              Personalized Exercise

As the start of every year, many of us promise ourselves that a certain number of times a week we will go to the gym or attend an exercise class. But finally many of us just struggle to fit exercise into our lives, or start off well and then give up. Why do we have a good plan at the beginning and fail to achieve it in the end? How can we deal with the problem?   (1)

It is important to determine your motivation first. Are you mainly interested in de-stressing or in getting fitter? If your goal is relaxation, then ask yourself if you want to do it energetically.   (2)   If you have a calmer style, you can do something quite different. You could choose solitary exercise, such as walking the dog or doing some gardening.   (3)   There are quite a lot of them, such as walking group, running groups, dance classes, etc. On your own, you could go horse riding or swimming, or just download fitness exercise programs and do it at home.

                (4)   If you have free time at the weekend, you could book some time with a personal trainer, who can come to your house, or you could meet him at the gym. If your life is not as regular, you could choose the next couple of minutes you have to try an exercise DVD, or put your running shoes on and run for any length of time.

As you see, everything counts when you are doing exercise. Whatever your lifestyle is, you will be able to have something that suits you.   (5)   Just sit down with a cup of tea, read this article again, and have a think about your options. Then finish the tea, get up, get going, and don’t stop.

What is your favourite colour? Do you like yellow, orange, red?  (1)  . Do you prefer greys and blues? Then you are probably quiet, shy, and you would rather follow than lead. You tend to be pessimist. At least, this is what psychologists tell us, and they should know this, because they have been seriously studying the meaning of colour preference, as well as the effect that colours have on human beings.  (2)  . If you happen to love brown, you did so, as soon as you opened your eyes, or at least as soon as you could see clearly.  (3)  . A yellow room makes most people feel more cheerful and more relaxed than a dark green one; and a red dress brings warmth and cheer to the saddest winter day.   (4)  . A black bridge over the Thames River, near London, used to be the scene of more suicides(自杀) than any other bridge in the area---until it was repainted green. The number of suicide attempts immediately fell sharply. Perhaps it would have fallen even more if the bridge had been done in pink or baby blue.

                (5)  . It is an established fact that factory workers work better, harder, and have fewer accidents when their machines are painted orange rather than black or grey.

              (1) A. On the other hand, black is depressing.
              B. They tell us,among other facts, that we do not choose our favourite colour as grow up --- we are born with our preference.
              C. The rooms are painted in different colours as you like.
              D. Ifyou do,you must be an optimist, a leader or an active person who enjoys life, people and excitement.
              E. Light and bright colours make people not only happier but more active.
              F. Life is like a picture or a poem, full of different colours.
              G. Colours doinfluence our moods---there is no doubt about it

There was once a lonely girl who longed so much for love. One day while she was walking in the woods she found two starving birds   (1)  . She cared them with love and the birds grew strong. Every morning they greeted her with a wonderful song. The girl felt the great love from the birds.

                (2)    . The larger and the stronger of the two birds flew from the cage. The girl was so frightened that he would fly away. As he flew close, she grasped him wildly. Her heart felt glad at her success in capturing him. (3) . She opened her hand and stared in horror at the dead bird. Her desperate love had killed him.

I don’t believe that there is any secret to success.  (1)  . The more factors you have, the more likely you are to succeed, and positive attitude is just one of those factors. Here are seven additional factors that are also important.

              Knowledge

A good knowledge about the area in which you wish to succeed is often one of the key building blocks of success.

              Natural talent

                (2)  . Find this out for yourself by trying a lot of different activities and seeing what comes easy to you.

              Clear goals and plan

Much like a trip, it’s a lot easier to get where you want to go if you know where you’re going and spend time planning the route you’ll take to get there.   (3)  , and then decide some of the things that need to be done to help you move towards it.

              Passion

                (4)  . Similar to your natural talent, the way to find your passion is to have a try in a lot of different areas and see what excites you most.

              Focus / continuous effort

Hard work is another key to achieving success.  (5)  . If you want to succeed in a certain area, work hard in that area and go beyond what others are doing.

              (1) A. Think about what your definition(定义) of success exactly is

              B.  Some people are born with an ability to succeed in a certain area

              C.  You can build this by pushing yourself

              D. The things you do with great efforts are not likely near your natural talent

              E. Instead, I believe success is the result of a combination of a lot of different factors

              F.  You will not become a champion without practising every day

              G.  A strong desire to dig deep into a particular area is often a sign that you’ll find success there.

Losing weight is tough. For most people, it requires a change in diet, a change in exercise habits, and a change in attitude.  (1)

              l Set healthy goals.

If you’re overweight and want to change that, the first step is deciding what your target weight is.  (2)

              l Start small.

Making major behavior modifications(行为矫正)isn’t something that happens overnight.  (3)  Commit to eating 5 servings of vegetables a day and exercising 2 days a week for the first week, then add a little more each week.

l Track your diet and exercise.

Now it’s time to start working toward that goal. The best way to stick with your diet and exercise rules is to track it.   (4)  Or you can do it the old fashioned way and keep a written food and exercise journal. Find what works for you and write down what you’ve accomplished every day.

                (5)

Every month you should take a look at your goal and see what type of progress you’ve made toward accomplishing it. If you’re not where you want to be, make minor adjustments. Try doing different exercises or cutting back on certain types of foods that you may be eating too much of.

Losing weight and keeping it off is a highly personal thing. Find what works for you and stick with it.

              (1) A. Evaluate and adjust.
              B. Here’s how you can accomplish all the three.
              C. You might as well start with your own attitude.
              D. There are plenty of Apps that allow you to do this.
              E. What steps are you going to take to achieve your goal.

Whether you want to improve your writing skills as a creative writer or simply perfect your skills for schoolwork, you can take some steps to learn how to be a better writer.
1,Use active instead of passive voice.
In English, the most basic sentence structure is S-V-O:Subject-Verb-Object.The passive voice usually requires more words and use of a"to be"verb form, which can suck the energy out of your writing.Learn to avoid these constructions as much as you can.  ___(1)___ It conventionally uses the passive voice to put the emphasis on the results, rather than the researchers.
              2,  ___(2)___
Finding the right verb or adjective can turn an uninspired sentence into one people will remember and quote for years to come.Look for words that are as specific as possible.Strong doesnˈt mean obscure,or more complicated.Donˈt say"utilize"when you could say"use."  ___(3)___
              3,Cut the chaff.
___(4)___  You donˈt get points for saying in 50words what could be said in 20,or for using multi-syllable words when a short one does just as well.It might feel good at first to pack a lot of ideas and details into a single sentence, but chances are that sentence is just going to be hard to read.If a phrase doesnˈt add anything valuable, just cut it.  ___(5)___  If you notice that your writing is filled with"-ly"words,it might be time to take a deep breath and give your writing more focus.
              (1) A. Use strong words.
              B. Show,donˈt tell.
              C. Good writing is simple, clear and direct.
