My friend Kate was a pretty girl whose sweet voice
drew others' attentions. Last year, she left to study at a music
school. Yesterday she called to say that she wants to see me but
not at my house. So we fixed a time and a place and then hung.
Today I met her at a given time and place. Greatly
to my surprise, I found her so much changing. She
looked very sorrowful and worrying. She said she had made
such little progress that she was almost hopeless of success.
She wondered that whether she had been wasting her
time doing nothing. I knew he just needed some encouragement.
So I did what I could persuade her to gain her courage again.

In recent years many flowers shops have been appeared in our small town. It
is common for people to buy flowers when they go to a gathering, visiting a sick
friend, or attend a wedding or birthday party. I still remember clear one day last year
when Tom, a disabled student, presenting some flowers to his mother to express
his gratitude. He owe his life to his mother's patient care. With her he would
not have had the confidence or the courage to fight her disability. As a
result the great effort he has made, he was finally admitted to a key university.

              Dear Abby,
How are you? I've got a wonderful news to tell you. I have offered a scholarship
at a university in Australia for my further education. Three hundreds and twenty
students took the exam for it, but only a few were chosen and I was one of them.
Therefore, my parents are not happy about it. They are strong against my going there.
They say it is too far that they will not see me for a whole year and they are afraid that
I will feel lonely and will not be used to the climate here. They can't imagine a young
girl like me live alone. They advise me to study in the capital instead. Then I'll be able
to continue living with them. How could I persuade them to accept the fact I have grown up?

And other students have started gossiping. They

the friendship, but I hate the others

              Dear Mary,
We've been pen friends for a year now. It's a fun, isn't it? This year I'm starting my
college life. I'm real excited. Everything will be different with things in high school. I'll
have more classes, and each of the class will be in a different classroom. In the dormitory
I will have a locker which I can keep my textbooks, notebooks, coats and other thing.
This is my favorite thing about going college. Two students will have to share a locker.
I will like my friend Kim to be my locker partner. We're thinking of put our favorite pictures
on the locker door. Please sending me a new picture of yourself! OK?

Welcome to the Polynesian Cultural Centre! You are entering a world of funs! My name is called Tera,
a Polynesian name which mean "the sun". I'm very glad you can come today and learn about some of the
amazing Polynesian way. As you can see, here behind myself is one of their boats. To build a boat like this,
you needed a very tall, straight tree. You first cut down the tree and remove the branch. Then you cut the
tree in half so you have two long pieces of woods. You use one piece to make the boat. Remove the inside
for a person to sit. Take the bark off the outside of the boat and puts oil on it so it will easily go through
the sea. Some Polynesian boats have sails.
