We arc now looking for volunteers to support people with learning disabilities to live active lives! Only 4 days left. Donˈt miss the chance of lending your warm hands to help others! 

Role:

You will provide people with learning disabilities with all aspects of their daily lives. You will help them to develop new skills. You will help them to protect their rights and their safety. But your primary concern is to let them know they are valued. 

Skills and Experience Required:

You will have the right values and great listening skills. You will be honest and patient. You will have the ability to drive a car and to communicate in fluent written and spoken English since youˈll have to help those people with different learning disabilities. Previous care-related experience will be a great advantage for you.

Ensure passport is valid．

Passports are required for travel to the U．S．and must be valid for the entirety of the travelerˈs stay．

Complete the application for a tourist visa，Form DS160．

This is an online form available through the U．S．Department of State．

Print the DS160confirmation page．

After successfully completing the application，the applicant will receive a confirmation with a 10digit barcode．Take a printout of this page．This page is required to schedule a visa interview．

Upload a digital photograph．

The DS160application requires the applicant to upload a digital photograph that meets the following requirements：

The digital photograph must be a square

Minimum dimensions must be 600pixels by 600pixels

Maximum dimensions must be 1200pixels by 1200pixels

Image must be in color

Image must be in the JPEG format

File size of the image must be less than or equal to 240kilobytes

Pay the application fee for the B2tourist visa．

The fee can be paid electronically as a bank transfer or in cash at designated（指定的）bank branches．

Make an appointment for the visa interview．

After paying the application fee，the applicant will have to schedule two appointments as part of the tourist visa process：

The first appointment is at the Offsite Facilitation Center（OFC）to provide biometrics information，which includes fingerprinting and photograph．

The second appointment is with the consulate or embassy for a personal visa interview．

Complete the visa fingerprinting at an OFC．

This appointment should be scheduled at least a day or two before the interview at the consulate．As part of this appointment，the applicantˈs digital photograph and fingerprints will be taken．

Attend the visa interview at the designated U．S．consulate or embassy on the day and time the appointment．

Receive a B2visa and travel to the U．S．

Rappelling（登山运动中的绕绳下降）in North Carolina

Do I need to have any experience to take this course？

    Introduction to rappelling is a course designed for complete beginners．We call this course，“All the fun without any work”．You spend the day learning to rappel off different cliffs and by the end of the course，you should look like a superhero．

How long is the course？

    It is a one-day course．The course runs from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. You should be back in the parking area at 4:15 p.m.

What is the age restriction for this course？

    The course is open to adults and children．Children who are under 12 must be accompanied by a participating adult．

What if I don't have a strong upper body？

    Rappelling does not require any upper body strength．The equipment holds you so the challenge is more mental than physical．

Can I get a copy of the photos the instructor takes？

    The photos taken by the instructors are for use in the brochure or website．Due to the high number of requests we are not able to email them to each learner．

Is it customary to tip my instructor？

    Tipping is not required．If you feel that you have received exceptional（特殊的）service and would like to gift the instructors with a tip，they will appreciate your generosity．

This week, Dr. Alan Duckworth will tell you how these people reduce their blood pressure to a level similar to what’s achieved with Hypertension(高血压) drugs.

Dear students,

    Most of us get some exercise walking or riding our bikes to school, but that just is not enough. Why not get into shape by playing the most popular sport in the world — soccer?

    Two weeks ago, Mr. Goldstein, the physical education teacher, posted a notice about an exciting new soccer club (for Grades 10-12). To join, all you have to do is sign your name and be at school for the fun of it on Saturday mornings. You’ll make new friends and share information about famous teams and players

    Mr. Goldstein will teach, so you’ll learn basic skills and new techniques to improve your game. That’s good news because soccer is a game you can love three seasons a year. The only time you can’t play is when there is snow.

    However, it is hard to believe that only nineteen people signed up for the new club. Maybe kids don’t want to give up their Saturday mornings. But if you think about how we spend Saturday mornings now, soccer looks good. Doing housework and watching TV are not as much fun as playing soccer with friends. If you didn’t sign up because you’ve never played soccer before, don’t worry. Beginners are welcome and Mr. Goldstein will give you more help.
