            • 1. Given that many people's moods (情绪) are regulated by the chemical action of chocolate,it was probably only a matter of time before somebody made the chocolate shop similar to a drugstore of Chinese medicine.Looking like a setting from the film Charlie & the Chocolate Factory,Singapore's Chocolate Research Facility (CRF) has over 100 varieties of chocolates. Its founder is Chris Lee who grew up at his parents'comer store with one hand almost always in the jar of sweets.
If the CRF seems to be a smart idea, that's because Lee is not merely a seasoned salesperson but also head of a marketing department that has business relations with big names such as Levi's and Sony. That idea surely results in the imagination at work when it comes to making different flavored (味道) chocolates.
The CRF's produce is"green",made within the country and divided into 10lines,with the Alcohol Series being the most popular. The Exotic Series-with Sichuan pepper, red bean (豆).cheese and other flavors-also does well and is fun to taste. And for chocolate snobs, who think that they have a better knowledge of chocol ate than others, the Connoisseur Series uses cocoa beans from Togo,Cuba,Venezuela, and Ghana, among others.

            • 4. Master painter Zhang Daqian (1899-1983)was well known for having a large number of friends and students.Among them, painter Li Qiujun was special.
They got to know each other through Li's elder brother, who was one of Zhang's best friends.
They admired each other's artistic talent and became confidants, which resulted in a romantic relationship.
In 1948,Zhang produced Spring Clouds Amid Autumn Landscape,a mountain-and-water ink painting featuring gongbi (meticulous brushwork),as a gift for Li's 50th birthday.
A year later,Zhang permanently departed from the mainland, and traveled and exhibited around the world before settling down in Taipei in 1976.
After leaving the mainland,he often said that he missed Li,who died in Shanghai in 1973.
Spring Clouds Amid Autumn Landscape will be auctioned in Hong Kong on Oct 4.
The painting not only marks a friendship between the two painters, but it deserves special attention because it shows Zhang at the top of his game as he sought to master the mountain-and-water style, according to C.K.Cheung,head of Sotheby's Chinese painting department.
Sotheby's will auction the work at its major autumn sale, which runs from Oct 1to 5.
Cheung says the painting's composition and Zhang's attention to details reflect his incorporation of traditional touches, especially from Song Dynasty (960-1279)paintings,while also developing his own style.

            • 5. Halloween is perhaps the third most popular holiday for parties, coming after New Year's and Christmas. With Halloween,we have the opportunity to dress up for the night and"be someone else".
              Team Maker
If you are going to have games, you may require teams. One way to put together the teams randomly, thus encouraging guests who don't already know each other,is to have them draw pieces from a cauldron(大锅)or witch's hat.Beforehand, write enough words on pieces of paper to have one for every guest. On the pieces of paper write words like:Egyptian tomb, pyramid, magic wand, magic spell, black cat, etc.Everyone draws a piece of paper.
              Dress Up the Dead
This game is not for the shy and may result in some small rude performance. For the game, you will need a put-together skeleton. They can be found in the Halloween section of many stores. The skeleton can be of wood or plastic,so long as it can be taken apart easily and can be recombined together. The host"buries"the broken up skeleton under a pile of sawdust, loose dirt or hay in the yard. The first team, while being timed, must discover all the skeleton pieces then run to where there's a hook for hanging the skeleton. They must recombine the skeleton and then, donating parts of their own clothing, dress the skeleton in a shirt and pants.
              Murder Mystery
Host a murder mystery as a play.Select players, either by volunteers or by random drawing or even have guests vote. While the players read over their parts, the rest of the guests arrange the room.Set up a row of chairs facing the party audience. This will be the"stage"where the murder mystery players will sit and perform their roles. The host keeps the game (play) moving, usually by playing one of the detective characters.

                The Polar Express

One couldn’t select a more delightful and exciting premise (前提) for a children’s book than the tale of a young boy lying awake on Christmas Eve only to have Santa Claus sweep by and take him on a trip with other children to the North Pole. And one couldn’t ask for a more talented artist and writer to tell the story than Chris Van Allsburg.

              Sit-and-listen Game

Games are a good form of teaching or training children as they combine fun with knowledge. They make the teaching or training activities more interesting. They are useful in all fields of teaching and training.

Help your child discover just how much more is going on in the world around them with this listening game. It will also provide a few minutes of peace and quiet in what is probably a very noisy and busy day. A discussion of the sounds you each hear will also assist in language development and an ability to articulate that which was heard. The sit-and-listen game is especially helpful if your child is at the stage of developing language skills: listening, speaking and so on.

Method: This is a very relaxing activity in which you both need to sit still and silent for about 30 seconds and just listen to the world around you. You are both trying to hear as many different things as you can, whether they are cars, people, airplanes, water running, the wind in the trees or any other kinds of daily sounds.

After the given time is up, have a chat about what you both could hear. It is a good idea to ask your little ones some open ended questions to promote their language development, such as:

“What were the loudest sounds you heard?”

“What were the closest sounds you heard?”

“How many cars did you hear?”

“How far away do you think that barking dog might live?”

“What sounds did you hear which you did not expect to hear?”

Note: As an extension activity, your child may draw a picture of all the things heard.
