I believe in the power of the unknown. I believe that asenseof the   (1)   inspires us in all of our creative activities, from  (2)  to art.

When I was a child, after bedtime I would often  (3)  my bed in my sleeping clothes, go to the  (4)  and stare at the stars. I had so many questions. How far away were those tiny points of light? Didspace go on_  (5)  and ever, or was there some end to space, some giant edge? And if so, what  (6)  beyond the edge?

                (7)  of my childhood questions: Did  (8)  go on forever? I looked at pictures of my parents and grandparents and tried to  (9)  their parents, and so on, back through the generations, back and back through time. Looking out of my bedroom window  (10)  _the endlessness of space, time seemed to spread forward and backward  (11)  , swallowing me, swallowing my parents and great-grandparents, the whole  (12)  of earth. Does time go on forever? Or is there some  (13)  of time? And if so, what came before?

When I  (14)  , I became a professional astrophysicist.  (15)  I never answered any of these questions, they continued to  (16)  me, to affect me, to drive me in my scientific research, to cause me to live on just fish and no sleep for  (17)  at a time while I was  (18)  a science problem. These  (19)  questions, and questions like them, challenge and never leave the leading__  (20)  of today.

Sometimes people come into your life and they were meant to be there to serve some sort of propose, to teach you a lesson, or help you   (1)   out who you are or who you want to become. You never know who these people   (2)   be, but when you lock eyes with them, you know   (3)    that they will affect your life in some profound way.

And sometimes things happen to you that may seem horrible,    (4)  , and unfair at first, but   (5)  you find that without overcoming those obstacles you would have never realized your potential, strength, will, or heart. Everything happens   (6)   . Nothing happens by chance or by means of good or bad luck.Ⅲness, injury, lost moments of true greatness, and pure stupidity all occur to test the    (7)   of your soul. Without these small tests,    (8)   they may be, life would be like a smooth, straight road to    (9)   . It would be safe and comfortable, but dull and entirely   (10)    .

The people you meet who   (11)   your life, and the success and downfalls you experience, help to create who you are and who you become.   (12)   the bad experiences can be learnt from. In fact they are probably the most important    (13)   . If someone hurts you or breaks your heart,   (14)   them, for they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being careful    (15)   you open your heart. If someone loves you, love them back,    (16)   because they love you, but because    (17)   , they are teaching you to love and how to open your heart and eyes to things. Make every day   (18)   . Appreciate every moment and   (19)   from those moments everything that you possibly can, for you may never be able to experience it again. Tell yourself you are   (20)   and believe in yourself, for if you don't believe in yourself, it will be hard for others to believe in you.

Most times we see impossibility in the light of impossibility. But let’s get this important _(1)_ clearly: in every impossibility, there is a (n) __(2)__. Even the word, “IMPOSSIBLE” says “I’M POSSIBLE.”

Impossible cases are not forever. __(3)__ it is impossible for one, it is possible for another. Everything is possible; it’s just that the impossible things take a longer time to be __(4)_.

Someone once said, “Success __(5)__ to those individuals who can look at challenge as __(6)___”. Your challenges are golden opportunities for success. How can there be __(7)__ if there are not obstacles? How will you chase storm if there is none? You need challenges to __(8)__ your potential. Success comes out of nothing; success comes from the __(9)__ you face. Those who refuse to give in come out __(10)__ .

Robert X. Perez said, “The seeds of the success spring from failure’s ashes.” Failure is not the __(11)__ , it is a pointer (教鞭), which makes you do better than what you did. You have to know that you are in a __(12)__ study of life. What you face is for your training.

Samuel Aidoo said, “Each failure is simply another chapter to the story of our lives.” To __(13)__ is to understand what not to do. Remember it and don’t give up until your goal is __(14)__.

Jasbeen S. said, “Yeah, life is __(15)__ , and things will come at you left and right. Do not give up, have a __(16)__ outlook on your circumstance and make the best of it—you may learn something new or come out with something __(17)__ .

When life throws shoes at you …..at least pick through the best ones and __(18)__ them on for size! Discover yourself in life by taking pains to fit in it, no matter the __(19)__. The only things in life you ever really __(20)__ are the chances you didn’t take. Take the chances every day and seize the moment.

