              Public Speaking Training

              Ÿ Get a coach

36 ______________, so get help. Since there are about a billion companies out there all ready to offer you public speaking training and courses, here are some things to look for when deciding the training thatˈs right for you.

              Ÿ Focus on positives

Any training you do to become more effective at public speaking should always focus on the positive aspects of what you already do well. Nothing can hurt confidence more than being told that you arenˈt doing well. 37 ______________, so good public speaking training should develop those instead of telling you what you shouldnˈt do.

              Ÿ 38 ______________

If you find a public speaking course that looks as though itˈs going to give you lots of dos and donˈts, walk away! Your brain is so full of what youˈre going to be talking about.

39 ______________. As far as weˈre concerned, there are basically no hard and fast rules about public speaking. Your audience can be your friends.

Ÿ You are a special person not a clone

Most importantly, good public speaking training should treat you as a special one, with your own personal habits. 40 ______________. Your training course should help you bring out your personality, not try to turn you into someone youˈre not.

              A. You arenˈt like anybody else

              B. You already do lots of things well

              C. Turn your back on too many rules

              D. Check the rules about dos and donˈts

              E. Whatever the presentation, public speaking is tough

F .The one thing you donˈt want is for them to fall asleep

              G. So trying to force a whole set of rules into it will just make things worse

Four Habits to Help You Succeed
We all want to succeed, whether it’s in losing weight or learning the guitar. For those who have tried and failed, success seems difficult to understand. Why does one person succeed where another person fails?   (1)
                  Identify your core values.
Finding your core values is in line with creating inner motivation.    (2)  Pick a handful of things and actually write them down. Remind yourself of your values every day, and reflect on whether you are honoring those values through your work.
Pick a goal and focus on it.
Choose one goal to start something large enough that will give you a sense of accomplishment, while adjusting well to your core values. Focus is key here.   (3)  If you perform many tasks at a time, you might never complete your projects because they will take far too long.
                  Set a deadline for success.
Set a date for success. Identify when you hope to achieve your goal.    (4)  By setting a time limit, you are making the process more real.
                     (5)
Failure can’t be avoided when you take risks, by its very definition, the desire to succeed means you are risking failure. Many people tend to give up far too early. Don’t fall into this trap! Remember your mindset earlier. Know it will happen. A failure is merely you working out the details, and learning what works and what doesn’t. Use failure. Treat it as a good thing, and march on!

              Healthy Snacks for College Student

A busy schedule and a tight budget don’t mean you have to survive on junk food while in college.    36    You can bring them easily with you as you rush between classes. Focus your snack choices on simple ingredients that take only minutes to prepare.    37

              Sandwiches

Make a sandwich when you need something to eat. Use whole grain bread.   38    Slices of meat and low-fat cheese are also healthy choices. Include vegetables for both the nutrient and fiber. Lettuce, tomatoes and green peppers are just a few options.

              Fruits and Vegetables

Slice vegetables ahead of time and keep them in small plastic bags.    39    Celery, carrots and broccoli taste good. Include a small container of hummus(鹰嘴豆泥)in the bags if you don’t like to eat your vegetables plain. Both whole and sliced fruits are a healthy snack when you need something sweeter.

              Warm Snacks

A warm snack is a welcome addition to a late-night study session. Warm a pita(口袋饼)round in the microwave for 20 to 30 seconds. Add any other vegetables that you like to the pita. Baked potatoes are another cheap and healthy option for snacking. For a sweeter snack, cut an apple in half and remove the core and seeds. Top with one teaspoon of brown sugar.    40    Let the apple cool for an additional five minutes before eating it.

              A. If you want to pack apple slices, use a teaspoon of lemon juice.

              B. Top the pita with cream cheese and tomato slices.

              C. Fill the sandwich with peanut butter.

              D. Warm it in the microwave for five minutes.

              E. Thus snack preparation doesn’t cut into the time you need for study.

              F. Many healthy snacks are low-cost and what’s more, they’re portable(便携的)

              G. This ensure that you can grab them quickly when hunger strikes.

If you are already making the time to exercise, it is good indeed! With such busy lives, it can be hard to try and find the time to work out.  (1)   Working out in the morning provides additional benefits beyond being physically fit.

