In the depths of the French Guianese rainforest, there still remain unusual groups of indigenous(土著的) people.Surprisingly, these people live largely by their own laws and their own social customs. And yet, people in this area are in fact French citizens because it has been a colony(殖民地) of the French Republic since 1946.In theory, they should live by the French law is often ignored or unknown, thus making them into an interesting area of“lawlessness”in the world.
The lives of these people have finally been recorded thanks to the effects of a Frenchman from Paris called Gin.Gin spent five months in early 2015 exploring the most remote corners of this area, which sits on the edge of the Amazon rainforest, with half its population of only 250,000living in its capital,Cayenne.
“I have a special love for the French Guianese people.I have worked there on and off for almost ten years,”says Gin.“I’ve been able to keep firm friendships with them. Thus I have been allowed to gain access to their living environment.I don’t see it as a lawless land. But rather I see it as an area of freedom.”
“I wanted to show the audience a photographic record touching upon the uncivilized life,”continues Gin.“I prefer to work in black and white, which allows me to show different specific worlds more clearly.”
His black-and-white pictures present a world almost lost in time. These pictures show people seemingly pushed into a world that they were unprepared for. These local citizens now have to balance their traditional self-supporting hunting lifestyle with the lifestyle offered by the modern French Republic, which brings with
it
not only necessary state welfare, but also alcoholism, betrayal and even suicide.
28.Why does the author feel surprised about the indigenous people in French Guiana?
A.They seldom follow the French law.
B.They often ignore the Guianese law.
C.They are separated from the modern world.
D.They are both Guianese and French citizens.
29.Gin introduced the special world of the indigenous Guianese as
.
A.a tour guide
B.a geographer
C.a film director
D.a photographer
30.What is Gin’s attitude towards the lives of the indigenous Guianese?
A.Cautious.
B.Doubtful.
C.Uninterested.
D.Appreciative.
31.What does the underlined word“it”in the last paragraph refer to?
A.The modern French lifestyle.
B.The self-supporting hunting.

one day,I noticed the most beautiful Cadillac pull in the lot while waiting for my husband.A pretty female driver pulled into the spot beside our car. There was a striking resemblance to Liz Taylor. Her eyes were as blue as the sea,and teeth like an even row of pearls.A few minutes 1ater,a nice looking man entered her car, leaned over and kissed her and she drove away.
Sitting there,I wanted to cry.How could some people have it all?
Then it became almost routine to see her about once a week. She seemed friendly and always waved, flashing a big smile. My envy continued to exist long after she drove away.
A couple of weeks later, sitting in our usual parking lot,I was holding a book, watching her over the top of it.Her husband came to the car, took her arm and helped her out of the car.I could see very well as she moved to get out.She unsteadily walked around to the passenger side very slowly, leaning on a walking cane.Sitting sideways.she lifted one leg with her hands and then the other. The beautiful lady had a prosthesis(假肢) on the left Ieg and a brace(支持物) on the right leg.
I couldn’t watch them drive away as the tears were blinding me.Through my tears,I told my husband about the beautiful lady.He said he knew her husband and the story. The lady and her parents were in a car that got caught on the railroad tracks and was hit by a train. Both parents were killed and she was severely injured. She was only 12years old.The railroad made a large
settlement
with her because the crossing had no signals. He explained her car was specially built for her needs as well as the home.
I prayed for forgiveness all the way home. The lady I thought had everything I didn’t.I realized how lucky I was to have my parents, the ability to walk, run or dance through life and many wonderful things money can’t buy.I would not have traded places with the beautiful lady for anything.
When you meet a person who seems to be much better off than you, don’t be fooled.

A.She thought of Liz Taylor.
B.She had no such expensive car.
C.She disliked her own eyes and teeth.

A.Replacement. B.Payment. C.Appointment. D.Encouragement.
26.What made the author pray for forgiveness all the way home?
A.Regretting her marriage.
B.Admiring the lady’s appearance.
C.Knowing the lady’s suffering.
D.Leaving without waving to the lady.
27.What does the author want to tell us?
A.Seeing is believing.
B.Looks can be deceiving.
C.Happiness consists in beauty.
D.Everything happens for the best.