Food is very important. Everyone needs to _(1)_ well if he or she wants to have a strong body. Our minds also need a kind of food. This kind of food is   (1)  _. We begin to get knowledge even   (2)   we are very young. Small children are   (3)  _ in everything around them. They learn _  (4)   while they are watching and listening. When they are getting older, they begin to  (5)  _ story books, science books…, anything they like. When they find something new, they love to ask questions and   (6)   to find out answers. What is the best   (7)   to get knowledge? If we learn by ourselves, we will get   (8)   knowledge. If we are   (9)   getting answers from others and do not ask why, we will never learn well. When we study in the right way, we will learn more and understand better.

Scientists find that hard-working people live longer than average men and women. Career women are   (1)   than housewives. Evidence shows that the    (2)   are in poorer health than the job-holders. A study shows that    (3)     the unemployment rate(失业率)increases by 1%, the death rate increases correspondingly(相应地) by 2%. All this comes down to one point: Work is helpful to health.

Why is work good for health? It is because work    (4)    people busy,    (5)    loneliness and solitude(独居). Researches show that people feel unhappy,    (6)      and lonely when they have nothing to do. Instead(相反), the happiest are those who are    (7)    . Many high achievers who love their careers feel that they are happiest when they are working hard. Work serves as a    (8)    between man and reality. By work, people   (9)   with each other. Do you see the glass as half-full rather than half-empt?Suchclichés(陈词滥调)are  (1)   questions, as researchers examine with great care the power of positive thinking. Research is proving that optimism can  (2)   you to be happier, healthier and more successful. Pessimism leads,  (3)  , to hopelessness, sickness and failure, and is linked to  (4)  , loneliness and painful shyness. If we could teach people to think more positively, it would be like protecting them against these  (5)   illnesses.

Your abilities count but the belief that you can succeed  (6)   the result. When things go wrong the pessimist tends to  (7)   himself. “I’m not good at this,” he says. “I always fail.” But the optimist looks for other  (8)  . Negative or positive, you are what you think. If people feel hopeless they don’t  (9)   to acquire the skills they need to succeed.

A sense of control is the real test for  (10)  . The optimist feels in control of his own life. If things are going badly, he  (11)   quickly, looking for solutions, forming a new plan of action, and  (12)  for advice. The pessimist feels like a toy of fate and moves slowly. He doesn’t seek advice, since he  (13)   nothing can be done. Many studies suggest that the pessimist’s feeling of helplessness  (14)   the body’s immune system. The pessimist doesn’t take good care of himself. Feeling passive and unable to avoid life’s  (15)  , he expects ill health and other misfortunes, no matter what he does. He eats junk food, avoids exercise, and  (16)   the doctor.

Most people are a(n)  (17)   of optimism and pessimism, but are in favor of one direction or the other. It is a pattern of  (18)   learned at our mothers’ knees. It grows out of thousands of cautions or  (19)  , negative statements or positive ones. Pessimism is a hard habit to  (20)   but it can be done. So, if you are a pessimist, there are ways....

“In university open days with my daughter, I promised not to ask any questions — in case I asked embarrassing ones,” says Mike Nicholson, director of admissions at the University of Bath. Nicholson says he has seen some helicopter      (1)  in action, but was careful to make sure his own teenage daughter was not     (2)  by any overbearing interference (干预). They were able to come to a(n)   (3)  : he could ask questions cautiously, one-on-one, but not   (4)   his hand in the middle of a talk. “Students have to make the change from living at home to living at university and open days are part of the   (5)   he says. “It’s about   (6)   students to ask the questions, rather than the parents saying everything.”

Parental      (7)  in education can be good for students: if anything goes     (8)  further down the line, parents may be more willing to   (9)   It’s also more practical. Karen Darlow, whose son Henry now studies French and classics at Oxford, saw her   (10)   at the university’s open day as driver, note-taker and purchaser of lunch. “I think he was also   (11)   that I was coming because he’s quite shy,” she says. “It was a little bit of   (12)   support.” Most applicants attend open days when they’re in year 12, and parents can bring a practical   (13)   to the day. Many universities have parent zones to address the   (14)   of parents and careers.

                (15)   not everyone thinks having parents with them is a   (16)   idea: University of East Anglia student Alys Earl left hers   (17)   at home. “We’re adults, not year sevens,” she says. Another tip, from Bath’s Nicholson, is to   (18)   There’s value in allowing the students to go off   (19)  it helps their independence and gives them a chance to   (20)   themselves at the university.
