A good book can be satisfying. If reading is a habit you’d like to get into, there are some ways to develop it.  You will realize that reading is enjoyable if you have a good book. If you have a difficult book and you are forcing yourself to read through it, it will seem like a task. __(1)_
Set time. You should have some time during every day when you’ll read for at least 5 to 10 minutes. __(2)_ For example, make it a habit to read during breakfast and lunch and even dinner if you eat alone.
Always carry a book. __(3)_When I leave the house, I always make sure to have my car keys and one book at hand. The book stays with me in the car, and I take it into the office and to appointments and pretty much everywhere I go.
__(4)_ Find a place in your home where you can sit in a comfortable chair. Don’t lie down unless you’re going to sleep. There shouldn’t be a television or a computer near the chair, and no music or no noisy family members/roommates. If you don’t have a place like this, create one.
Reduce television/ the Internet. If you really want to read more, try cutting back on time on TV or the Internet.  __(5)_But remember: every minute you reduce of the Internet/ TV, you could use for reading. This could create hours of book reading time.

Tips to fight summer weight gain

When we think of summer, most of us think of outdoor fun. So it seems like we should naturally lose weight over the summer—not gainit.   (1)   Lots of summer activities can work against our efforts to stay at a healthy weight. The good news is that it’s easy to avoid problems if we know what to look out for.

Get going with goals. When we don’t have a plan, it’s easy to spend summer moving from couch to computer, with regular stops at the fridge.   (2)   Just be sure to plan for some downtime so you can relax a little!

                    (3)   With school out, we lose our daily routines. If you don’t have a specific job or activity to get up for, it’s easy to sleep late, watch too much TV, and snack more than usual. Make sure your summer days have some structure — like getting up at the same time each day and eating meals at set times. Plan activities for specific times, like exercising before breakfast, for example. If you have time on your hands, offer to make dinner a couple of nights a week so your family can enjoy a sit-down meal together.

Think about what and how you eat. Summer means picnics and barbecues — activities that revolve around an unlimited spread of food. Pace yourself. Don’t overload your plate.Avoid going back for seconds and thirds.Choose seasonal, healthy foods like fresh fruit instead of high-sugar, high-fat desserts.  (4)

Stay busy.   (5)   In addition to helping you avoid the cookie jar, filling your days with stuff to do can give you a sense of accomplishment. That’s especially true if a dream summer job or planned activity fell through. Limit your screen time — including TV, computer, and video games — to no more than 2 hours a day.

              (1) _______
              A. Stick to a schedule.
              B. Plan more activities.

              D. Most of us, however, don’t take summer weight gain seriously.
              E. In reality, though, summer isn’t all about beach volleyball and water sports.
              F. When we’re bored, it’s easy to fall into a trap of doing nothing and then feeling low on energy.
              G. Avoid this by setting a specific aim, like volunteering, mastering a new skill, or working at a job.

Five Ways to Work Smarter, Not Harder

No matter how hard we work, it seems that there is never enough time to get all the important tasks done. Rather than working longer, consider working smarter, not harder. Here are some ways to work smarter:

Make a careful plan. Just like every organization needs a business plan, an efficient worker needs a work plan.  (1)   Schedule your tasks throughout the days, weeks, and months, but do it ahead of time.

Set your goals. As a part of your work plan, you should set clear and measurable goals. Goals should state which tasks are to be completed and when they get completed. Rather than setting firm deadlines, which can lead to pressure and stress, allow a period of time to reach goals.  (2)

                (3)   Develop a consistent daily work schedule and stick to it! If a typical workday consists of some writing tasks(emails, reports), one-on-one meetings, and processing data, set aside specific time each day to accomplish each kind of tasks.

Delegate(授权)effectively.   (4)   The person who tries to do everything himself or herself not only is overloaded and overstressed, but is bad for their colleagues, by not allowing them to be challenged and grow by taking on important duties.

Don’t make work harder than it actually is. Much of the pressure is produced by ourselves.  (5)  We feel like we should do more. Remember that tasks should be completed step by step. Focus on each step rather than on the entire project, which can help us cut down on feelingsthat we are “overwhelmed”.

              (1) A. Stick to your plan.

              B. We set unrealistic goals or standards for ourselves.

              C. Also, take time to reward yourself for achieving a goal.

              D. Organize your workday.

              E. We cannot expect to complete the tasks quickly.

              F. Learn which tasks can be delegated and which need personal attention.

              G. It is a well-thought-out plan to help guide and direct work activities.

              Selfie

Social media and the mobile web have given rise to a strange phenomenon called the selfie. It refers to a picture of yourself, usually shared on any social networking website.

                (1)   Some selfies are extreme close-ups, and others show part of an arm held straight outward. A few of them even feature the subject standing in front of a bathroom mirror.

Everyone takes selfies, but the younger crowd seems to be especially involved in the trend. Young people are relatively heavier digital users. They are interested in staying connected to their friends.   (2)

There are also kinds of psychological factors driving people to take a selfie and upload it to a social networking site.   (3)   A quick and easy way to attract otherˈs attention is to get “likes” and comments from friends. Secondly, itˈs human nature to show off your own great achievements. When you feel good about yourself or look good, itˈs far too easy to take out your phone and document it all through one or several selfies.   (4)   Thatˈs right. Sometimes people are bored at work, bored at school, bored at home and even bored on the toilet. Last but not least, social media is about being social! If that means uploading as many selfies as possible, then so be it. Itˈs fun, and itˈs a cool way to sort of document your own life.

Finally, there are things to be mindful of when youˈre posting. Itˈs easy to think youˈre sharing a photo with a few people.   (5)   So donˈt post anything online, selfie especially.

Your house may have an effect on your figure. Experts say the way you design your home could play a role in whether you gain or lose weight.   (1)   Here are some ways to turn your home into part of diet plan.
                   (2)   Dark environments are more likely to encourage overeating, for when people are in poorly-lit places, they are more likely to eat lots of food. If your home doesn’t have enough window light, get more lamps and flood the place with brightness.
                   (3)   Research suggests warm colors fuel our appetites. In one study, people who ate meals in a blue room consumed 33 percent less than those in a yellow or red room.   (4)    However, cold colors make us feel less hungry. So when it’s time to repaint, go blue.
                   (5)   People who eat slowly tend to consume about 70 fewer calories per meal than those who rush through their meals. Begin keeping track of the time, and try to make dinner last at least 30 minutes, and while you’re at it, actually sit down to eat.
              (1) A. Mind the colors of your room.
