem crossing the desert,” she thought. As she started, she found herself slowly disappearing into the sand. After many tries, she still failed. “Maybe I can’t reach the ocean,’’ she said sadly to herself.

At thistime,a deep voice said, “If a breeze(微风)can cross the desert, so can a river.” It was the voice of the desert. But the little stream answered, ‘‘That’s because a breeze can fly, but I cannot.”

“That’s because youcan’t give up what you are. Let yourself evaporate(蒸发)into the breeze, and it can take you across,” said the desert. “Give up what I am now? No! No!” The little stream could not accept this idea. “The breeze can carry the vapor(蒸汽)across the desert and let it leave as rain. The rain will form a river again,” said the desert. “And whether you’re a river or vapor, your nature never changes.” Hearing this, the little stream went into the open arms of the breeze. It carried her to the next stage of her life.

The course ofour lives is like the experience of the little stream. If you want to go through difficulties in your life to head for success, you should also change the way you are.

One day, I took an underground to work, I saw something that made me very sad. On the tube( underground in London), a mother kept looking at her phone screen and playing a game with her daughter sitting beside her. The little girl, about 5 years old, was talking to her mother about her day, repeating the next stop's name cheerfully, praising her mother's long nails--trying to draw her mother's attention. Her mother just nodded and mumbled "Mm, hm" with her eyes glued to the screen, busy passing the levels of the game. I watched the girl give a final try to at least get her mum to look at her, but it was no use. Then the little girl turned silent. It was a shame the mother didn't notice that.

It broke my heart and got me wondering--what kind of game would make the mother forget she has the most beautiful thing in the world, the human she created, the person she loves with all her heart? What it meant when she couldn't look into her daughter's eyes and even stop to listen to the girl?

Some parents are almost like the teenagers, always on their phones with mindless games or going through Facebook. Perhaps parents have many things to deal with, but sometimes they are everything to their kids.

This is not an isolated example. I've seen too many such examples. I might not be a parent myself, and probably still have a long way before becoming one, but I know what I saw isn't right.

The scene used to be seen among teenagers very often when parents complained how their children were crazy about their mobile phones. Look how the situation has changed! The parents have become "technology slaves", that is to say, they can't control themselves while using mobile phones. Now some middle-aged parents hold the best iPhones or Samsung phones, which are probably the only two brands they know. They are playing the simple games with so expensive mobile phones. I'm uncertain whether to laugh or to cry. But my hope is that this storm passes.

Have you ever noticed that you’re treated (对待) differently in stores based on your sex (性别), age, race (种族) and even the way you dress? I certainly have, so I wanted to see exactly what happens inside these stores that are meant to be run with “customer (顾客) service”.

A young man in ripped (撕破的) jeans and an old jacket went into a car shop and asked for a price on the top of the line vehicle (汽车). The salesman looked him up and down and said, “I don’t think you can afford a car like this. Have a look at theinferiorcars over here.”

As you can imagine, the young man was angry and left the showroom. Two days later, the young man walked back in, and he walked up to the salesman who had served him two days before and asked, “Hi, do you remember me? You said I should look at the inferior cars the other day.” The salesman nodded and said yes.

The young man then asked him to just quickly come outside and have a look at something. They walked out and the young man pointed to the brand-new (全新的) top of the line Ford and said, “I paid with cash (现金), do you like my new car?” And then the salesman quickly left.

Maybe many businesses don’t understand a fact if they don’t treat their customers equally, they will lose business. Not every one of the above people will ever go back to those companies and they won’t recommend them to anyone. You will not only lose repeat business but also lose up to 10 customers, for every person you treat badly will not recommend your companies and will tell people not to go to these places.

Friendship is something that everyone needs. Success is nothing without friends. You share life, happiness and sadness. A friend is someone you can depend on in a time of need and that can trust you with every secret he or she has.

So what happens when a friendship of eight years is broken over something out of their control? Does that mean it was never a true friendship to begin with?

My friend and I met in high school and have known each other for nearly eight years. What happened recently broke our lifelong friendship.

This makes me think about what friendship really means. I always thought my friend and I could get through any argument, fight, or the sadness of life. We promised each other we'd always be friends, through thick and thin. We even joked about how we would sit in a circle and laugh at some jokes when we had grandchildren. We always laughed at every little thing.

But then her grandfather passed away and suddenly our friendship was nothing. It happened so suddenly that I never found out about it until I discovered a note she had written on the interact. I was sad and hurt that she would post what I told her for other people to see. I understand that she was sad and wanted to vent (发泄) her sadness, but I wish she'd kept everything between us.

I don't understand why she broke our friendship, and I don't think I ever will. I think friendship means we'll always forgive each other for our mistakes. I hope that finally I'll find that a true friend who will always be there for me, I there for her.

One little miracle (奇迹) has been happening to me recently, and it gives me a special joy.

A few months ago, I was telling my daughter, Sally, some stories about my mother. My

daughter was so young when my mother died that she doesn’t remember her well. I told her all

I could remember, like how wonderful my mother was and how much she meant to me.

One day, Sally was sad because her grandmother was in heaven (天堂) and she couldn’t

see her. I explained that though her grandmother was dead,  now she was still watching over us

and could send us something to let us know she was there. She could be anywhere, even riding

invisibly (看不见地) on the back of a butterfly (蝴蝶). Just after I said this, a butterfly

flew down right by us, and we laughed happily.

Now many people would say it was just luck that the butterfly flew down at that time. A funny

thing, however, has happened since then. Every time I go out in any type of weather I see

butterflies. Very often they fly right by my face to get my attention. I always say hi to Mom,

send her my love, and thank God for little miracles.

Everyone is always looking for some big miracles to come out and save them when they are in

trouble, but they don’t notice the little miracles that happen every day right in front of their

eyes. I know what they really are, however. For me little miracles are the best kind. So many

little miracles happen around me all the time that I know they are not just luck.
