China’s Internet regulator said on Monday it would send an investigation team to Chinese search leader Baidu Inc over the death of a university student, who had used the search engine to look for treatment for his cancer.

Wei Zexi, 21, died last month of a rare form of cancer. He had turned to Baidu to look online for the best place for treatment, finding a department under the Second Hospital of Beijing Armed Police Corps which offered an experimental form of treatment that ultimately failed, according to state media.

Before dying, Wei has posted criticism online accusing Baidu of promoting false medical information, as well as the hospital for misleading advertising in claiming a high success rate for the experimental treatment, state radio said.The regulator said in a short statement Wei’s case had attracted widespread attention on the Internet.

It, along with the health ministry and State Administration for Industry and Commerce, would investigate Baidu over the case and “handle it in accordance with the law” and publicize its findings.

67.  With global warming and melting ice, it isn’t easy being a polar bear any more.Some studieshave predicted that polar bears could be extinct by the end of the century. The good news is that not all researchers think the bears are absolutely doomed. Scientists at the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) have published a new paper indicating that things might not be as bad for polar bears as some scientists expect.

    To understand the reason for the researchers’ cautious optimism, we must firstunderstand the factors that are threatening the polar bear’s existence. Polar bears consume a diet of mainly young seals. In order to hunt these seals, polar bears need to rest at the top of sea ice – the same ice that is increasingly melting for most of the year thanks to climate change. In another 50 years, experts expect that the Arctic will be too warm for sea ice to form for half of the year, leaving polar bears without a reliable food source and in serious danger of starvation.

     As it turns out,alternative food sources for the polar bears aren’t completely out of the question. For as long as biologists have tracked the animals, they’ve seen polar bears eating animals found on land like caribou（驯鹿）and snow geese – as well as the snow geese’s eggs.

     Can polar bears actually survive off these alternative food sources for long periods of time? To figure this out, researchers calculated the nutrients that a caribou and snow geese diet would provide. They found that even adult male polar bears would be able to obtain more calories than they would burn in hunting these meals. Moreover, the food would provide the sustenance（食物、营养）necessary to avoid starvation during the summer months.

     Unfortunately, not all polar bears have tended to seek food on land. That said, the researchers expect that necessity would push more polar bears to hunt on land to avoid starvation. They also expect that the bears could learn from their fellow bears how to hunt on land until the practice becomes second nature.

For long, there was a little boy with a bad temper. His father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he would hammer a nail in the back fence.

A bookseller in Chongqing municipality has been leaving novels on trains and at stations to inspire more commuters to read, after seeing British actress Emma Watson take part in a similar project in London.

  Author and bookstore owner Jiang Lin, 29, randomly paced 40 works along the city’s light-rail system on Sunday.

  Jiang’s Books on the Chongqing Light Rail project follows the same model as Books on the Underground, which was started in 2012 and sees “book fairies” leave works on London Tube trains and at stations.

 Those who find a book can read it in public or take it home, but they are encouraged to leave it again on public transportation once they have finished with it, Jiang said. To his surprise, one of his friends was among those who found his books and posted at picture on WeChat Moments, a social media function on the instant-messaging app. Jiang said more than 20 people have since come onboard and are now working on a more detailed plan to spread the love of reading.

  Faced with the book fairy, quite a few people like Jing Lin, argue that the campaign is of great importance when it comes to helping people improve reading skill. Others, however, set forth a totally different argument, according to the situation where books left on the light-rail weren’t attached enough importance to, were damaged and even littered, that the campaign is of little meaning for it running the risk of wasting money, without bringing effect.

Many years ago, when I was fresh out of school and working in Denver, I was driving to my parents' home in Missouri for Christmas．I stopped at a gas station about 50 miles from Oklahoma City, where I was planning to stop and visit a friend．While I was standing in line at the cash register(收款台), I said hello to an older couple who were also paying for gas．
