              About Social Work
If helping people out is your thing, then social work is the field for you.Of course, just being polite and holding the door open for others won't be classified as professional work.Social work involves giving back to society a little bit of what you feel you owe to it.
It is often divided into two different branches. You can either help society physically of financially. Some people who do not have money to give back contribute with their time and energy. There are several cases where we see that people go for teaching poor children and conducting drives on social awareness. Many others, with more money but less time, prefer financing social work bodies by handing out large sums of money as donations to help them run.
An attitude of service is important as the point of social work is to help people grow.It is all about serving people who are financially difficult and need your support to be able to work on the same basis with the rest of the world.
The people that social workers are serving are clearly for one reason or the other, disadvantaged.By helping out,the basic idea is to reduce this difference between them and the rest of the world. So the person who has taken on the task needs to keep in mind that ensuring equality is an important part of their work.It needs to be done with the goal of making sure that at the end of it,every person has an equal chance.
Integrity(正直)is one of the central values because it is integrity itself that reflects the true spirit of social work.Integrity is a feeling which is borne out of moral correctness and the need to keep to one's value systems. When integrity is made a part of the central values, only then can the social work be considered a success.
Gone are the days when this was left to those with little time and few skills which a great success can be made out of in the job market.Social service today requires a great deal of ability, hard work and a drive to do things better, much as is the case with any teamwork. An unskillful person most certainly cannot go,nor is any less than the best performance demanded by those who are in it.
The field of social work is a job that needs much skill nowadays and it requires nothing but the best performers. But all through, one should remember the central value of the existence of social work, which is to help the poor so that they too may become able world citizens.

Do you always experience tired eyes at an even more frequent rate? What if your eyes are in such a kind of condition? There is no need to worry about it because it is so common nowadays. On the contrary, you should find the factors and then seek some appropriate treatments for them.
Some folks don't wish to waste even a second at work, even to blink (眨眼)for a fraction of a second.Staring constantly at the screen can cause stress to one's eyes.Sitting and staring at the television screen for hours can also make the eyes tired.
Bookworms love reading and they will make sure they read much more than their bodies can deal with. The desire to finish a book may result in fast reading, without taking breaks, which can lead to tired eyes.Continuous reading in dim light can also cause pressure to the eyes.
Decreased water intake and overindulgence (过度放纵)in salt-based junk food items like burgers, pizzas, etc.also play a role in causing tired eyes. These junk food items do not furnish the body with the required essential nutrients, thus causing a lack of vitamins, which also has an effect on tired eyes.
Stress at the workplace or at home and a noisy sleeping environment cannot bring enough sleep at night.Lack of sleep causes the eyes to become heavy.Dark circles are also seen to develop if one doesn't get sufficient sleep over a period of time.
Even though this condition is not fatal,it is stressful for the health of the body, and must be treated. If not treated on time, the condition can become worse and result in double or blurred vision. Here are some ways to treat the tired eye condition.
Every hour during your day at work, spend a minute relaxing your eyes.Look away from your computer screen and roll your eyes in both directions.Try and blink more often.Look around the room or close your eyes for a minute if you want and then work again.Following this every hour will help reduce overall stress on your eyes, and you won't feel so tired after work.
Caffeine present in the tea helps relieve tired eyes.Make a cup of hot black tea and pour it into a glass.Hold the glass close to your eyes,so that the vapors from the tea reach your eyes. This may be troublesome,so instead you can also use tea bags to relieve your eyes.Dip two black tea bags in a cup of hot water and once the warmth is bearable place the warm tea bags onto your eyes. This will also make you feel fresh.
If your eyes feel extremely tired at work,go to the washroom and wash your face with cool tap water. The cold water will help relieve the tired feeling.Do this every hour during work and you will find relief.

              Learning About Different Cultures
Most of us live in a multicultural surroundings these days.Culture can bring us together, but it can also be a cause of division. How does our own culture affect the way we view others? What steps can we take to minimize problems?
Once my friend, who is of Greek origin, went to Sweden on business. He was sent by the head office in the US to introduce a new computer program to their branch office in Sweden. This newly created software would cut production cost in half and speed up the time from planning to production by 30percent,as well as make the finished product look better. After presenting this program to the managers and directors,he waited for their feedback. At first it was quiet. Then, the general manager said,"Hmm,this looks good."in a flat voice."Hmm,I agree,"said another. My friend was in shock.Later on,when he told this to me,he said,"My mother used expressions such as‘Fabulous!'and‘Marvelous!'.These people were presented with a multibillion-dollar program, and all they could say was"Hmm.Good.I don't understand it!"
What was the problem?Culture. What is an acceptable way of expressing excitement and joy in one country is not the same in another. The Swedes were thrilled, and they thought it was a fantastic computer program. They just had a different way of showing it.
Another example:I remember my mother always telling me to look at her when she was talking to me,especially if it was something important. It was a way of showing that I was paying attention in a respectful way. Now,my friend from Nigeria told me that she never allows her children to look at her when she is talking."I want them to respect me,"she says.Who is right? Both. That's the beauty of culture. There is no such thing as right or wrong, good or bad culture.
Of course, one has to take into consideration people living nearby. It is true that a person has to adjust to the country where he chooses to live.On the other hand, when people move into our country,we can make an effort to get to know their culture.Ask them about their country; ask them why they do certain things or wear different clothes. It can be quite interesting, actually. This doesn't mean we have to like it,or live our lives in their way.But knowledge can definitely lead to fewer disagreements and more understanding between people.
When culture is understood and used in an appropriate way,it can give a person a feeling of belonging and security. You know what to do in different situations. For example:at the time of birth and death.Let's give place to culture.Try to know and understand other people's culture, and also try to analyze our own.Let's choose our own way of life.Above all else---let's live in peace with all men!
