As we all know, Chinese students are hard-working. But they’re   (1)  at the same time.

At school, they have to follow the strict school  (2)  . For example, they   (3)   have long hair or wear strange (奇怪的) clothes.

And at home, they’re always busy with their homework and they don’t have any free time to do what they like. Once (一旦) they don’t do well in exams, their parents will lose   (4)   for them.

On weekends, their parents tell them to take part in different classes they don’t like. They always feel   (5)   and bored. They   (6)   interest in school things slowly. Some students can’t   (7)   it and leave home. Because their parents only care about children’s study and they never   (8)   what they want.

“Many students can do nothing   (9)   study. Some students even don’t know  (10)   to get on well with others and how to take care of others,”said an expert (专家).

“This is a serious problem. It’s necessary for us to think it over and solve it well,”said another expert.

            • 2. There is good news for the children in the countryside. We may still    (1)  the girl with big eyes. Her big eyes are telling     (2)    her dream: I wish to go to    (3)   ! In China, there are still lots of girls and boys   (4)  her. They want to study in classrooms, but their families don’t have much money.   (5)   the family has two or three children, it is hard to let     (6)   the children go to school. So the parents often ask   (7)   to stay at home, and boys to go to school.
Now they don’t need to    (8)   the money. From 2006 children can go to school for free in some places. They don’t have to   (9)   for books and other things. Some of them can even get money from the government(政府) to     (10)   their life better. Soon all the children in the countryside can go to school for free. All families are very happy with the news. It is really great.

One day, I heard an American boy say to a Chinese girl student, “You speak very good English.” But the girl answered, “No, no. My English is very poor.” The foreigner was quite   (1)   at the answer. Thinking he had not made   (2)   understood or the girl had not   (3)   him clearly, he said, “Yes, indeed, you speak very well.”

                  (4)   the girl still kept saying, “No.” In the end the American boy could not understand and didn’t know     (5)   to say. What’s wrong with the girl’s answer? She didn’t    (6)   a compliment (恭维) in the same way as the American people do. She should answer, “Thank you” instead of “No”. She     (7)   understood what the American boy had said, but she thought she should be modest. In the    (8)  , people will feel proud and    (9)   when they are praised . So if someone says the     (10)   you have cooked are very delicious, you should say, “Thank you.”
In our country we think being modest is a virtue (美德) and being proud is a bad thing , but in my opinion, being confident does not    (11)   being proud, so sometimes you should be confident    (12)   being modest.
                    (13)   you are modest and say, “No, I’m afraid I can’t do it well”, while working in a western country, the others may think that you really cannot do it. If you often say “No”, you will certainly be looked down upon by    (14)  . When asking for a job, if one says something like “Yes, I can certainly do it” instead of “Let me have a try”, he or she will     (15)   get it. So in the west, you should be brave to show your self-confidence.

Planting flowers is my favorite   (1)  because I can learn something new from it.

I bought a flower pot (盆) and some flower seeds (种子) last week. Then I put some seeds in the pot. After a few days,   (2)   happened. But I didn’t give up watering. Another ten days later, I   (3)  the young plants come out. I felt very   (4)  because I could grow something.

Just like growing flowers, we can also plant happiness. Our life is   (5)   an empty (空的) pot. We have lots of things to do, but we   (6)  do them. That means we lose many things. What are the   (7)   things?Yes, they’re the seeds of   (8)  , love and dreams.

What should we plant in life? If we plant negative thoughts (消极思想) inside our   (9)  , we will feel sad in the future days; If we plant seeds of hope, we will get   (10)  .

            • 5. Once a circle lost a piece of its own. The circle wanted to be whole, so it went around looking for its missing piece. But because it was not complete,it could only roll very slowly. It enjoyed the flowers and the sunshine along the way. It talked with insects. It found lots of different pieces, but none of them fitted. So it left them all by the side of the road and kept on looking for the missing piece. Then one day the circle found a piece that fitted perfectly, it put the missing piece into itself. It could be whole, with nothing missing. It was so happy and began to roll. Now that it was a perfect circle, it could roll very fast, too fast to see flowers or talk to insects. It realized how different the world was when it rolled so quickly. It felt so sad that it stopped, left the piece it found by the side of the road and rolled away slowly.       Sometimes, we are perfect when we lose something. A man who has everything is a poor man in some ways. He will never have hopes, dreams or something better.      We couldn’t be perfect, but we must be brave enough to love, kind enough to share happiness with others and clever enough to know there is enough love around us and then we can always live a wonderful time in our lives.

