As you start to deal with items on your list, pay attention to when thoughts of procrastination start to come into your mind. If you find yourself thinking “I don‘t feel like doing this now” or “I’ll have time to work on this later,” then you need to recognize that you are about to procrastinate(拖延症). Instead of taking a fall, force yourself to solve it.

                  1   Deal with Your Fear

Fear is one of factor that contributes to procrastination. This can involve a fear of failure, a fear of making mistakes, or even a fear of success. Psychologist suggests that challenging your faulty beliefs is important. By addressing the fear that is keeping you from getting started, you can begin to overcome your procrastination habit.

                 2   Make a List

Start by creating a to-do list with things that you would like to accomplish. If necessary, put a date next to each item if there is a deadline that you need to meet. Estimate how long each task will take to complete, and then double that number so that you don’t fall into the cognitive(认知的)trap of underestimating how long each project will take.

3    Break Projects Down into More Manageable Parts

When you are faced with a big project, you might feel anxious, intimidated, or even hopeless. At this point, break them down into a series of steps. Once you have created a list detailing the process you need to go through in order to accomplish the task, you can start working on individual “baby steps”.

                4    Eliminate(消除) Distractions

It’s hard to get any real work done when you keep turning your attention to what’s on television or you keep checking your friends Facebook status updates. Assign yourself a period of time during which you turn off all distractions -- such as music, television, and social networking sites -- and use that time to focus all of your attention on the task at hand.

                5      Reward Yourself

Once you have completed a task, it is important to reward yourself for your efforts. Give yourself the opportunity to indulge(沉迷于) in something that you find fun and enjoyable, whether its attending a sporting event, or looking at pictures on a social sharing site.

A small town in southwest Britain is banning plastic bags in an attempt to help the environment and cut waste—a step that environmentalists believe is a first for Europe.

Shopkeepers in Modbury agreed to stop handing out disposable plastic bags to customers on Saturday. They said paper sacks and cloth carrier bags would be offered instead.

Last month, San Francisco became the first US city to ban plastic grocery bags.Internationally, laws to discourage the use of plastic bags have been passed in parts of South Africa and Ireland, where governments either tax shoppers who use them or fine companies that hand them out.Bangladesh already bans them, and so do at least 30 remote Alaskan villages.

Modbury, about 225 miles southwest of London, has also declared a bag amnesty (宽限期), allowing local people to hand in plastic bags that have piled up at home. They will be sent for a recycling.

The Modbury ban was the idea of Rebecca Hosking, who saw the effect of bags on marine life while working in the Pacific as a wildlife camerawoman. She said response in the town so far had been “really positive”.

“Modbury is quite an oldfashioned town and a lot of people have wicker baskets to go out shopping anyway,” Hosking told Sky News Television.

For a long time, many people would not believe that smoke could attack so many parts of the   body in so many ways. Study shows, however, that tobacco isn't one single thing. At least 60% of it is gas–20 different kinds of gas. And one of these is the deadly CO(一氧化碳).

In factories, the amount of this gas in the air is measured, and it must be kept under fixed,   safe level. But there is 640 times this safe amount in cigarette smoke.

Oxygen is carried through your body by the red blood cells. But this poison gas, CO, will get to the blood cells before the oxygen can. So, if you smoke, your blood carries five to ten times more of this deadly gas than is normal. To make up for this, your body must make more red cells.

The oxygen in your blood passes into your tissues. But here again CO makes trouble. It keeps the oxygen from passing into your tissues as fast as it should. Because of this, cigarette  country is always about 8000 feet above sea level. Someone who smokes and lives at sea level gets as little oxygen as a nonsmoker at an altitude of nearly two miles. This happens to everyone who smokes, no matter how old or how young. Anyone who competes in sports can tell you that those who smoke run out of breath more quickly than those who do not.

              (1) How much is the gas amount in cigarette smoke?
              A. The passage doesn't talk about it.

              B. 640 times as much as that in factories.

              C. 640 times higher than the gas safe levels in factories.

              D. 640 times lower than the gas sale, levels in factories.
              (2) What happens if you smoke?

              A. Your blood will be poisonous.

              B. Your blood carries more oxygen than is normal.

              C. Your blood carries much more CO than is normal.

              D. You can have five to ten times of blood than usual.
              (3) What does the last sentence of this passage mean?

              A. Smokers are easily tired.
