Tips on how to save money

It’s important for you teenagers to know how to save money. You know that the money you save can be for rainy days and be used to pay through your college education. If you think it’s a difficult task and don’t know how to do it, please do as the following.

                (1)

My dad always tells me that if one doesn’t respect money, it will never respect you. Hence, it’s important that you keep a record of your daily expenses. Make it a habit to write down all that you have spent. And when you find out the total expenses at the end of the month, you will realize what you have spent more money in doing.  (2)

              Open a savings account.

Opening a savings account is a better way to save money. You can set a goal; say (for example), the money is for a new notebook or for college, and then save, until you have enough money to buy a notebook or until you go to college.   (3)

              Do not carry much cash.

Do you have the habit of not leaving a store without buying anything? The only way to stop that is carrying less money around with you. Go to the store with the minimum amount of money, which will not even help you buy a drink.   (4)

              Save the changes.

Save the changes that you get back. If you have gone to a shop to buy something and get back some changes, then do not spend them.  (5)   And you’ll be surprised at the huge amount of money after days.

Follow these tips above, and thus you can save a lot of money. And surely, they’ll help you to be more responsible in your life.

Learning a foreign language can be interesting.  (1)  In order to increase your chances of success, it is important to consider which method of language learning will provide you with the most benefits. So think about the three ways of learning a language: self-study at home, attending classes and online courses.

The main disadvantage of learning by yourself is that there is no one available to answer your questions. One way to deal with this is to make a list of your questions and ask for the help of a native speaker of the language regularly.   (2)

Learning a foreign language in a classroom is probably the most popular choice. The regularity (规律性) of the lessons will encourage you to attend.   (3)  In most cases, the enthusiasm of the other students may also encourage you to make progress.

Online learning is the newest method of learning a foreign language. It suits both the students who prefer to learn alone and the students who may prefer to attend a class but are unable to do so.    (4)    It is also possible to ask questions and to communicate with other students online.

Whichever method you choose, keep in mind the reasons why you are learning the language.  (5)   This will help you stay focused throughout the learning process.

              (1) A. Many students prefer to learn by themselves.
              B. But it can also be difficult, frustrating and boring.
              C. You should also make sure you will benefit from it.
              D. You will be able to ask the teacher questions face to face.
              E. You may even decide to ask others sometimes to help your self-study.
              F. Online learning makes the whole process more interesting and fun.
              G. Your personality should be considered when deciding which method of learning to use.

Every year in the first week of English class, some students inform me that writing is too hard.   (1)   Because they find the writing process painful and difficult.

How awful it is to be able to speak in a language but not to write in it, especially with its rich vocabulary.   (2)  When I meet students who think they can’t write, I know, as a teacher my duty is to show them the rest of the rooms. My task is to build fluency and accuracy while providing the opportunity in any writing activity to enhance(增强)the moral and emotional development of my students.   (3)

Writing ability is like strength training.  (4)   Just as muscles grow stronger with exercise, writing skills improve quickly with writing practice daily. I often see a rise in student confidence and performance after only a few weeks of journal writing.

Expressing oneself in writing is one of the most important skills I teach to strengthen the whole students.   (5)  They build skills so that some say they might write a great novel, a piece of sorely needed legislation(法规), or the perfect love letter. That they write in their journals every day puts them a step closer to fluency, eloquence(雄辩)and command of the language.

              (1) A.    Their writings can be so confusing sometimes that it even takes me plenty of time to revise them.
              B.     They never write, unless homework requires it.
              C.     Being able to speak but not write is like living in an enormous house and never leaving one small room.
              D.    When my students practice journal writing, they are practicing for their future academic, political, and emotional lives.
              E.     One great way to do this is by having students write in a journal in class every day.
              F.      Writing needs to be done just like exercise.
              G.    There diverse ways to improve their writing skills.

                (2)  Add photos or video to make your e-cards more personal.
                (3)

If you plan to mail your cards, remember to consider postage costs. Square cards look cool, but they cost more than a regular stamp to mail because they’re not a standard size. If cost is a consideration, stick to rectangular(矩形的)cards and avoid too heavy ribbons that increase your mailing costs.

              l Look at unexpected sources.

You don’t have to order custom greeting cards with your family’s photo. Preprinted greeting cards can cost less and work just as well.  ____ (4)____ The best part is that when these cards don’t have a photo or the year printed on them, you can use any leftovers in the future.

How to Make Your Homework Less Work

Homework is a major part of going to school. It’s your teachers’ way of evaluating how much you understand what’s going on in class.   (1)   However, there’re times when you complain about being given too much homework. Luckily, you can do a few things to make homework less work.

Be sure you understand the homework.

Write your homework down in your notebook or day planner if you need to.   (2)   It’s much easier to take a minute to ask the teacher during or after class than to struggle to remember later that night!

Use any extra time in school.

Many schools have study halls that are specifically designed to allow students to study. It’s tempting to hang out with friends during study periods or unstructured time.   (3)

                 Take a break.

                   (4)   So take some breaks while doing your homework. Sitting for too long without stretching or relaxing will make you less productive than if you stop every so often. Taking a 15-minute break every hour is a good idea for most people.

                   (5)

If you don’t finish your homework during school, think about how much you have left and what else is going on that day, and then budget your time. Most high school students have between 1 and 3 hours of homework a night. If it’s a heavy homework day and it seems like you’ve got an assignment in every subject but gym and lunch, you’ll need to devote more time to homework. It’s a good idea to come up with some kind of homework schedule, especially if you are involved in sports or activities or have an after-school job.

Green living is living in a way that helps take care of the earth. It also means using only what you really need of the earth’s resources. Here are some easy ways you can reduce pollution and protect the environment.

              Reuse shopping bags.

Carry your own bag and use it over and over again. Many stores sell bags that you can use for shopping so you don’t have to take a plastic bag from the store. If you have plastic bags at home, don’t throw them away.   (1)

                (2)

When you buy things that have less packaging, you are keeping garbage out of the landfills. For example, instead of buying a box of cookies that holds eight little bags of cookies inside, buy a box that doesn’t divide the cookies into little bags. Take the time to make your own portions (食物的份额) in a reusable bowl at home, and save the extra garbage from polluting the earth!

              Use less water.

Keepthe water OFF when you are brushing your teeth.  (3)   Sometimes, depending on where you live, it may seem like there is an endless supply of water and so it doesn’t really matter how much you use. But this isn’t true. The water supply isn’t endless because not all water is clean water.

                (4)

When you use a piece of paper, you are using a natural resource from the earth. If you use a recycled piece of paper, you are protecting our trees and water.

              Plant a tree.

Planting a tree can have many benefits!   (5)   It can stop erosion(侵蚀). Trees help keep the air clean and they make oxygen that we can breathe.

              (1) ______
              A. It can provide shade.
              B. Buy recycled products.
              C. Take shorter showers.
              D. Buy products with less packaging.

              F. It can make the environment worse.
