Recently I paid a visit to Harvard University, where there are top class scientists and professors and the best academic system in the world.

I was pretty   (1)  when I first stepped onto the campus. Well, itˈs not even really a campus. Itˈs  (2)  like a district in a small town.

Harvardˈs main buildings are from the 18th century, They look very old and   (3)  . You might   (4)  say theyˈre a little shabby. They donˈt fit the modern  (5)   of university at all. The buildings are surrounded by  (6)  and trees, so I felt as if I had walked into a medieval (中世纪的) castle. But when I looked across the street,   (7)  shops and in-fashion students made me feel like I was in the 21st century  (8)   . It creates a strong contrast and brings a special   (9)   to the school.

Our tour  (10)  Gary took us around and told us, "You see this grass field in the center of the school? Here is where they hold their  (11)   ceremony. They just set up tents and benches and have a very simple ceremony.” Itˈs   (12)   ! Who would think the most talented students just graduate on the grass?

I   (13)  some students put a blanket on the grass and lie down to read a book. When I listened to the soft sound of   (14)   turning, along with chirping of the birds, I felt very  (15)  . There was no competitive feeling at all.

Harvard has the worldˈs first computer in its science centre  (16)   there are hundreds of high-end computers, too. Its religion and the literature departments are also  (17)   the best. It is the perfect mix of tradition and   (18)   technology. It makes Harvard a very attractive place to  (19)  in. I hope one day Iˈll   (20)  my dream school -- Harvard.

During the month I spent studying in England last summer, one day stood out. I was only 16 and I had been wandering on the streets of London. The freedom was great,   (1)   for someone who had lived in a small town all her life, the city represented a world of   (2)  .

This was not my first   (3)   to London. A year earlier, I had been there with my mother, trying to   (4)   the major attractions in three days. That trip was wonderful but   (5)  . This time I was grateful to be able to enjoy the atmosphere and   (6)  .

My friend and I discussed where we should go, and then decided to go cycling. This   (7)  us to Covent Garden, home of the giant Doc Marten’s store and trendy cafes. The market area is one of my favorite places in London. It’s a great place to   (8)  : You can find everything from the latest fashions to souvenirs that can   (9)   be found in England. The street   (10)  , from classical musicians to magicians, were out in large numbers. Many tourists   (11)   to watch them. I did not linger (逗留) because I was   (12)   just to feel the activity in the street rather than become a   (13)   of it.

At sunset, we headed to the Thames River. The river itself is   (14)   special to look at; the   (15)   often appears muddy, and no one would like to swim in it.   (16)  , the view makes the visit   (17)  . From there, you can enjoy those famous architectures: the Tower of London, the Houses of Parliament, St. Paul’s Cathedral and the Tate Modern Museum.

As I stood on the bridge appreciating my   (18)  , I realized what an incredibly rich history the city had. Over the next hundred years, the city may change as older buildings will probably   (19)   bigger ones, but certain elements will   (20)  .

When July comes, children know they’ll have their examination and the school year will end soon. Boys and girls will have a nearly two   (1)  holiday, and they’ll leave school   (2)    train or by car to     (3)    to see their fathers and mothers. The summer holidays are the      (4)     time of the year for most children. The weather is usually good, so one can    (5)   most of his time playing outside.    (6)   one lives in the country, he can  (7)     into the woods and in the fields. If one lives in a big town, he can    (8)   go to a park to play.

The best place for a summer holiday is the    (9)    . Some children are   (10)    enough to live near the sea. But for   (11)    who do not, if they have the chance to stay at one of the big seaside towns for a week or two,    (12)   will talk about it all the following school year. Now,    (13)    makes the children like the seaside so much? I think it is the  (14)   , the sea and the sun, not   (15)   else. Of course, there are    (16)    new things to see, nice things to eat, and    (17)   things to do. But the feeling of the sand under their feet of the  (18)   water on their skin, and   (19)   of the warm sun on their backs make   (20)    happier.

The world-famous phone manufacturer RIM, making the BlackBerry, announces its return. The company is   (1)  to reclaim a market it once occupied by   (2)   two new devices. The last few years have been a painful time for the company as customers deserted its platform in   (3)   of newer and more   (4)  devices. This may be the company’s last chance to   (5)  a vital player in an increasingly crowded marketplace.

