I fell in love with Yosemite National Park the first time I saw it, when I was 13. My parents took us there for camping. On the way out, I asked them to wait while I ran up to E1 Capitan, a  16  rock of 3,300 feet straight up. I touched that giant rock and knew  17 I wanted to climb it. That has been my life’s passion (钟爱) ever since 18 the rocks and mountains of Yosemite. I’ve long made Yosemite my  19 .
About 15 years ago I started seeing a lot of  20 , like toilet paper, beer cans, and empty boxes, around the area. It’s   21  me why visitors started respecting the place 22 and treated such a beautiful home-like place this way.
I tried  23  trash(垃圾)myself, but the job was too big. I would  24  an hour or two on the job, only to find the area trashed all over again weeks later. Finally, I got so  25  it that I decided something had to change.
As a rock-climbing guide, I knew 26  about organizing any big event. But in 2004, together with some climbers, I set a date for a 27 . On that day, more than 300 people  28 . Over three days we collected about 6,000 pounds of trash. It was amazing how much we were able to  29 . I couldn’t believe the  30  we made—the park looked clean!
Each year volunteers come for the cleanup from everywhere. In 2007 alone, 2,945 people  31 42,330 pounds of trash.
I often hear people  32   about their surroundings. If you are one of them, I would say the only way to change things is by     33 rather than complaining. We need to teach by  34   . You can’t blame others  35  you start with yourself.

When we talk about a bad man, we like to call him a “wolf”. But is it really true that the wolf stands for
              devil and ugliness?
Have you read the book “The Wolf Totem” by a famous writer Jiang Rong, which tells the story of the
relationship between wolves and human beings? Have you ever_1_the wolves' world? If you had, you
              would    2   the wolves.
In the book, wolves are heroes on the large grassland. They know more about   3   than humans. They
can attack lambs (羔羊) without disturbing their mothers. They also know how to  4   full use of the shape
of land to  5   sheep. I believe that if wolves were humans, they would be   6   experts good at fighting.
The wolf is a kind of special creature that can deeply understand    7  . Each wolf serves its group with
its heart and soul. A   8   wolf has little power, but a pack of wolves  9   nothing. All the wolves obey the
rules.    10  they are defeated, they run away together. It is their teamwork  11  makes wolves powerful.
The wolves also have great self-respect and won't   12   to anyone. The writer, who wrote the book
“The Wolf Totem”, 13   stole a one-month-old baby wolf and raised it very carefully. To his 14  , he found
the little wolf still wanted to go back with   15   wolves. He bit through the iron chain that limited him. The
wolf was 16   and he never gave in, fighting   17   his death. The little wolf died as a glorious fighter.
I was shocked by this kind of  18   : wolves are one of the most respected creatures on earth. I want
everyone to look at wolves in a   19   way. They are our teachers. They show us how to survive and   20
in this not simple and dangerous world. Please honor the wolves, please honor all these heroes of nature!

During a recent vacation I visited Dusseldorf, a city in the dormer West Germany. The nine-day trip left

Water costs money. In some places water is hard   1  . What   2   when a town has these problems? A
small town in California found a happy answer.
Very   3   rain ever fell there. The town had no water   4  . The water it used was   5   from a river 300
miles away. As more people   6   live in the town, more water was needed. Now water has to be brought in
from 600 miles away. All these cost a lot of money.
The town   7   a plan. It found ways to clean its "dirty" water. Once the cleaned water was reused   8
many ways. Five man-made lakes were built. Here people could swim and fish and go   9  . They could have
picnics in their new parks. Farmers had more water for their crops. New factories can be built, now that they
have the promise of enough water.
In most places, water is used and thrown  10 . The town that saved its water has saved the town!