              ● Your productivity is improved. Exercising makes you more awake and ready to handle whatever is ahead of you for the day.  (2)

Everyone wants to perform well at school. Add these tips to your life and you should be on your way to being a top student!

                (1)  I cannot stress how important it is to pay attention to what your teacher is teaching you. Take part in class discussions if you have something worth adding. Pay attention during class, especially during lecture.

Taking notes is important. You don’t need to write down every single word your teacher says but write down what he or she writes on the board, or any special fact you think you might need for a test.  (2)  This way it will help you learn more effectively by actually thinking about what you are writing.

Don’t skip school. You will be missing out on stuff.   (3)  However, you will have more work and you have missed lectures. Also, try not to be late for class. It’s most likely that your teacher won’t appreciate it and you will get yourself behind.

                (4)  If you have an “ I don’t care about school or this class” attitude, then teachers will be less willing to help you with problems or offer you extra credit. The same goes for lazy attitude. Have a respectful attitude to the teacher and other students. Try not to laugh when other students make mistakes.

Always ask questions.   (5)  If you don’t understand, ask someone. Read your textbook and notes, and then if that fails, seek help. Ask a teacher, friend, classmate, parent, etc.

              (1) A. Be prepared.

              B. Write in your own words.

              C. Staying organized will be helpful.

How can I fight laziness ?

Lazy people will never amount to anything in life. However, laziness can be defeated once a few changes have been made in your mind.

__36__. Many people lack sleep constantly, since they stay up too late and get up too early to prepare for work. These people have little motivation once they arrive home. Laziness works hand in hand with a lack of motivation and a tendency to put off things. By adjusting your sleep schedule to provide a few more hours of meaningful rest, you can fight laziness throughout the day.

Another way to fight laziness is to change your mind from passive to active. __37__ Others take a more proactive(积极的) approach, viewing each task as a challenge they must overcome alone. Laziness sets in when you no longer feel in charge of your own life.

Some people fight laziness by removing the temptations(诱惑) that surround them. A television in the living room may provide entertainment, but watching too much TV often contributes to laziness. Create a reward system for yourself, just as parents do for a child.__38__

Laziness can also be a lasting problem at home. Couples and children may all have different energy levels, but laziness can be spread if not dealt with immediately.

__39__ Be the first to collect and wash dishes after a meal. Others in the home may eventually follow your example and perform their own task. It is difficult to practice laziness when you are surrounded by motivated people.

___40__ enough exercise and a balanced diet can help you to develop a healthy lifestyle, thus enabling you to have more energy and help lift your spirits.

            • 8. “You are what you eat,” goes the common English saying. But actually, you are what you drink. Why? Because 75 percent of your body is water! 36
When we don’t give our bodies enough water, our organs cannot work properly. We are also easier to catch diseases. When we are sick, drinking plenty of water should be one of the first things we do. 37
Is your body asking for more water?
If you experience headaches, sleepiness, allergies (过敏) or dizziness (头昏眼花), your body might be telling you to drink more water. 38
Even problems such as nervousness or forgetfulness can be caused by lack(缺乏) of water. In addition, the medicines that treat these illnesses can sometimes dry out your body further. The more water you are lacking in, the worse your health will be—no matter how much medicine you take. 39
How much water is enough for you?
Most experts suggest drinking at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water every day. However, if you weigh more than 128 pounds, you need even more water. Drink an extra glass of water for every 15 pounds of body weight.
Drink more water in the hot summer months and when you exercise to replenish (补充) the water lost through sweating. Caffeine makes your body lose water very quickly. So drink extra water if you drink beverages such as coffee, tea and soda.
