As we know, rainforests are the lung of the earth. They   (1)   about 6% of the earth's surface. Half of the animals on Earth live in rainforests. The sloth(树懒) is one of them.

The sloth lives in the tree over 30 meters of the ground. It is the most interesting animal I know. It looks like a panda or a monkey. It always moves very slowly,   (2)   when it is in danger. But you can't imagine (想像) it is good at swimming. When it is in the   (3)  , it can swim like a big fish.

Many people think it is a kind of   (4)   animal. Why The sloth needs to   (5)  15 to 20 hours sleeping in the tree in the daytime. Yes, it does nothing  (6)   sleeping during the daytime. Maybe that's the reason why people think it's lazy. When does it eat meals? Of course at night. It   (7)   leaves of the trees. It eats nothing else. So it   (8)   live without forests.

The sloth is a kind of rare(珍稀) animal. If we can't protect it well, it will die out one day.

It’s very important that we all recycle (再利用). In nature, everything   (1)   again. For example, when an animal dies, it becomes   (2)   animal’s food. Nothing is wasted. But humans have created things like plastic bags   (3)   can’t be broken down by nature. Our rubbish kills animals and   (4)   water and soil.   (5)   we continue making too much rubbish, the problem will only get worse. If nature can’t reuse the rubbish, we must recycle   (6)  . We should clean up the rubbish we’ve made because nature can’t.

Recycling is also the right thing to do for another reason. The earth is rich in natural materials like water and trees,  (7)   these materials are not endless. We use up our natural materials much  (8)   than the earth is able to reproduce them. For example, each year we cut   (9)   more than 6,000 square miles of forest. But it takes an average of 25 years for a new tree  (10)  .

Recycling can help us save the earth, so let’s take action right now.

Yet, many of the children use computers to play games, to watch video or to sing Karaoke instead of   (6)  . Many teachers and parents   (7)  that computers cannot help children to study, but make them fall behind.   (8)  many computers are locked in boxes by parents.

In some other countries, even some scientists also   (9)   computers. They say computers let millions of people   (10)   their jobs or bring them a lot of trouble. Will computers really bring trouble to people? Can they bring people happiness? Only people who use computer can say it themselves!

Do you know how to play a game called "Musical Chairs"? It is easy to play and most students  (1)   it. All you need are some chairs, some people and some ways of  (2)   music. You may use a piano or any other musical instrument, if someone can play it. You may use a tape-recorder. You can even use a radio.

Put the chairs in a row. The chairs may be put in twos, back to back. A better way is to have the chairs in one row with  (3)   chair facing in the opposite direction to the chair next to it. Of course you can  (4)   put the chairs in a circle. Do remember the players must be one more than the chairs when you play the game every time.

The game is easy. When the music starts, the players  (5)  round the chairs. Every one goes in the same direction, of course. They should walk in time to the music. If the music is  (6)  they should walk quickly. If the music is slow, they should walk slowly.

The person playing music cannot  (7)   the people in the game. When the music stops, the players try to sit on the chairs.  (8)   a person cannot find a chair to sit on, he drops out. Then, before the music starts again, one chair must be taken away. When the music  (9)  again, one more player will be out.

At last, there will be  (10)  players and one chair! The one who sits on the chair when the music stops is the winner.

What will our lives be like in the future? Not long ago, people believed that in the future we would work less, have more free time, and be more   (1)  , because robots would do lots of work. But this doesn't   (2)  in every home. Today we work harder, work for longer hours, and are much  (3)   than ten years ago. We work faster; talk faster and   (4)   less than before. And although machines can help us   (5)   time, we have  (6)  free time than our parents and grandparents did. What does this have to do with our. health?

An American writer James Gleick says in a new  (7)   that people in cities are having a  (8)   of "hurry sickness" -- we are always trying to do more things in less time, so our life is more stressful (紧张的). He says that if we don't slow down, we may not  (9)   as long as our parents. The book is very popular and most people agree with him. For most people, being fast doesn't  (10)  being better. Will people have a relaxing life in the future? No one knows.

In the past, man did not have to think about the protection of the environment. There were not many people on earth, and natural resources seemed to be  (1)    .

Today, things are different. The  (2)   has become too crowded. We are  (3)   our natural resources too quickly, and at the same time we are polluting our environment with dangerous chemicals. If we continue like this, humans on earth will   (4)   .

If too many fishes are taken from the sea, there will soon be none left. Yet, with modern methods, more and more  (5)  are caught. We know that if too many trees are cut down, forests will  (6)   and nothing will grow on the land. Yet, we continue to  (7)   more and more trees.

We realize that if rivers are  (8)  , we will die. However, in most countries waste products are still put into rivers or the sea, and there are  (9)  laws to stop this.

we know that if the population of the world continues to rise at the present rate, in a few years, there will not be enough  (10)   . If there is nothing to eat, we will die, too.

What can we do to solve these problems?