When John was growing up,other kids felt sorry for him.His parents always had him weeding the garden, carrying out the garbage and delivering newspapers. But when John reached adulthood,he was better off than his childhood playmates. He had more job satisfaction,a better marriage and was healthier. Most of all,he was happier.Far happier.
These are the findings of a 40-year study that followed the lives of 456teenage boys from Boston. The study showed that those who had worked as boys enjoyed happier and more productive lives than those who had not.“Boys who worked in the home or community gained competence (能力) and came to feel they were worthwhile members of society,”said George Vaillant, the psychologist (心理学家) who made the discovery.“And because they felt good about themselves, others felt good about them.”
Vaillant’s study followed these males in great detail.Interviews were repeated at ages 25,31and 47.Under Vaillant, the researchers compared the men’s mental-health scores with their boyhood-activity scores with their boyhood-activity scores.Points were awarded for part-time jobs, housework, effort in school, and ability to deal with problems.
The link between what the men had done as boys and how they turned out as adults was surprisingly
sharp
.Those who had done the most boyhood activities were twice as likely to have warm relations with a wide variety of people, five times as likely to be well paid and 16times less likely to have been unemployed. The researchers also found that IQ and family social and economic class made no real difference in how the boys turned out.Working----at any age----is important.Childhood activities help a child develop responsibility, independence, confidence and competence---the underpinnings (基础) of emotional health. They also help him understand that people must cooperate and work toward common goals. The most competent adults are those who know how to do this.Yet work isn’t everything. As Tolstoy once said,“One can live magnificently in this world if one knows how to work and how to love,to work for the person one loves and to love one’s work.”

You may open your electronic mail and find information about how to buy medicine, cheap airline tickets, and books and,of course, computers and computer products. There may also be offers for investment deals, bank loans and special holidays. However,to many computer users, this use of electronic spam to sell products has become a major problem as it makes computer communication more difficult.
Many companies who want to send a great deal of advertising might use the services of a“spammer.”A spammer is a person or company that uses computers to send out millions of copies of the same sales information.Spammers find e-mail addresses from websites, news groups and“chat rooms”where people send messages to each other.
Most spam is sent by companies who are trying to get you to buy their products. Some of these are honest companies that offer good products or services for fair prices. These companies can offer their products for a cheaper price than you might find in a store. However, much of the spam on the Internet is sent by criminals who are trying to sell products that do not exist or offer services they will not provide. They are only interested in stealing your money. When you answer their spam, you find you are expected to send them money and receive a gift.If you just follow what they ask you to do without any consideration,it is likely that you will be cheated and lose some money.

Group exercise is one of the most effective ways to improve physical fitness and sustain a healthy lifestyle.Group exercise is challenging, yet fun and empowering!Of course everyone knows that exercise is good for the body. However, studies have shown that when exercise is performed in groups,it's not only great for improving physical health but for psychological health. It's an opportunity to be social, release endorphins(内啡肽),and improve your strength.Additionally, group exercise creates a community feel and the shared common goal motivates participants to work hard. The instrumental support of taking on a fitness journey with others proves more effective than going to the gym alone.
Another beneficial aspect of group exercise is the informational support participants receive from the instructor. Many people fear the gym because they feel lost and don't want to embarrass themselves. If you feel you can relate, then group training is an even better option for you. It's a great opportunity to learn more about fitness through the clear instruction and supervision (监管) of a fitness instructor. If you're tired of wandering around the gym wasting time and becoming bored, you can attend an upbeat group fitness class that’ll keep your workout on track.Don't letfitness frighten you!
If you're serious about wanting to live a healthy lifestyle,it's extremely important to surround yourself with people who'll provide you with the proper emotional support.I wouldn't scold anyone for deciding to party on weekends and in turn I wouldn't expect anyone to give offence to me for focusing on my health.Surround yourself with people who uplift, encourage and understand you!Make fitness even more fun by trying something new or any group fitness class, with a friend.Plan to go for a jog together. Then try a fun healthy restaurant or fresh juice bar!Fitness can be both fun and social!
Surrounding yourself with people who'll provide you with respect support can be very beneficial while working towards reaching health and fitness goals.First, decide to do it for yourself and work towards staying positive. Then make sure the people you surround yourself with are supportive.Don't let negativity ruin your motivation.
72.The first paragraph focuses on

”.

