Brad closed the door slowly as Sue left home to visit her mother.(32)    (Expect) a whole day to relax,he was thinking whether to read the newspaper or watch his favourite TV talk show on his first day off in months."This will be (33)     a walk in the park,"he'd told his wife."I'll look after the kids,and you can go visit your mom."
Things started well,but just after eight o'clock,his three little"good kids"-Mike,Randy,and Alex-came down the stairs in their night clothes and shouted"breakfast,daddy."When food had not appeared within thirty seconds,Randy began using his spoon on Alex's head (34)     it were a drum.Alex started to shout loudly in time to the beat.Mike chanted"Where's my toast,where's my toast"in the background.Brad realized his newspaper would have to wait for a few seconds.
Life became worse after breakfast.Mike wore Randy's underwear on his head.Randy locked (35)     in the bathroom,while Alex shouted again because he was going to wet his pants.Nobody could find clean socks,(36)     they were before their very eyes.Someone (37)    (name)"Not Me"had spilled a whole glass of orange juice into the basket of clean clothes.Brad knew the talk show had already started.
By ten o'clock,things were out of control.Alex was wondering why the fish in the jar refused his bread and butter.Mike was trying to show off his talent by decorating the kitchen wall with his colour pencils.Randy,thankfully,appeared (38)    (draw) a picture quietly in the family room,but closer examination showed that he was eating apple jam straight from the bottle with his hands.Brad realized that the talk show was over and (39)    (read) would be impossible.
At exactly 11:17,Brad called the daycare centre."I suddenly have to go into work and my wife's away.(40)     I bring the boys over in a few minutes?"The answer was obviously"yes"because Brad was smiling.
            • 6. Everyone enjoys a fitting reply; it is wonderful to say the right thing at the right time!
When I was a senior in high school,I (36)     knew I wanted to pursue writing as a career.
Writing had basically(37)    me when I was only 7years old,(38)    since that time,I'd been bombarded by guidance counselors and career planners who all (39)     me to have"a back-up plan"in case writing didn't work out.
              I'd never even (40)    a different career path,so I was very (41)     and worried.After much thought,I decided (42)     would be my"back-up plan,"and I signed up for a class through my high school.
This (43)     that every morning,I would serve as a teacher's helper for my favorite 6th grade teacher,Mr.Ralston.Morning after morning,I showed up in Mr.Ralston's classroom and(44)     papers for him.
Sometimes,I even (45)     a lesson or two.It was fun,and the students seemed to like me,so I was surprised when it came time for my (46)    .Mr.Ralston looked me right in the eyes and asked,"Do you really want to teach?"
"Had I really been that (47)    ?"I thought.
              "Don't misunderstand.You'll do fine in teaching,"he continued."But,is your(48)     really in it?"
"Not really,"I (49)    ."I want to write.I want to write news stories and fiction and poetry and so much more…but I've been told it's tough to make it as a writer (50)     I thought maybe I would teach and then use my summers(51)     to pursue writing."
As I shared with Mr.Ralston my hopes,dreams and carefully plotted-out back-up plan,he smiled and said,"Why are you preparing to (52)     with this back-up plan?If you want to be a writer,go for it!Pursue writing!"
Mr.Ralston's (53)     to follow my dreams was the little nudge I needed to help me push past my (54)     of not making it as a writer and simply"Go for it!"
That's what an encouraging word will do when spoken in love in (55)    season.So,let's try and be like Mr.Ralston and speak that word of encouragement at just the right time and make a difference in someone's life today.

              阅读下面短文,根据其内容写一篇60词左右的内容概要。

When many people imagine acquiring the wisdom of an older generation, they picture a father-knows-best moment. But the numbers are rapidly changing. Today, 27 percent of married women manage their household finances alone, up from 14 percent a decade ago, according to a recent survey. Among women who are the higher earner in their household(44 percent of married women), 65 percent manage their household’s finance. Among women who earn less than their husbands, half share the responsibility for financial and retirement planning.

As Mother’s Day approaches, we can look at how mothers can teach kids about money. More than 70 percent of adults say they learned about the importance of saving from their parents. A 2015 survey reports that 75 percent of post-2000 generation say they would take financial advice from their mothers. That advice might be paying off. A survey released earlier in 2016 found that post-2000 generation have increased their savings more than any other generation.

In a Mother’s Day survey about financial service, 55 percent of people said their mothers encouraged them to be frugal(节俭的). Moms are also well-remembered for teaching kids about sales, and how to tell the difference between a want and a need. (A rule of thumb from some mothers: If nothing bad will happen and if you do not buy the item, it is a want, not a need.)

Research shows that women are more likely than men to rank long-term goals, such as not outliving retirement savings, as very important. This is wise, because women live three to five years longer than men, on average. Fortunately for women, some studies have shown that women are better investors.

A recent study found that 60 percent of women believe it is very important to support their family’s financial needs if something were to happen to them. In contrast, only 49 percent of men put this emphasis on their family.

Many people trust their mothers in other financial lessons. These include the value of saving for a goal, the worth of hard work and the importance of budgeting.