To our great surprise , France was    (3)  . Today football has become very     (4)  in China after a 44-year    (5)  . “China is in the World Cup for the first time,     (6)  we should support them!” Said some people . In our school many students enjoy     (7)  it. My     (8)  and I often go to the football field after class.

This afternoon there was a     (9)  football match in our school.    (10)  team played against No.1 Middle School .  (11)  they were all very big and strong, it was a    (12)  game between the two teams with the result 0-0 last time. Today our school played much    (13)

“Thanks for our government. Thanks for providing us with such a good training program. The training program will help us live well. I will study hard and learn different skills. After that I can 41  my family difficulties and do good to others.” a learner on the job training program said, feeling 42 .The learner’s father is disabled, and his mother is   43  in bed. The family is very poor. So he has to find a job to make money. The learner graduated from high school and didn’t have the 44   to go to the college. The job training program can help him to learn the skills that he’ll need in the work place. The story makes me think of another   45 . It goes like this: Long long ago, there was a man who liked fishing a lot, and he was 46 to catch a lot of fish every day. He was a kind-hearted man, he always   47  his fish with his neighbors because they didn’t know how to fish. One day, he thought that it would be great if he taught them how to fish. So he called them together to show them how to fish. Everyone was happy as they could 48  the fish they caught by themselves. Now, there are still many poor people in the world. But it’s not good if we give only 49 to them. Instead, we should give them a chance to learn new skills. Therefore, technical training is very important to people in need and they will learn the skills to 50  money. People can learn lots of useful things in the training program and what they learn can help them find jobs.

Many kids think they are too common. They think they are not the prettiest or smartest. Sometimes kids don’t know how special they are. When they see excellent actors or cool pop stars, they often think: Am I excellent? What am I going to be when I grow up?

Growing up means understanding what you can do and what you can offer to the world. When you are young, you don’t see that. But when you get older, you may know that just by being yourself, you do offer something to other people.

Maybe you aren’t the best, but that doesn’t make you “not special”. Think about your friends. Write down some things that you like about them. Think about why you are friends. You are going to know that in the end, though they aren’t the smartest or the prettiest or the most talented, they are great in their way. And they feel just the same as you!

In fact it is great to be the best at something, but it’s OK if you can’t be the best. If you just live your life and try hard, you are still pretty amazing. And you can make your dream come true.

A famous teacher was speaking to the students at our school. He began his lesson by holding up a¥100 bill. Then he said to the three hundred students, “Who would like this 100 bill?” The students began to put up their hands at once.

Then he said, “I am going give this 100 to one of you, but first, let me do this.” He then made the bill into a ball. Then he said, “Who wants it now?” The hands went back to the air.

“Well,” he said, “what if I do this?” and he dropped it on the floor and stepped on it. He picked up the dirty bill and said, “Who still wants it?” Hands went back into the air.

“My friends,” he said, “you have learned a valuable lesson today. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not go down in value. It was still worth 100!”

Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and stepped on by the chances we take and the things that happen to us. We feel as if we are worth nothing. But remember, no matter what has happened to you, you will never lose your value: you are always valuable to those people who love you. Your value doesn’t come from what you do or whom you know, but WHO YOU ARE.

You are special and valuable. Don’t ever forget it!

We sometimes find it hard to forgive those who hurt us. But to forgive those who hurt us can bring peace in our heart, letting to of the past.

I grew up with an alcoholic dad. And he often beat us and my mom. Many times I ran away from home because of fear and slept over outside.

It all started when I was about 2 years old, until to my early twenties. I’m the eldest among four boys. In my late twenties, I forgave my dad in my heart. None of my brothers forgave him. They hate him, yet still talk to him.

About a month ago, I came to visit my parents. Usually my dad got home in time for supper after ending his business. He came home late at 11 p.m. that night and he was drunk. I was the only one still awake and for some reasons I didn’t go to bed. At first he shouted. Then he said he would beat everybody up. I just listened and watched him. Then he started crying, talking a lot, and asking for my forgiveness. And I knew he had a hard childhood, too.

That night I felt happy that I not only calmed him down, but got him to open his heart and asked for forgiveness.

It does not change the past, however, the future has not happened yet; we can make our future better.
