I’m Li Hua from Class 6, Grade 2. I’m writing to you to apply to join in the English Drama Club.

I have been interesting in performing since my childhood. I have also read most of Shakespeare’s plays, that fascinate me greatly. Beside, I am good at spoken English because I always practice speaking with native speakers at our school’s English corner. I win first prize in the Speech Contest of our school last year. If I am accepted, I would like to be a director or an actor so that I can decide which plays to put up and how to perform it well.

I expect to put my talent to good use by performing with other member. I hope to be given such chance.

I was walking home from school while suddenly it rained heavy. What should I do? I didn’t have an umbrella and a raincoat with me.     Challenges of life remind me of my days in senior high school which I joined in the military training. It was the first time I have lived far away from my home, so I found difficult to fit in. And the trained officer was strict with me. I once think I could not stick to the end. And anyway, I succeeded. The trials made it much easy for me to adapt to life, and the difficulty I came across have now all become a precious memory in my life. In a short, I have learned to regard the challenges of life like a stepping stone to future success.

    Most people directly link senior high school life with plenty of stress and endless homeworks. However, some interest activities indeed contribute to reduce the pressure. Last week the entertainment department of our Student Union organized the activity in which each class shoot a short movie. Our class chose a story setting in World War Ⅱ, that showed the preciousness of peace. I think this process was a good lesson that taught to me how to strike a balance between studying or relaxation. Now I am determined than ever to treasure everything I have and fight for my future.

   Last Sunday, I was busy cooking in the kitchen as the telephone rang. I hurried to answer it and sure enough, it was my closely friend, Lisa. When we were talking on a phone, the fire alarm sounded. I ran back to the kitchen immediately, only find that it was full of smoke or the beef was badly burnt. I quickly turned off the gas, opening all the windows, and then went out of the house. In my surprise, two fire engines were outside my house. I felt very ashamed. I told the firemen that was my careless that caused the heavy smoke. Thankful, everything was ok but the beef.
