Pretty much anyone can book a trip, but not everyone can plan an ultimate adventure that’s affordable, accommodating, and fun for everyone in your group. At Tripslnsider.com, we aim to provide you with the best insider secrets in the travel business and a state-of-the-art travel comparison tool to make planning easier than ever.

Here are some insider tips that we’d like to share with you.

              Join an Airline Loyalty Program

Even if you don’t think you travel often enough to make an airline loyalty program worth it, join one. This is your best chance of getting a flight upgrade (升级), even if you stay at a low point level.

Get the Weekly Car Rental Rate

It’s a bit puzzling that car rental companies charge more for driving less, but the weekly rate is often cheaper than driving just four days. You may be able to get the weekly rate for just five days, so keep the car a bit longer if you can.

Ask the Crew about Free Souvenirs (纪念品)

Lots of free stuff is lying around cruise ships, such as T-shirts, crossword puzzles, and postcards. Make friends with the crew members and nicely ask what kind of freebies may be available for souvenirs. Just don’t forget to tip!

              Ask for a Corner Room

When you check in at a hotel, ask if there’s a comer room available. These are usually larger and quieter for the same price as ones in the middle of the hall. Upgrades are most often offered at the end of the day when hotels have a better sense of their occupancy.

We hope that you found the tips on this page helpful and can put them to use on your next vacation. Whether you plan to fly, drive, or cruise, become an expert trip planner by using our travel comparison tool for all your transportation and hotel needs. D. Make friends with crew members and you can take away all the souvenirs aboard.

              (2) Why is it more likely to be upgraded in a hotel at the end of the day?

              B. Because there are more rooms available.

              C. Because hotels make it a rule to offer upgrades at that time.

Recently I paid a visit to Harvard University, where there are top class scientists and professors and the best academic system in the world.

I was pretty   (1)  when I first stepped onto the campus. Well, itˈs not even really a campus. Itˈs  (2)  like a district in a small town.

Harvardˈs main buildings are from the 18th century, They look very old and   (3)  . You might   (4)  say theyˈre a little shabby. They donˈt fit the modern  (5)   of university at all. The buildings are surrounded by  (6)  and trees, so I felt as if I had walked into a medieval (中世纪的) castle. But when I looked across the street,   (7)  shops and in-fashion students made me feel like I was in the 21st century  (8)   . It creates a strong contrast and brings a special   (9)   to the school.

Our tour  (10)  Gary took us around and told us, "You see this grass field in the center of the school? Here is where they hold their  (11)   ceremony. They just set up tents and benches and have a very simple ceremony.” Itˈs   (12)   ! Who would think the most talented students just graduate on the grass?

I   (13)  some students put a blanket on the grass and lie down to read a book. When I listened to the soft sound of   (14)   turning, along with chirping of the birds, I felt very  (15)  . There was no competitive feeling at all.

Harvard has the worldˈs first computer in its science centre  (16)   there are hundreds of high-end computers, too. Its religion and the literature departments are also  (17)   the best. It is the perfect mix of tradition and   (18)   technology. It makes Harvard a very attractive place to  (19)  in. I hope one day Iˈll   (20)  my dream school -- Harvard.

The city of Florence eats, sleeps and breathes art. Examples of man's artistic genius (天赋) stand on nearly every street. Dozens of museums and art shops wait to be explored.

During the Renaissance, Florence was a paradise (天堂) for artists themselves. Before this time, art focused completely on religious subjects. Renaissance art began to include more variety. Artists painted pictures of ordinary people. They painted scenes from history and characters from Greek and Roman myths (神话).

Michelangelo was the greatest of Florence's artists. Visitors line up for hours at the Academia museum for a look at his impressive David. This 14-foot-high statue has become the ideal human figure of the Renaissance. David is an example of Michelangelo's talent for sculpting people simply, yet powerfully.

More of Michelangelo's works can be seen in the great Palazzo Vecchio. Paintings and carvings of famous Italian artists fill the palace rooms.

A short walk through the narrow streets of Florence brings visitors to the famous Uffizi Gallery. It has an outstanding art collection. Visitors should be sure to wear comfortable shoes, as exploring the gallery takes many hours. Some of the most famous works in the collection include Botticelli's Primaveraand The Birth of Venus.

Even visitors tired of art won't want to miss the Pitti Palace. Once home to Florence's powerful Medici family, the large palace now houses three museums. Filled with priceless art, the countless rooms glitter (闪光) with gold decorations. For a breath of fresh air, wander among the statues and fountains of the palace gardens.

To get a feel of modern Florence, join the evening walk. This traditional feature of Italian life begins around 6 p.m. People walk down the streets of central Florence to do last-minute shopping or just chat with friends. Be sure to walk past Perch Noi, home of the oldest and best ice cream in the city.

Florence has given the world many great art treasures. Some stand in gardens and squares. Others line the walls of beautiful palaces. Still others are the palaces themselves. For art lovers, Florence is indeed paradise.

If you have flexibility as to when and where to travel then you can think of traveling “off-season.’’ Off-season travel simply refers to travel at times other than the most popular time of the year to visit places. If you’re not sure whether the off-season is fit for you, keep the following in mind.

Good reasons to go in the off-season:

It is less expensive. The two biggest expenses—transportation and accommodation—are cheaper in the off-season.

It is less crowded. Avoiding the busy time of the travel season also means that you aren’t rubbing elbows with strangers at every turn.

It becomes your destination. Your vacation is decided by you —not by long lines and overcrowded activities. When no on else is eating in the local café, it is possible to spend time chatting with the owner because his/her focus is on you.

Bad reasons to go in the off-season:

Your options are limited. In some destinations, especially if there is a very distinct tourist season, you may find that tours or activities have been cut back in the off-season, and some destinations practically shut down, with no shops or entertainment at all.

The weather may not be ideal. Sometimes the off-season is that way because it is an unappealing time to travel, and the weather can be a determining factor in whether you really would like to test a destination outside its prime time.

You go just because it is the off-season. If you are going to a destination just because it is less expensive, then don’t go. Time and money are precious. Spend them knocking off places at the top of your list, even if you can only go at the same time of year as everyone else.

              (1) For which kind of people is off-season travel most suited?

              A. Businessmen.
              B. Retired people.
              C. Officers.
              D. Students.

              (2) If you want to_______, you shouldn’t travel off-season.

              A. have more choices
              B. avoid the crowds
              C. save money
              D. find a good, cheap hotel

              (3) Which of the following is an advantage of traveling off-season?

              A. Your choice is wider.
              B. You are more likely to enjoy good weather.
              C. You can get more attention from the local people.
              D. You can spend a lot of money in shopping.

              (4) Where can you most probably find this text?

              A. In a travel magazine.
              B. In a health magazine.
              C. In a fashion magazine.
              D. In a science magazine.
