My phone rang this morning. When I picked it up, I heard the sweet voice of a young lady.

“Are your dogs missing?” she asked.

I realized that it was my neighbor. So I went to find my dogs quickly. After I   (1)  that they were all there, I was very happy. Then I answered to my neighbor, “Thank you.  (2)   of them are missing.”

My neighbor is a nice lady. She often makes cookies and shares them with neighbors. She is willing to help anyone   (3)  . Today she found two small dogs walking down the street. She took them in.

“They are good and get along well with my dogs,” she continued.

Then I walked out of the house to see if someone had come to look for those dogs. But I found nothing.

We are living a fast life. It seems that  (1)  has to be fast, for example, fast food, fast Internet, fast roads, fast money. Every day we try to get things done   (2)  but there are some moments that we have to slowdown and enjoy our lives.

We are always  (3)  every day. I have to work eight hours or more a day at my full-time job. When I get home, itˈs always over seven oˈclock. I make an effort to   (4)  something. I try to find a little time for my hobby--writing. But I hardly ever write or work  (5)  weekends. Because those are my days to try to recharge (休整) and reduce (减少) the stress from my work. Now more than 40 million (百万) foreigners around the world are learning Chinese, according to a report. The relationship (关系) between the United States and China is becoming. It has really   the growth of Chinese language learning in the US.

      I am Christ from the US. I am one of the many people learning     . I am studying at a Confucius institute (孔子学院) in New York. There are 10    in our class. Some are over 30 years old. Some are middle school students. Our Chinese teacher     Beijing. He often tells us some interesting things in China.

     I think Chinese is     to learn. The biggest challenge for American learners is the writing. Chinese is  different from any other language in the world.    

     It will   me a lot of time to learn enough Chinese characters (汉字). But I think there are many advantages of spending time    the language. One big advantage is that it makes me see things from a different point of view,      Chinese is such a different language from English.

     I think for American students the most important advantage is that learning a different language can open up their mind.