74.When it comes to emotional support, the author thinks it necessary

While you may be doing everything right, ignoring just one or two steps in the process may keep you from getting a job, especially in this fierce market. Here is a checklist that covers some of the major links in the job-search chain.
THE RESUME---Make sure it is up-to-date and tailored to the types of jobs you are seeking for.Have someone else look at your resume. If you cannot afford a career coach, give your resume to friends or family members to scrutinize.Have copies of your resume printed so that you are ready to hand them out at interviews.
COVERING LETTERS---Maybe you’ve set up a few basic styles in advance, but that’s not enough. Each covering letter should be designed to suit the job for which you are applying.
THE WARDROBE(衣橱)---Check your wardrobe to ensure that you have the appropriate professional dress, including shoes, ready for interviews.
NETWORKING---Don’t isolate yourself from others for days.Network through e-mail messages, phone calls, appointments and meetings keep you in touch with the outside world and prevent you from becoming depressed.
APPLICATION---A glance at huge online job sites isn’t usually the best way to find a job.You are more likely to succeed through the people you know via networking.
THE FOLLOW-UP---It is quite common to apply for a job and never hear back from the company.Take measures, such as following up with a phone call a week or so after you apply. If you know someone at the company, check whether that person will put in a good word for you.
INTERVIEWS---If you’ve got plenty of interviews but no return calls or job offers, take a look at your interviewing skills. This is one area where investing in a career coach may pay off.But if you can’t afford one,try to find a job group or service that conducts free mock(模拟) interviews.
SUPPORT SYSTEMS---Finally,recognize that looking for a job is rather difficult.Even at the best of times,a job hunt is often about rejection, and that can be hard to endure.Staying in touch with family, friends, professional networks and fellow job seekers can help you to maintain a positive attitude and a sense of perspective.

Among my most memorable vacation moments with my kids was the phone call I made from a peak in the Teton Range one summer. The boys were seven and ten,and they had not taken to the awesome scenery with the enthusiasm (热情) I'd hoped.I believe the word“bored”was uttered once or twice, and someone actually complained,“Are we there yet?”
I had a flashback to my own childhood-The Alps, not the Teton, but the same lack of appreciation from the backseat.“Can you at least grunt (咕哝) your appreciation so I'll know you're still there?”My father asked. My siblings and I did so all the way up a mountain and back down.
Now I call my dad from a Wyoming mountain and apologize.
Traveling with children is not always a postcard.
There's the getting there, and being there, and the getting back home. This involves planning and patience in things unimagined.Yet,my parents persevered, taking us with them every summer.
I have long been glad they“dragged”me to travel with them everywhere, but it wasn't until that day in the Teton that I fully understood what I was grateful for.Until then,I'd thought only of what travel had given me as an individual:the sense of comfort in new places and the knowledge that there was a big world out there. My call to my father was the first time I appreciated what the trips had given us as a family. We were never more a family than when we were all away from home.Every day in the back of a rental car,my brother, sister, and I became a unit, relying on each other for entertainment.Back home,we had separate orbits-different friends, teachers, activities and bedrooms.Away,we were in sync (同步的),but also dissolving in what we thought were silent giggles (咯咯笑) between those grunts up the mountain.
“I'm sorry,”I said to my father 25years later from Wyoming.
“That's one of my favorite memories,”Dad replied.
Now that I think of it,it's one of mine too.
26.When the author took her children to travel with her, they felt
.
A.grateful
B.curious
C.impatient
D.nervous
27.Which of the following is TRUE about the author according to the passage?

