How to Love Your Parents ?

Even if you think that your parents are mean-spirited at times, loving your parents is a normal and fulfilling part of life. You love them for the fact that they created you, raised you, and are in part, a source of who you are.   (1)  .

Tell them you love them every morning. A gentle “good morning” and “I love you” will warm a coldest heart. Remember that they brought you into this world. Without your parents, you might still wander at an unknown corner in an unknown world.

Respect them more and cherish these moments. You can use these moments to learn from them, preparing yourself for when you’re off on your own. It’s OK to get angry but angry actions don’t help you or your parents. Act calmly, cool off, write down your feelings, or talk to a friend.  (2)   .

Obey their requests. It will make your attitude better and earn you more respect from them. It may seem like you are going through hell when you don’t get what you want or you have to clean. However, you had better remember they keep a roof over your head when it’s cold, raining, snowing, or too hot. Understand that parents are human beings and make mistakes.   (3)   Since you can forgive your friends, why not forgive your parents?

Keep company with them. Do things with your parents like watching TV, or going somewhere with them.   (4)  Listen to their old stories and learn from them. You will find they are your teachers in this way or another.

Some people simply may not be able to love their parents.   (5)  Seek help if you are being abused in any way. Parents do not have a right to harm you.

              (1) A. Parents will in turn express their love to you.
              B. Forgiveness is the key.

Everyone has worries, but what do you do with your worries? Whether your worries are big or small, you can take three steps to deal with them.

Try to find out the causes.

              (1) Sometimes you know it, but sometimes you might not. If you can’t make sure what your worries are, you will have more and more new problems in your life. So remember that you must try to find out the causes before you start to deal with them even though it might not be so easy.

              (2)

There is always something you can do to help you feel less worried. Sitting there worrying is no fun and it won’t solve your problem. (3) If you’re worried about grades, ask yourself these questions:

★How do I get ready for class? Do I review my notes even when there isn’t a test?

★Do I have a good place to do my homework?

              (4)

If your worry is about a fight you had with a friend, you might write down all the things you could do — write a note to him or her, invite him or her to a basketball game, say sorry to him or her etc. .Once you have a list of things you could do, you can choose the one that gets your friend back.

              Ask for help.

When you are worried, you need to find someone to communicate with.

              (5) They will help you analyze(分析)your problems carefully and solve them easily.

              (1) A. Think of the ways to make it better.
              B. You can ask your parents, friends, or teachers for help.

Common-sense Safety Tips for Travelling Abroad

When a holiday is just around the corner, you may be planning a trip abroad. But to enjoy a worry-free adventure abroad, you also should pay attention to the following common-sense safety tips for travelling abroad.

                       (1)

Another reason to take only carry-on carriage---besides avoiding baggage fees---is that the less you have to carry around, the more quickly you can move, if necessary. You should always have a free hand. Besides, you won’t be exhausted from dragging all those bags around.   (2)

                 Lock it up.

Leave your hotel with only what you need and lock up the rest. Take a lock for your luggage just in case your hotel doesn’t offer a safe.  (3)    If you don’t need all your cash and cards, don’t take them all with you when you go out for a day of sightseeing or shopping. Also, leave your passport in the hotel. Make photocopies of all your important documents and leave the hotel with a copy of your passport plus a one photo I.D. Why?   (4)   If all of your identification is in it, imagine the trouble you have to go through to replace it all.

                 Think and Plan.

Always keep in mind that, when you travel abroad, you are in a place you don’t know well and you can always be a target. Trust your senses.   (5)  After your arrival, ask the hotel staff and locals about the areas you are thinking of visiting, especially at night. And you should walk in well-lit areas at night and know how to contact the local police with your cell phone or a payphone in a foreign country, if necessary.

              (1) A. Travel light.
              B. Pay by credit card.
              C. Imagine having your bag stolen off a restaurant table.
              D. You should also make it a habit to take your watch with you.
              E. Plus, dragging lots of luggage is a dead giveaway that you aren’t a local resident.
              F. You should call ahead to be sure, especially if your luggage is made of cloth material.
              G. You are smart and mature, so if something or some situation doesn’t feel safe, it probably isn’t.

Secret codes (密码)keep messages private. Banks, companies, and government agencies use secret codes in doing business, especially when information is sent by computer.

People have used secret codes for thousands of years.  (1)  Code breaking never lags(落后) far behind code making. The science of creating and reading coded messages is called cryptography.

There are three main types of cryptography.   (2)  For example, the first letters of “My elephant eats too many eels” spell out the hidden message “Meet me.”

                (3)  You might represent each letter with a number, for example, let’s number the letters of the alphabet, in order, from 1 to 26 If we substitute a number for each letter, the message “Meet me” would read “13 5 20 13 5 ”

A code uses symbols to replace words, phrases, or sentences. To read the message of a real code, you must have a code book.  (4)  For example, “bridge” might stand for “meet” and “out” might stand for “me.” The message “bridge out” would actually mean “Meet me.”  (5)  However, it is also hard to keep a code book secret for long. So codes must be changed frequently.

              (1) ________
              A. It is very hard to break a code without the code book.
              B. In any language, some letters are used more than others.
              C. Only people who know the keyword can read the message.
              D. As long as there have been codes, people have tried to break them.
              E. You can hide a message by having the first letters of each word and spell it out.
              F. With a code book, you might write down words that would stand for other words.

How to be a patient person

When you show patience, you appear friendly to friends, family and co-workers. Some people seem naturally more peaceful than others, but such skills can be learned.   (1)

Breathe deeply. If you feel as though you’re losing your patience, stand or sit in a comfortable and correct position; breathe in slowly through your nose; and hold your breath for a few seconds then breathe out slowly through your mouth.   (2)

Widen your perspective(观点). When you are coaching someone on a new topic, think about the person’s knowledge and experience as a beginner.   (3)   Learning takes time. Thinking about a situation from the viewpoint of another person can help you stay calm and helpful.

                (4)   If your co-worker makes a mistake, realize you cannot erase the mistake. Shouting will make them nervous and could actually increase the number of mistakes they make. By accepting the mistake for what it is you might improve performance. Teaching them how to avoid the same problem in the future is a better choice for you.

Be humorous.   (5)   Get in the habit of laughing in non-stressful situations so you are better prepared to deal with difficult ones. Try starting your meeting with jokes, or finding humor in seemingly serious situation.

My mother is a diligent and kind woman. She is very busy from morning till night. As a teacher, she works hard.   (1)  Both my brother and I love her dearly as she loves us.

My mother has been teaching math at a middle school in my hometown. She goes to work early in the morning and does not return home until late in the afternoon.   (2)  She treats them with patience and teaches them well. For her excellent quality and very good teaching results, she has been elected as a model teacher several times.

                 (3)  Every day, when she comes back home from work, she sets about doing housework, sweeping the living room and bedrooms or cleaning the furniture, and putting everything in good order. She seems to be busy all the time. As she has been very busy working every day, she looks older than her age. But she looks as cheerful and happy as ever. Mother never buys expensive dresses for herself, but she often buys some inexpensive but high quality clothes for us.   (4)  She just eats a plain meal outside when she is too busy to cook herself. She lives a busy yet simple life, without any complaints.

Often she says to us, “work while you work, and play while you play. That is the way to be happy and gay. If you do not work, you will become lazy and be of no use to society”. What a piece of good advice this is!   (5)    This advice of hers will always serve as a guide to my behavior. My mother is great indeed, and I always feel proud of her.
