              阅读下面短文,根据其内容写一篇60词左右的内容概要。

Are you sick of going to bed late and waking up tired? Then grab your hiking boots and a tent. A new study suggests that a couple days of camping in the great outdoors can reset your circadian clock(生物钟)and help you get more sleep.

The circadian clock, more commonly known as the body clock, is an internal system that tells our bodies when it's time to go to sleep and when it's time to wake up. Scientists track this clock by measuring the amount of melatonin(褪黑激素)circulating in a person's blood at any given time. In a healthy sleeper, melatonin levels rise a few hours before bedtime, stay high through the night, and then settle back down when it's time to wake up.

In our modern society, however, most of us stay up many hours past sunset and would probably sleep in many hours after sunrise if we could. And the trouble is, your melatonin levels may still be high when your alarm clock goes off in the morning, which leads to grogginess(头晕眼花). It may also have other health consequences as well, such as diabetes(糖尿病), overweight and heart disease.

Professor Kenneth Wright of the University of Colorado in the US wanted to see if our body clocks can be reset by a short stay in nature. His team recruited(招募)14 physically active volunteers in their 20s and 30s. Nine went on a weekend camping trip, while the other five stayed home. At the end of the weekend, the researchers reported that in just two days, the campers' body clocks had shifted so that their melatonin levels began to rise more than an hour earlier than they did before they left on the trip. By contrast, the body clocks of the group that stayed home shifted even later over the course of the weekend. "This tells us we can reset our clocks fast," Wright said.

Therefore, if you want to change your sleep patterns you could try to increase your exposure to natural light during the day and decrease the amount of artificial light you see at night.

              The Elephant and the Fly

An elephant was standing and picking leaves from a tree. A small fly came, flying and buzzing near his ear. The elephant waved it away with his long ears. Then the fly came again, and the elephant waved it away once more.

This was repeated several times. Then the elephant asked the fly, “Why are you so restless and noisy? Why can’t you stay for a while in one place? ”

The fly answered, “I am attracted to whatever I see, hear or smell. My senses pull me constantly in all directions and I cannot resist them. What is your secret? How can you stay so calm and still?”

The elephant said, “My senses do not rule my attention. Whatever I do, I get involved in it. Now that I am eating, I am completely absorbed in eating. In this way I can enjoy my food and chew it better. I rule and control my attention. When you are in charge of your senses and attention, your mind will become calm.”

              阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。

One pleasant new year morning, Edward rose and washed and dressed himself very quickly. He wanted to be the first to wish everyone a happy New Year . He looked in every room, and shouted the words of welcome . He ran into the street to repeat them to those he might meet. When he came back, his father gave him two bright, new silver dollars. His face lighted up as he took them. He had wished for a long time to buy some pretty books that he had seen at the book store.

He left the house with a light heart, intending to buy the books. As he ran down the street, he saw a poor German family, the father, the mother, and three children shivering(发抖)with cold.

“I wish you a happy New Year," said Edward, as he was happily passing by. The man shook his head."You do not belong to this country?"said Edward. The man again shook his head, for he could not understand or speak the English language. But he pointed to his mouth, and to the children, as if to say, “These little ones have had nothing to eat for a long time.”Edward quickly understood that these poor people were in a very difficult situation and required some help. He took out his dollars, and gave one to the man, and the other to his wife.

How their eyes sparkled(闪耀)with gratitude! They said something in their language, which doubtless meant,“We thank you a thousand times, and will remember you in our prayers.”

When Edward came home, his father asked what book he had bought. He hung his head a moment, but quickly looked up. “I have bought no books," said he, “I gave my money to some poor people, who seemed to be very hungry.”

              What’s it all about?

One Small Deed is a website which enables people to let the world know the good deeds they have done and to inspire others to do the same.

              Who are we?

We are not a big organization, but just a group of people who wanted to find a way to make the world a nicer place. We live in London and come from different countries, cultures and walks of life, but the one thing we have in common is the fact that we are kind and giving people who want to see more people like us out there.

              Want to get involved?

All you need to do is just a small good deed as often as you can. If you want to inspire others, then post your deeds on our website.

Some tips for you to get started:

              Open the door for someone.

Offer your seat on the train or bus for someone who needs it more than you.

If a colleague asks for your help at work and you are really busy, find a way.

If someone is in need, like a man in a wheelchair struggling to get across the street, help them.

If you see someone crying, don’t ignore them, ask if you can help.

            • 9. 阅读下面的短文,然后按照要求写一篇150词左右的英语短文。

I was pushed into writing the "Top ten problems teenagers face" after I attended a school program, where I had the opportunity to interact with many teenagers. Each conversation was only adding one more item to the list of problems.

About two thirds of girls in grades nine to twelve "worry about their appearance." While there were no gender differences in worries about school, girls worry about getting along with parents and what to do when they are older. Girls are proven to worry more about personal problems, romantic relationships, being liked by other kids and being concerned about what kind of person they are. In fact, the only thing boys worry about more than girls is succeeding in their physical activities.

What parents need is to look at ways to help teens and take responsibility for what we are exposing our teens to right now. We cannot afford to ignore the parental duties of bringing them up well from the time they are little. Televisions, computers and other gadgets that they spend most of the time with cannot give them the nurturing that only parents can.

              【写作内容】

              (3)有什么其他的方法让自己远离烦恼?

              【写作要求】