Two brand new devices are perhaps a fresh   (6)  for a company that has seen  its  global market share   (7)  from 20 percent three years ago to just over 3 percent today.

For BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins, it’s another chance to remake a faded   (8)  . “We have   (9)  been on a journey of transformation, not only a journey to transform our business and our brand,   (10)  one that I truly   (11)  transforms mobile communications into true mobile computing,” he said.

The company promises the same   (12)  level of network security the BlackBerry is known for,   (13)  a fast new browser and a more intuitive operating system. The Z10   (14)  much like the touch-screen phones popularized by its competitors, but the Q10 maintains the “qwerty” keyboard that has become BlackBerry’s trademark.

Besides the technical and surface updates, Heins says the company will no longer be called RIM or Research In Motion.

“Our customers use a BlackBerry, our   (15)  work for BlackBerry and our shareholders are owners of BlackBerry. From today on, we are BlackBerry   (16)  in the world,” he said.

Shareholders will be watching if customers   (17)  the new devices. The company’s stock(股票) has dropped as much as 90 percent in the last four years as it lost   (18)  to competitors. But company shares have doubled in the last four months as investors’ expectation   (19)  for the new models.

Analysts say the new devices could make or   (20)  a company, which many people praise for starting the technological revolution in smart-phones.

              ★★☆☆☆

Recently, my family and I visited Kaikoura, a coastal town in New Zealand. The first evening it seemed a   (1)   place, but the next day I remembered what Iˈd   (2)   about it in a magazine — that it was often   (3)   to see dolphins (海豚) and whales there!

My family and I   (4)   on a gray, windy morning on a small boat.   (5)   , the sky turned blue ten minutes later. Soon we   (6)   the place where we were supposed to go swimming. To my   (7)   , this was more than 40 km from land. I was quite   (8)   by this time, and wondered why we came all the way out there, when   (9)   someone shouted “Dolphins!”

All I could   (10)   were fins (鱼鳍) everywhere — there were about one hundred dolphins, all   (11)   towards our boat! Many of them were jumping around in the water   (12)   they were asking us to come and play. I   (13)   my snorkel (潜水通气管) and jumped into the sea. Then I tried to make   (14)   in the water to attract them. What made me   (15)   was that they heard me and came to swim around me. Amazingly, a dolphin kept following me, but then changed his   (16)   and swam in another direction. It really made me realize how   (17)   these animals are.

About an hour later, it was time for us to get back onto the   (18)   . I really enjoyed myself, but I was a little cold and   (19)   to leave the water. I noticed that everyone on board was smiling and I realized what a very   (20)   moment weˈd had.

The trip to that city was eye-opening for everyone, and near its end, all the young people in our group began to reflect on what it had meant. We ____  (1)  ____ the first night we had arrived. We had all gone into the markets of the city ____  (2)  ____ the young people could experience its energy. But what we actually saw simply ____  (3)  ____ us all- the run-down houses, the children in rags, the people begging for money ... Walking home, ____  (4)  ____ under a low bridge, we came across ____  (5)  ____ families of homeless people seeking a bit of dry ground to sleep on ____  (6)  ____ the night.                  That evening, our group spent hours talking about what we had ____  (10)  ____. Gently, I encouraged everyone to talk about the difficult ____  (11)  ____ that day's discoveries had inspired. Sitting together ____  (12)  ____ a circle as everyone had a chance to speak, we all began to realize that ____  (13)  ____ of us was alone in our struggle to cope with our reactions.

Based on my ____  (14)  ____ in poverty-stricken areas, I suggested that ____  (15)  ____ the emotions we had were painful, they could also be important in helping us to move forward. We all ____  (16)  ____ that we had seen things that should never be allowed to happen. ____  (17)  ____, what could we do about it? Together, we began to brainstorm ways we could help to ease the ____  (18)  ____ we had seen. As I encouraged group members to focus on ____  (19)  ____ they could do, a sense of determination ____  (20)  ____ the previous sadness.