C.She got bored with traveling during her childhood.
D.She felt sorry for taking her children to travel.
28.The author called her father in the Teton Range to
.
A.encourage her father to travel
B.make an apology to her father
C.tell him her children's complaints
D.show her excitement during the journey
29.What does the underlined part mean in Paragraph 4?
A.Traveling with children is not an easy job.
B.Children do not like traveling in mountains.
C.Traveling with children is an expensive journey.
D.There's no time to deliver postcards during the journey.
30.The author feels grateful to her parents for travel because
.
A.they keep her physically healthy

When Dekalb Walcott III was just 8years old,his father,a Chicago fire chief, let him
tag along
on a call.Dekalb says a lot of kids idolized basketball player Michael Jordan when he was growing up in Chicago in the 1990s.Not him.
“I wanted to be like Dekalb Walcott Jr.,“he says of his father.
So when his dad asked if he wanted to go on that call with him when he was 8,Dekalb was excited.“I'm jumping up and down, saying,“Mom,can I go?Can I go?'“
The experience changed Dekalb's life,he tells his dad on a visit to StoryCorps.“My eyes got big from the moment the alarm went off.“the younger Dekalb says.“This is the life that I want to live someday.“
Now 27,the younger Dekalb is living that life.He became a firefighter at 21and went to work alongside his dad at the Chicago Fire Department. Before his father retired, the pair even went out on a call together-father supervising(监督) son.

“I received a phone call that night. And they said,'Well, your son was at this fire.'I said,'OK,which way is this conversation going to go?'“Dekalb Walcott Jr.recalls.
“And they said,'But he's OK.And he put it out all by himself.Everybody here was proud of him.'
“And the word went around,'Who was out there managing that fire?Oh,that's Walcott! That's Walcott up there!'So,you know, moments like that,it's heaven on Earth for a dad.“

My wife and I have always been friendly with the clerks at the local convenience store.I don’t think many people appreciate what a difficult job these folks have. They work for a little over minimum wage and I often wonder how they make ends meet.
One of the clerks,Charlie, was always wearing his glasses but he didn’t one day.I asked him about it and he said they’d been out of order and that he couldn’t afford a new pair. His family needed money. It was obvious that he was having a difficult time.
We wanted to help him,so we turned to our own eye doctor for assistance with a plan.We had his secretary contact him, asking him to come in for an eye exam for free.We told the doctor to let him order whatever glasses he wanted and that we would pay for them.Although Charlie questioned what was going on,the doctor just told him that someone had offered the money for his new glasses. When we went in to pay the bill, the doctor told us he was so touched by our idea that he waived the exam fee and only charged us for half the price of the glasses!
It was so wonderful to see Charlie in her new glasses and he enjoyed telling all the regular customers how the gift came about.I’m sure that upon hearing her story, ideas of kindness may have emerged in the minds of many.

You are going along in a conversation with a friend and it all seems to be good, and suddenly, you say something and the conversation stops entirely. And you’re thinking“What happened?”You didn’t say anything insulting(侮辱的)or mean, you just voiced your opinion.Or so you think…
I had lunch the other day with a dear friend.I travel a lot for work, and she used to.I was complaining about the air travel.I said how I would love some day to get into the first class cabin where sutely conditions were far better than the economy(经济舱).My friend said“You know what I used to do?I'd buy my
coach ticket
,but then,at the last minute, right before boarding started,I’d go up to the counter agent and ask if there were any first class seats still available. And often, they’d say‘yes!’and I'd only pay an extra 200insteadof 2000and get to fly first.”I immediately retorted with“Oh,that would never happen now. They jam the planes so full, there’s never an available seat to be had.“And with that, the conversation ended-at least that part of it.
It was only later that it hit me I had unwisely said no to my friend’s experience of life.I had slammed(砰地关,使劲摔)my reality in her face,as if hers didn’t matter.
There are few things worse that we do to our friends than make them feel like they don’t matter. We rarely mean to,yet we do it all the time.It would have been so easy for me to consider her experience in my response:“I never thought of that.I wonder if it would still work, given the general overcrowding.”I would not have thus denied either her experience or mine. And there would have been a continuing basis for conversation, had we wished to do so.
Simply put, instead of listening competitively,we need to listen to learn.
