            • 1. A boy who was nervous on his first day of school climbed onto a third-floor balcony (阳台) and put legs over the side. His mother and teachers tried their best to bring him down, but failed. However, a firefighter (消防员) who dressed as "Spiderman(蜘蛛侠)" succeeded in saving him.
Firefighter David Smith was called in after the 6-year-old’s teachers and mother had failed to get him down from the balcony. "He was asking for his mother, "Smith said. "He was crying, and wouldn’t let any of us get near him." After hearing a conversation between the boy’s mother and his teachers about his love of superheroes (超级英雄), Smith hurried home to get his Spiderman clothes.
"I told him 'Spiderman is here to save you. No one will hurt you now,’" Smith said. "Then I told him to walk slowly toward me. I was really nervous that he might fall if he got too excited and started running." Then the crying boy broke into a smile and walked into the fireman’s arms.
The fictional (虚构的) superhero was created by writer Stan Lee in the early 1960s. It has recently become popular again through a series of movies made about him. In them he is acted by superstar Tobey Maguire, who acted with Kirsten Dunst and James Franco.

Student debts, job worries, limited income… life immediately after college hardly seems a good time to start a trip abroad. However, for some British graduates, living and working in another country for a short period offers the opportunity to learn a language, experience another way of life and add one’s life experiences.

“The huge number of new friends you make when you move to a new place keeps life exciting and wonderful,” says 23-year-old Oxford gradate Mellisa Wright, who has spent three months in Italy and Peru. Wright, who majored in Italian, has used her overseas trips to improve her language skills.

After finishing at the University of Birmingham in the UK, Taylor- a History of Art and Drama graduate- completed a TEFL(Teaching English as a Foreign Language) course and went to work in Thailand. “I hadn’t really considered teaching, but I knew it would be good to experience life in a new culture and to learn more about myself and what I want from my life,” Taylor said.

According to Gordon Mathie, managing director of TEFL course provider, his organization registered a 22 percent increase in the number of students looking to work abroad because teaching English to a class or offering one-to-one language lessons is a common way to make a living for a British graduate living abroad.

“ The idea of getting a stable and permanent job in the UK is a nightmare to me. I would rather be zooming around Europe trying out different jobs and living a more flexible, unpredictable lifestyle,” according to Wright.
